When she realized it, Manstein turned silent again. Alice now had a chance to look at him from the closer distance, seeing the calm and tranquil face that was pure from all the sin humans spread across their world.
Manstein’s body started to regenerate at an astonishing speed which could be seen by naked eyes. And a miracle that could not be surpassed just by the innate talent of someone’s spiritual roots now was broken by the man in front of her.
His face was the first to recover then followed by his limbs that started to grow muscles and skin once again as if to show the world that the bones appeared first before muscles and skin when humans were created in their mother’s womb!
“Alice, you should absorb this energy too as it will replenish your nascent energy. So why did you still staring at me?” Manstein asked.
“Hm, okay then if you say so.” Alice did not polite herself and instantly absorbed the Cosmic Qi from Manstein’s body.
“Indeed, the purest energy of the universe is like an all-healing potion. And it can be used with all the elements in this world too. Looks like Cosmic Qi can only be found in a special space or in the starry skies where Universe Gate is located somewhere.”
Now Manstein could feel the pressuring aura that came from Alice’s soul. This kind of pressure came from her soul actually very similar to the pressure of someone who had reached Nascent Soul stage and above.
“Alice, I think that you know about my circumstances but you still don’t tell me?” Manstein smiled even when he was still rotating the energy that filled his spiritual veins so he could condense the energy to a single point.
“That is why you created my body through difficult means to reduce the effect of my gene but in the end, the gene can affect the soul as well. Maybe I need to move alone after all.” Manstein sighed.
The reason he wanted to leave after the winter season was due to his condition. His own gene was the most unstable even he himself barely held in and if any mental stress occurred then he would not know what will happen.
‘Only by moving alone that the people I care will not be hurt. Even if I hurt other but they are completely stranger and I don’t feel any guilt in case any of them have an accident.’
And the mental stress that had been mentioned was like extreme sadness or anger. That indeed happened in the past when Manstein was running with his friend to escape from the kidnappers.
“Run and tell anyone outside that we are here.” The scene as if the nightmare ghost now started to play once again and even it continued where Manstein remembered that he ran away when Daniel was trapped and the black suited people chased them.
But then those people arrived and spotted them upon arriving, even raising their rifle to aim at Manstein and the other children. When he knew it, Manstein realized that the two just kept aiming their rifle without even threatening them and Manstein felt a presence behind him.
“Let go!” when he turned his head, one of the black-suited people caught one of his friends. Manstein gritted his teeth as he watched the man cursed out with irritation.
“Annoying! And you two cannot even properly guard them. So tell me who is responsible for this act!? Oh and let me tell you something, you will not escape from this place because to open the last door to the outside one need personnel fingerprint.”
The man deliberately told the children because he thought that even if the children could escape from the jail, it did not matter too much because the jail itself was already old-fashioned and any smart people could exploit it.
“Tell me who!? Are you deaf or something!?” the man then pulled out a pistol and put the muzzle to the child hostage.
But the child did not answer him which made him pissed off. Manstein could not react because of another two people that still kept watching them. He looked at Daniel who secretly whistled a low signal to him.

Two low-voiced whistles meant that they had to cooperate in order for them to get out from their current condition. Then there were smokes that appeared from Daniel’s position. He held a smoke grenade and he used it.
“Now!” somehow, the shout from Daniel made two black-suited men behind him stunned before they fell from their position. Manstein did not know how he did that but now the only one remaining still held one of their friends.
Manstein then saw a shard of the ceiling that had some sharp edge and then he touched it. HE found out that the material was sturdy and a plan to kill had formed without his realization.
‘Why I feel like killing that man who threatens my friends? Is it because I don’t want to see them hurt or is it because of something inside myself?’
Even though the children dared to escape but it did not mean they prepared themselves to kill someone due to their mentality. But he did not believe his ears because a deafening sound which he instantly recognized as the sound of fire being shot came from the direction that he had never expected.
‘No, damn. No...please.’ a sensation that he had never felt in his hear started to erupt. His eyes started to moist while his nose turned sour and that feeling increased when he saw a red color painted the floor behind him.
His heart beat faster and the adrenaline started to take effect because what he saw that time would undoubtedly trigger a certain reaction in his mind. He heard Daniel screamed in anguish while the other started to cry. Even Manstein did not know whether they cried for fear or another.
But what he had seen, he would get it back at the person who did it all. His eyes just stared at the black-suited man whose hands now released the hostage that he took.
Instantly, Manstein threw the shard right at the gap between the helmet, instantly penetrating through the glass layer and hit the eye. But Manstein’s expression now turned darker in every second he acted since he threw that shard.
The pistol the man still held in his other hand now had been released due to the surprise attack and he could not respond properly. He moved his hand to the direction where the object hit his eyes but of course Manstein used that little moment to get the pistol.
He dragged the pistol by his legs and made it closer to him before he took it and checked the bullet in the magazine.
“Please help Daniel and leave. Just leave me alone here, just not be here when I finish that man.” Manstein said in a cold and indifferent manner.
“What are you talking about? You have to follow us back!” reject one of his friends while he sobbed. But Manstein looked at him and then pointed at the pool of blood where one of his friends was there.
“Do you want to have an end like him?” while shooting directly at the man whose height was more than Manstein’s own body that time. Blood poured and a large hole appeared on the helmet and then they realized that the pistol had shot a bullet and they even forget to hear the sound. Only after they heard clearly what Manstein had said that they looked and heard clearly.
“You...” even Daniel was astonished by the sudden change in Manstein’s behavior that he knew. He still remembered that even though Manstein dared to stand against him but he did that to show himself as someone with worth, a person with pride deep inside his heart.
But that trait only applied to when someone tried to hurt him. Other than that, Manstein was a child that accepted the suggestion from all the people around him, even as far as helping them to escape from their room.
Daniel then forced himself to push the large obstacles that put his legs down and he felt tremendous pain and could not help but let out a sniff, as his eyes started to redden. The pain when he removed the thing from his legs really made his tears down but it was due to the pain resistance that he lacked.
Of course, the other children helped him and supported him to stand. His legs now looked terrible even the children knew it.
“Escape...now.” Daniel could hear the panting sound Manstein had done. He wanted to mourn for his friend too but he also wanted to bring Manstein out of the place.
“I told you before that you have to follow me! What use you shoot one person just for your selfish revenge!?”
Even though Daniel said it himself but he felt what Manstein did was admirable. He could not help but looked again at the child in front of him, that younger than him by three years and already capable of holding a pistol.
Daniel knew just how heavy a real pistol is, even his replica toy pistol was not comparable in front of the real ones. And when he witnessed Manstein shot the man, he felt afraid inside his heart.
‘How can he hold such a pistol and shoot it with such accuracy!? His hands cannot handle the pushback effect from each shot but he can do it.’
“I’m sorry, friends. Looks like you all have to go without me. When I was sent here, actually I don’t have any friends. No one, I really mean no one ever become my friends before which made me wonder what is wrong with me.”
Manstein then walked to the place where one of his friends now lied there, seemed like someone on their sleep but when he looked at that scene his heart felt like twisted to an unimaginable degree and slowly but surely a red light started to emerge from the depth of his eyes.
It was the same red color as the blood on the floor. As Manstein started to lift the body of his friend and gave it to Daniel. Now they once again faced each other but the first time, they antagonized each other and now they also did the same albeit different reason.
“Your eyes..what’s happening to you?”
Manstein just turned around and once again lifted the pistol to a corner and pulled the trigger in that direction. After he shot, a figure appeared with the black suit from that very same corner and being in the middle of the trajectory of the bullet, it was a direct hit.
Manstein’s red eyes looked at the figure and it released a cold glint as the shot only injured the figure but unable to kill on the first attempt.
“How many times I have to say to you all, escape! And Daniel, you as their respective leader should take the initiative to move. Just forget about our previous plan as right now they started to get suspicious.”
Manstein’s senses raised to a new otherworldly level because he clearly heard the footsteps of several people coming to their direction. Fortunately, after some turn at the front of their route was the door to the surface.
That was right, they were currently inside the underground facility and needed to get out from there.
“Go.” Manstein took a single step further from Daniel before something unbelievable happened. A layer of glass suddenly appeared from the top and the bottom, separating them. Manstein knew about it and he did not care too much.
‘Isolate the entire building, so I have to go to the control room after all.’ That thought started to emerge, the thought of him playing with the black-suited man as he would shoot them on sight. But what was far more dangerous would be his willingness to do it.
