Chapter 57: Calm Before The Storm (3)

“Please maintain your position.” Said Theresa slowly. She felt tremendous pressure when the container shook with a great tremor.

Even the shockwave had already been spread to the remaining parts of the hive. From the container, the honey spun around slowly, before it formed a certain facial figure of a horrifying monster.

“That face, is that really it?” Theresa recognized the face but she stood still, did not believe it for a second.

At the surface of the honey, a black substance started to appear with the appearance of the face. The face was the same giant that Ye Qincheng faced earlier.

“Her Highness, what is that monster?” the tall knight prepared his rapier. This was the leader of all the fighter bees but with his armor to increase his defense.

“If you listen to one of your nanny’s tale, you will hear about the monster that once lives in this world,” Theresa said to the man.

“The tale? The tale about a giant that could devour the entire mountain and even able to split the ocean maybe?” the man did not sure for he had never cared too much for such a story.

“Yes, that is the right one. The giant was the natural inhabitant of this world but when human expand their influence, the giant was met with the human and of course the interaction between them formed.”

But her expression became much darker compared to before. Only a few people knew the real reason why the giant now became so rare to find.

“They’re real?”

The more he saw the expression of Theresa, he believed that it was really the case. And even Theresa confirmed it herself.

“Yes, that was true. This giant is Paleo, the inhabitant of this world. Even without the power of qi, they still have great battle prowess despite their lack of cultivators among their own. Instead, they used their body as a measurement to know who was stronger.”

Theresa then looked back at the face of the giant.

Meanwhile, in the deeper part of the hive, the shock that came from the container arrived at the training room. At first, the room shook not much but when the next minute had passed it changed drastically.

Not only it affected the person in the room and around it but also the entire hive!

“Oh, really!?” said Ye Xiaobai annoyed. He just started to retry his attempt to make an item with the new method but the quake disturbed him. If not for the fact that they did not begin it before, the process would fail in the instant.

“I just hope that he is safe. The process to let the bloodline fully awake is not smooth.”

Wu Qing said while her eyes still looked at the person who was drawing a certain pattern around the room. In his right hand, a sharp stone was used to carve the pattern directly to the wall of the room.

“What are you doing?” she said and after that, even Ye Xiaobai noticed it too.

“Hmm, can you two help me?” with a bashful smile, Manstein asked both Wu Qing and Ye Xiaobai. He asked them because he lacked a certain important thing to complete his task.

“As expected.” Even Ye Xiaobai knew what Manstein had made. He sighed when he saw those patterns on the wall and only generally knew about it.

“You want us to help you pour our energy in it? No problem! But you should promise me to teach me something, will you?” said Wu Qing with a smile.

“Oh, yes. A fair trade, Elder Brother. I will help in exchange of some new knowledge I never heard before, hehe.” Ye Xiaobai said while grinning. All of a sudden, a frown appeared on Manstein’s face when he saw those expressions.

“We better halt our training.” Said Ye Yingyuan. He could feel the aura that he recognized from the tremor and he started to worry.

“What’s happening?” Li Lin asked when she saw the anxious look that Ye Yingyuan gave. His eyes only focused on the place above them without moving a single inch.

This made her feel the same too and came close to him. She always had the thought that the boy in front of her truly cared for the people around him.

There was something that made him act like that. The dread feelings that rose suddenly from the depth of his heart increasing with each second passed!

‘I feel like there’s a boulder on my chest. I suffocated!’ that was Ye Yingyuan’s thought. His only hope was that his brother would pass this safely without any harm came to him.

Unconsciously, he placed his hands on his chest as if it could reduce the sensation he had just now.

“No, just some bad moments. Don’t worry about it too much. Maybe this is the impact from my brother’s special case?” said Ye Yingyuan to ease some worry to both himself and Li Ling. He did not believe his own words completely of course.

“But your expression and your reaction, all of it show how much you worry about this!” Li Ling said while facing directly, eye to eye and not averting her gaze in the slightest to Ye Yingyuan.

“How can you say that!?” despite the effort to hide it, his own body had betrayed him. Ye Yingyuan did not have much to say because his heart told him the fact and the body respond to it!

“If you feel that the burden is too heavy, why don’t you share some of it so that you can clear it with your own strength?” suggested Li Ling.

“So, in the end, what do you want?” asked Ye Yingyuan in a weaker tone. He was out of option and could not even help his brother, that was truly painful for him.

“Like I said before. Remember, we are friends right?” to make sure that Ye Yingyuan did not forget about their current relationship, Li Ling said this.

“It’s right. But what uses is that to the current situation? I can’t even do a thing much less you.” That was the fact and the truth Ye Yingyuan faced. The awakening of the bloodline was beyond his reach to help.

“Then we should provide whatever needs from there want. I’m sure that soon that room will need more energy than now.” Seeing how fast the energy flowed to the chamber made Li Ling noticed that the needs for energy maybe exceed the expectation.

“Do you mean that the entire hive is not enough to supply those energy needs?” Ye Yingyuan frowned. If that was true then it became both his opportunity to help and the crisis came closer each second.

Li Ling nodded her head, agreed to the statement.

“What do you mean that this giant is hard to kill target!?” Ye Qingcheng tried to evade the swing that the giant used to attack him.

“They’re the race with ancient bloodline and now you also hold their very power inside your body, waiting for the day it awakens. The only weakness Paleo have is the light with a wavelength equal to the moonlight!”

Alice then used the yellow light to once again locked her specific target which was the joints of arms, legs, neck, shoulders, and thighs. The light changed form into the thin but sharp needles.

“This is the last! You better strike him, do not care the bloody image it produced! Remember what your cousin had said when you want to know more about the world!” said Alice to encourage Ye Qingcheng.

When he remembered the scene where he hit the giant right in the face, the giant coughed up some blood and the face that already turned into a bloody pulp made Ye Qingcheng feel disgusted.

“But I’m still not used to this!” Ye Qingcheng said while hesitating whether to continue the attack or not.

“Come on, just do it. But remember that after this, you will experience a pain you never feel before.” Alice warned him. She worried that the first step for him to take on his first enemy would be placed at their place now!

After some struggle with himself and his eyes radiated a strange light, Ye Qingcheng then rushed to the giant's eye and directly smash it using his own fist.

“Splitting Rock Punch!” the strike that could shatter the stone! The momentum and the shockwave it gave to the object it hit could lead to the destruction from inside.

The fountain of red blood had formed and the giant roared with agony and resentment. It gave the sound wave that could shake the earth!

“Ugh!” Ye Qingcheng wanted to vomit but held himself. Even though he was in his own consciousness but the sensation it gave to him was after all in his body and the body perceived it as real.

“It’s not bad,” Alice commented. She retracted the yellow energies but still spread them around the giant’s body that rested on his knee.

“Looks like the influence of Paleo’s bloodline is not too deep. But rather than just throw it away and waste it, why don’t we inserted the advantage the bloodline have?” asked Alice. But the question itself was directed to Theresa who still watched from outside.

“The scenery here is not beautiful anymore thanks to you,” Theresa replied.

Indeed, the chamber which the container was placed now turned into a mess. Even some of the bees panicking and flew around the chamber.

“Please hold yourself until further instruction is given.” Said the full armor knight beside Theresa. He told it to all the bees that flew and moved chaotically.

Fortunately that the bees were fully aware of the orders and how strict it was so they immediately obeyed. They formed a centralized formation with Theresa as the center.

“Is there something, Your Highness?” asked the knight. But Theresa still silent, not answering. This made them worry because the honey changed color from yellow to the mix of black in it.

After some time had passed, she finally gave her answer. She used her own energy, spreading it towards every inch of the place it could reach. At first, the energy only swept the chamber, the container, the knight and all the bees around it.

But not long after that, the entire hive also resonated with the energy, as if the appearance of the queen’s energy was a call for them.

“In time!” when the last pattern formed, Manstein locked it and closed the channels so that the pattern would circulate the energy among the room.

“Should we stop pouring our energy now?” asked Ye Xiaobai who already drowned in his own sweat. His clothes became wet enough for someone to see the outline of his body. His head also full of droplets after droplets that still flowed from his brows to his chin.

“Of course you have to stop! Do you want to have a long rest, that’s your plan?” Manstein said with his eyes looking at him.

“So it’s done. Fortunately for me, this level of consumption is not enough to make me tired.” Wu Qing said nonchalantly because for her, this was just like a walk in the park and there was no challenge for her to do it.

‘But this is a good opportunity to learn more about controlling the output of your qi.’ She thought.

“Activate the barrier around the room.” Said Manstein weak. He could only activate or deactivate the barrier which was formed from numerous patterns but could not supply the energy necessary to make it work.

Then a thin white layer coated the wall, the door, every place the pattern exist was where the barrier would work.

“Why did we have to do this?” Ye Xiaobai became confused all of a sudden. He only knew that this kind of barrier usually used when the situation was dire or to became the defensive part of some mechanism.

“I think...this is all related to the training and the treatment. The previous situation was actually a calm before the storm, am I right?” Wu Qing said.
