Chapter 1: Damned land

"Si–gh."

Breathing a sigh from atop a stone pillar. Is a young man with features that entranced both genders (especially women) with a beautiful body and a handsome face to boot. If not for the tired and dead look on his eyes, everyone would call him a "Blessed".

Clunk

The man took away something from his breast pocket and tossed it below.

It hit a creature with a small figure covered in scales akin to a lizard walking on two legs. Not a single movement came from the lizard, as though it was dead.

Well, looking at the environment it was in, it is strange how a low Fang rank creature can survive in a place where the weakest monster would be of Disaster rank. Which heroes of a country would require to take down.

The man continued to laze around and didn't notice the small lizard struggling towards the item he nonchalantly threw. It is an orb with a pure black surface that seems to draw the light around the surroundings.

The small lizard swallowed the orb whole. A few seconds after swallowing it. The lizard convulsed and then burned by black flames until all that's left is a dark scorched carcass.

"Hmm? That smells like dark magic?"

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

The man dozing off finally stood up from high up the pillar and looked around.

"I didn't know there is someone still with guts to perform dark magic rituals in the middle of these damned lands."

Just as he spoke that. hundreds of gigantic silver tentacles thrashed around his surroundings. He was taken aback a bit, for there is no such creature that approached him for the past day or so.

'How can this thing bypass my detection'

He has a skill 'Existence Detection' up and always active. A skill that not only detects physical lifeforms, but also ethereal and/or lingering will and souls of the dead. Anything that has an existence would show up in his radar.

"This thing... "

The massive silver scaled monster is 350 feet tall and each and every tentacle is as thick as the world tree.

"G*dzilla?"

The silver tentacle shot towards the man. The sheer size of it make him look like a fly about to get squashed.

Though the outcome came obviously different.

The silver scales that's stronger than titanium and purple flesh burst around the moment it made impact with the man's raised fist.

"Huwoah– skin contact really is unpleasant."

His face warped in displeasure. As if he touched trash. Not noticing that the monster howled so loud that other monsters in the vicinity cried wary.

The tentacle he blew off has already regenerated. The monster's unfocused eyes stared at the man's direction. As if accepting that the man is an enemy.

Unfortunately for him.

"Demon lord in strength at the least?"

The man in front of him view his existence nothing more than a pest.

Giant pillars of condensed light came from the skies, as if a revelation from the Gods. Except this time it was used like lasers that danced around the monster at incredible speed.

The monster was sliced into gigantic chunks. Then the pillars of light formed into one and eradicated the chunks of flesh into oblivion.

The scene afterward reminds one of a wasteland. Leaving an overwhelming sense of dread and fear.

"Haa... Crusaders of that crazy church would probably come danger these lands to check what caused their 'God's Revelation' huh. Troublesome bunch... "

Admist his self monologue. He snapped his fingers like he remembered something important.

"Why don't i visit my human worshippers?"

28st day of the 3rd month. Year 901 of the empire's calendar.

Numerous disasters appeared all around the world.

The seal on the most powerful mage that achieved immortality Eëd Värk, Has been undone. Scriptures foretold the movement of the Ancient class Infinity dragon.

The church of Cael, god of time and space. Is in turmoil after the unique divine energy was felt by their top individuals.

"Ahh.. Cael-sama grieves the ungratefulness of humanity."

The graceful and divine appearance of a woman kneeling with a pained expression was enough to make any man feel weak.

"Terifa-sama are you all right?"

Terifa turned to the young attendant by her side.

"I'm happy, since i felt Cael-sama's glorious divine presence once more."

The beautiful smile on her pretty face, makes one wonder if she's a princess of faraway kingdom. Her beauty might even rival or surpass most princesses even the emperor's daughter Irena.

"Hoh~? I can actually feel cold? I'm surprised i can feel the chill with my resistances."

He shrugged off the eerie breeze as he thought of what identity should he use from here on out.

"Carl? Although infamous as a destroyer from my excessive actions back then. Carl. Varl. Barl."

He tapped his chin deep in thought.

Then.

"Ah, i know. I shall be known as Carl, the lone adventurer."
