Chapter 7: Greater Threat

Chapter 7: Greater Threat

The moon was fully risen, casting a warm glow over the lush jungle and the bustling activity of the village. The villagers were preparing for the day ahead, gathering supplies and setting out on their various tasks. However, their peaceful evening was suddenly interrupted by a loud noise coming from the forest. The noise echoed through the jungle, causing the villagers to freeze in fear and uncertainty.

"What was that loud sound all of a sudden?" asked the elder of the monkey village, his voice filled with concern. He immediately issued a command for everyone to return to their homes and not venture outside until they could determine the source of the noise.

But the noise grew closer and was accompanied by the sounds of several people screaming. The villagers grew increasingly worried and frightened, unsure of what was happening. Freed looked to his friend Shon and said, "I think we need to check it out, guys." He quickly put on his backpack and picked up his weapons, while Shon grabbed his sword and prepared to follow Freed.

Freed turned to Ween, and said, "You stay here with the villagers, Ween. We'll handle this." The elder nodded in agreement, and Freed and Shon set off towards the source of the noise, accompanied by six of the strongest and bravest monkey warriors from the village.

As they approached the source of the noise, they encountered a scene of horror. Torn apart bodies of both humans and animals were scattered throughout the area, with shattered trees and blood everywhere. The group was shocked and horrified by what they saw, struggling to comprehend the violence that had taken place. They cautiously moved forward, weapons at the ready, prepared for any danger that may still be lurking in the area.

The group searched the area for any signs of survivors and any clues as to what had caused such destruction.

The group stumbled upon a scene of chaos as they encountered heavy casualties crying out for help. Along with the two huge tigers and lions they had seen earlier, now lying deeply injured.

Suddenly, a loud roar echoed through the area.

"What is that monster?!", Freed exclaimed in shock.

"Is that a demon?!", Shon added in fear.

The source of the roar revealed itself to be a huge homunculus with a bear-like body, a lion's paws and head, an eagle's wings, and four serpent tails.

Uriel, who was observing from the sidelines, asked with a smirk, "Now, what will you do?"

"That thing is huge, Freed. How are we going to fight it?" asked Shon.

"I don't know," Freed replied, "But we must find a way to keep it away from the village."

As the monster indiscriminately attacked everything in its path, Shon suggested, "Let's run and distract it, so we can lead it away from the village."

"That's a good idea, Shon. Get ready, everyone," Freed added, "We need to run as fast as we can."

Shon, Freed, the other participants, and the monkey warriors shouted and threw rocks at the monster to agitate it. The monster, in turn, furiously chased after them as they ran away from the village.

"That area will be perfect," Freed said, pointing to a group of large boulders. "Our archers can position themselves on top, but we need to work together.

We'll weaken the homunculus by striking simultaneously. Those of you skilled in long-range weapons, go to the boulders and scatter from different directions to provide cover for us on the ground. Aim for its head, especially its eyes to impair its vision."

"Shon, your team will target the left leg while we'll take the right," Freed continued. "Once we strike, we'll retreat immediately, and the group on top of the boulders will lure the monster away to give the other team time to attack the other leg.

We'll repeat this process until the homunculus is weakened."

The groups positioned themselves, ready to attack. The archers on the left boulder taunted the monster as Freed's group went in to attack the right leg.

"Attack the right leg!" Freed shouted, and the men yelled in response. Swords, spears, and daggers slashed at the monster's right leg. The homunculus was hurt and grew even angrier.

It roared in anger and turned its attention to Freed's group.

"Shoot! Aim for its head and cover the group!" the archers on the right boulder shouted.

"It's our turn, attack the left leg!"

Haaaaa....Shon and his group shouted in unison. They had managed to inflict a deep wound on the monster's left leg.

Raaaaaawwwwwrrrrrrrrrrrr.........Grrrrrroooooooooooooooowwwwwlllllllll....

The monster roared in response.

The group on the top simultaneously attacked the monster's head, firing arrows, rocks, spears, and bullets at it.

"Take this, you monster!" Two men shouted as they threw a grenade at the homunculus.

BOOOOMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!

A massive explosion was seen, and the surrounding area was covered in smoke. The smoke was so thick that the location of the monster was obscured.

"Did we make it?" asked one of the members of the group.

As the smoke started to clear, they saw the monster lying on the ground, badly injured. Its left leg was broken, and half its face was burnt, with blood dripping from all its wounds.

One man in the group excitedly shouted, "Ha! Serves you right monster! We should attack it now immediately, let's go!" The other members of the group eagerly joined in.

Shon saw something while looking at the monster.

Waiiiiiiiiiiiittt!!!!!!!!!!! Stoooopppppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!

The group froze at Shon's yell.

"What is it?" One of the men asked, cautious.

"There's something strange," Shon replied, his eyes fixed on the monster.

The men exchanged worried looks. They were too close to the monster to run, but they didn't want to risk getting hurt.

"What should we do?" another man asked, gripping his weapon tightly.

"Get back!", Shon shouted.

The two men nodded, slowly backing away from the monster. They kept their weapons ready, their eyes fixed on the creature. They couldn't let their guard down for a moment.

"What are you doing?! Why are you backing away? It's badly wounded, we should finish it off now!" cried one member of the group as another prepared to strike the monster.

The two men were ready to strike the monster, but the situation quickly took a turn for the worse. Two of the men were immediately bitten and hung in mid-air by the creature's two serpent tails. The other two were struck by the monster's sharp claws.

The remaining man was shocked and panicked in fear. He turned pale and was sweating profusely, his face expressing the feeling that he was facing death.

"Get back here!" Freed shouted.

The man ran back as Shon and Freed rushed forward to save him.

Just as one of the creature's serpent tails was about to bite the man, Freed pushed him out of the way and evaded the serpent's bite.

Then Shon jumped in and drew his sword, cutting off the serpent's head.

The other men fired their arrows and guns, while some threw spears, as the three of them escaped from the monster.

"Did you see it, Freed?" Shon asked. "It's healing itself! Its wounds are regenerating!"

"How is that even possible?" Freed asked.

The homunculus's wounds were regenerating and steam was rising from its body. Its broken leg was recovering, its burned face was returning to normal, and the severed head of the serpent tail was growing back.

"Is that even possible?" asked the other members of the group in disbelief.

"What can we do against a monster that can heal itself?" says another participant, frustrated by the lack of progress in their attempts to defeat it.

"The morale among the fighters is declining as the homunculus has already regained its strength from past injuries."

Panel switches to the other side of the jungle.

Ween is seen running through the dense forest with three warrior monkeys by her side.

She recalls the events that took place earlier in the village.

The sound of consecutive growls and rumbles coming from the jungle was getting louder and more intense. The monkey observer perched atop a tree called down to the elder, reporting what was happening nearby.

"Elder!! It looks like they're already fighting what's in there," the observer said in monkey language.

"Is that so? Can you see what they are fighting?" The elder exclaimed, also in monkey language.

"I can't really tell what it is, I've never seen one like it before, but it's very huge," the observer reported.

"That is quite troublesome!" The elder said, his concern growing.

"Ehhh, what is too...trou..ble..some?"

"Arrre we in trou...ble?" Ween asked, fear and nervousness creeping into her voice.

"We are all safe in here, but I guess your friends might be the ones who are in trouble," the elder replied. "We need to go and help them. I need you to tell them something, Miss Ween."

"EHHHHH EKKK...Wwwhhhyyyy meeeee!? ..." Ween asked nervously.

The elder placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder and said, "Because you are brave and strong. We must act quickly to save them."

Ween was easily convinced.

With a deep breath and determination in her eyes, Ween nodded.

The elder thought to himself, "What a gullible child."

Panel switches back to Ween's group.

Ween and the three warrior monkeys approach the site of the fight, where they see the monster battling a group of people and monkeys. The group is struggling, with injuries on all of them. Shon and Freed are wounded, two of the warrior monkeys are unable to fight due to their injuries, and another has a broken shoulder.

Ween is terrified and her knees tremble as she sees the monster. She stammers, "Wha...what is that? I...I can't fight something like that!"

Suddenly, she feels dizzy and turns robotic. "Ohww..kay, I'm out of here!" she exclaims before running away. However, the monster notices her and attacks.

One of the warrior monkeys was able to grab her, but he was gravely injured in return.

Ween was awakened by what had happened.

The warrior monkey was agonizing in pain.

"It's my fault that you've been hurt, mister monkey. I'm sorry," Ween said, as she immediately grabbed some healing medicine from her bag.

"Just as the elder has said to us, we must go to where we need to go," Ween said to the other monkey who was accompanying her. The monkey warrior left instantly to fulfill his other mission.

"I have some information to share with everyone. We can win this fight, but we need to get an item and some backups. While the others remain here to entertain the monster, one of us must go to the Lake of Dysphoria," Ween explained.

"We've been to that place before, and we barely made it out. We don't want to go back there," said the other participants.

"I will go. Tell me where it is!" said Freed.

The scene switches to Freed, who is already running towards Lake Dysphoria as he remembers what Ween told him in the previous scene.

"We are in the west of this jungle. The lake of dysphoria is on the east side, just straight ahead. You will know when you are already there as there will be violet mist surrounding the area," Ween had said.

As Freed arrives in the area, he exclaims, "This must be it!"

But then he remembers Ween's warning: "You mustn't breathe when you reach the other side. If you inhale even an inch of air, you will be intoxicated and will die in a couple of seconds."

Freed begins to feel dizzy, muttering, "Shit, I'm feeling numb. It must be because of the wounds."

Ween's voice echoes in his head: "You must bring the sword that dwells beneath the lake. The lake contains poison and is inhabited by a nymph. The nymph will test you. You mustn't fall asleep. Eat this when you dive into the lake. Remember, this medicine will only take effect for 1 minute."

The water of the lake is also violet in color.

Freed eats the medicine that Ween gave him as he dives into the lake. The water is very deep and seems endless, but Freed keeps diving until he sees something glowing in the distance.

As he gets closer, he realizes it's the sword that Ween had mentioned. However, it's already rugged and withered.

Freed examines the sword and remarks, "Is this it? It looks so old. It's a dull old sword."

As Freed reaches for the sword, the water begins to move in a circular motion around him. He blinks and suddenly finds himself transported into a clear blue pool of water. In front of him stands a beautiful nymph.

"So beautiful," Freed thinks to himself.

The nymph says, "Who are you?"

"I am Freed," he responds.

"What is your purpose for coming here?" the nymph asks.

"I was asked to retrieve the sword that is in this lake," Freed answers.

The nymph's curiosity piques, "Who asked you to retrieve the sword? And why do you need it?"

Freed responds, "The elder monkey said that we need the sword to defeat the monster that is causing havoc on this island."

"That old monkey," the nymph exclaims, "describe the situation to me, human."

Freed explains the situation on the island to the nymph.

"I see," the nymph responds, "the sword may be of help to you, but there is one problem. Only a person with a good heart can pull out this sword.

If you touch the sword and are unworthy, it will absorb your life, and you will die. Do you think you can make it?"

At first, Freed hesitates when he hears the nymph's warning, but he quickly pulls himself together when he remembers that people are depending on him.

"Even if I can't, I must," Freed says determinedly.

He touches the sword and tries to pull it out. The sword glows as he pulls it, and suddenly there is a blinding light.

Freed successfully pulls out the sword, and the hole where the sword was stuck begins to absorb the water.

A whirlpool forms, and Freed swims upward to reach the surface.

However, the current is too strong, and he starts to lose consciousness.

As he reaches for the surface, he loses his breath and begins to lose consciousness.

Suddenly, someone reaches down and pulls him out of the water.

Freed coughs on the ground as the mist around the lake disappears, and the water turns to a clear blue color.

"You have pulled the sword, human, and the curse has been lifted.

However, there is something wrong, the sword is still dull," the nymph says in her mind.

"We will join you in the battle." An army of hornets appears on the scene, and the nymph tells them to help Freed.

Freed runs back to where the monster is with the army of hornets.

Together, they prepare to face the monster and save the island from destruction.
