Bursting into the course, she hears a slam to her right. Turning and aiming, she fires, realizing in that brief moment she should have identified her target first. Luckily, the rebel cutout falls back down, and she turns around, pushing down the hall. Entering the next room, she raises her sidearm, nearly shooting what was clearly a terrified civilian, before turning and aiming at a rebel, who she fires at. Continuing on, she hears something pop up near the civilian, and turning her head, she sees a rebel has appeared beside the civilian. A second had already passed, she needed to be quick. With a rapid pace, it was two seconds, then three. Aiming, she could not take care, she had to fire. The round went towards the two cutouts, hitting the civilian, and causing a loud buzzer. Her first strike sounded out as she fired again, taking down the rebel cutout this time.
Cursing her aim, she turns back to the exit, and continues onwards. Elise enters a hallway and turns left, only to hear a voice coming through static behind her, “DIE LOYALIST!” Turning on a dime, she sees a rebel cutout, holding a light machine gun. Quickly backing up into the hallway again, she hears the speaker begin making the sounds of that specific gun. She waits, thinking the recording isn’t going to be a constant set of rounds, and soon the gun will run dry, giving her an opening. Holding position, she soon hears the noise stop, and she steps out, aiming already. She was into the next room a few seconds later, hitting two rebels in rapid succession.
She comes to yet another crossroads, and turns right this time, knowing their tricks after the last one, but she finds a normal hallway. Even after turning around again, she finds no rebels here. Going down the right side, she enters a room, where a rebel pops up with an Enforcer cutout in front of him. It would be a tough shot, but she was determined to make up for the earlier mishap. Taking two seconds to aim, she fires at five seconds, and the target falls, leaving the Enforcer unharmed. Quickly she heads back, noting that the room has no other paths. Moving into the next room, she finds several more rebels. Firing once into a rebel, she moves up to the sandbags he had been behind, and takes cover to reload. She hears the static of the speakers, which play the sounds of gunfire. She remains in position, and as the first rifle goes dry, she bolts out of cover, and fires into one of the cutouts, hearing the sounds stop suddenly.
She runs to the wall, and uses her momentum to launch herself up and into a flip. During this, she fires again, taking out the third rebel in the room. A fourth stands, while she is still in the middle of her flip. She barely recognized the weapon in the rebel’s hands as another LMG. To stop the rebel from firing, she quickly pulls her empty magazine, and throws it at the rebel, hitting him. She lands and fires another round, dropping him. She moves forward, pistol still aimed, but taking a small moment to pick up the magazine. Elise then keeps moving, pistol at the ready. Nearing the only door she has seen so far, she checks to see if the hinges are on her side or the other. Seeing them on the other, she quietly grabs the doorknob and pulls while checking to see if it is unlocked. Finding it unlocked, she moves the knob all the way, then rams herself into the room.
She quickly identifies a few Enforcers, and a group of rebels behind sandbags. The Enforcers did not move, and remained behind their riot shields. She could hear the static again, she had just entered into the middle of a gunfight. She moved quickly to behind the shields as well, and fired at the rebels, soon clearing the room. She moves on, as the Enforcers fall to the floor, no longer needed for the test. Going through the next open doorway, she finds herself at the end of the course, however a group of Rebel cutouts pop up, holding live Enforcers hostage, who stand with their arms crossed, and armor on. The static comes back, “Put down your weapon or your pals’ get it!” The Enforcers reinforce this demand by saying things like, “Do it” or “Stand down recruit” or even “Give up, we’ve lost.”
Elise smirks, as she knows exactly who had made this part of the test. It was a rigged test, the moment a new Enforcer aims, they put the lives of their colleagues in danger. It was a guaranteed two strikes, and she smirked because she knew how devious her dad could be sometimes. Knowing the six seconds do not count here, she slowly raises her pistol and hands, putting on the safety, as she says, “Alright, alright. Calm down, I’ll just disarm myself real quick. Gun’s on safe, removing the magazine now.” She begins to do so, and then pulls the slide back, releasing the round in the chamber. She could tell the two Enforcers were disappointed, but then they were surprised, as Elise threw the sidearm and magazine at the two rebels, causing the Enforcers to flinch. She then rushes forward, a blunt spike of ice being thrown at one and a punch hitting the other. The Enforcers look at Elise, and the stunned silence is palpable.
Elise stands up, shaking her hand from the pain of hitting a hardwood cutout. She then speaks, “You’re not getting me with my Dad’s end of course trick. Thought long and hard about how to counter it when I heard of it the first time.” She then hears an impressed voice, the Instructor, “Well done. You’re the first to get past the end, and get only one strike. Once you show what you know, you will be instated as a Private Second Class.” Elise begins to stand at attention, listening, though unable to see the Instructor, who continues, “You don’t have to stand at attention, Elliot. We’ll have you take that test today, and you’ll have your results and requirements tomorrow.” Elise answers quickly, “Understood, Sir.” The Instructor then speaks in his calm tone, “Turn around, and let's get you on that test, follow me.”

Elise was walking down the street, in her usual ensemble of a half-open dark blue track jacket, black t-shirt, black fingerless gloves, black shorts, black thigh-high stockings, and black tennis shoes, with a holstered pistol strapped to the bare part of her right leg. Beside her, another female Human around the same age, with wolf-like ears and a tail, short fluorescent pink hair, a heavy cyberpunk-ish jacket which barely lets her fingers show from underneath the oversized sleeves, a normal beige shirt with a collar going up to her chin with space between itself and her neck, normal bluejeans, and black combat boots.
With a small smile, Elise couldn’t help but feel thankful for what her friend had done to herself. It had been almost a year since they last saw each other, but the first thing Moire had said to her was that she remembered Elise talking about how she felt different than everyone else. The small smile on her face fades, however, and Elise begins to think about something she wishes could have happened. Moire looks at Elise and grins happily, clearly enjoying the fact that they both had gone to join the Enforcers, “I think we’ll be accepted in. We worked our asses off after all. That’s definitely gonna be noticed. It's Planetary Force behavior after all. So quit being so down. You’ll just make it harder on yourself.” Elise simply frowned, responding after a second, “Moire, I may be down right now, but it's not because I don’t think we’ll be getting in. It's because my dad’s not going to get to see it.” Moire is silent, and her smile disappears immediately, as she blinks, looking forward again, and with a sad tone she responded, “Right. Sorry.” Elise gave her a pat on the shoulder, not looking at her, as she smiles a sad smile, and said, “It's alright. You still have yours after all. Sometimes that just makes you forget that not everyone’s fortunate enough to be in the same position.”
The two begin to pass the entrance to a pyramid-like structure, and Elise nods, “Alright. This is where we split for now. You go on ahead. I’ll see you at HQ for the announcements and everything, tomorrow.” Moire stops with Elise, and looks at her, answering that sad voice of hers with a happy smile and tone, “Hey, don’t be too sappy tomorrow. We’ve gotta kick ass at 0500. You got that?” She playfully punches Elise’s shoulder, getting a soft and quick chuckle out of her, and a sad smile. Elise looks Moire in the eyes, and Moire speaks again, grinning, “There we go, that’s the Elise I know and loved hangin’ with. Lift that stupid mug of yours high. Your dad’d be proud.” Elise begins to laugh, followed by Moire laughing with her. Elise looks at her friend, and says, “You always know how to fix my mood. You still want to be an Enforcer? It's not too late to swap to a psychologist. You’d probably fix a lot of people’s problems just by talking to them.” Moire grins, and shakes her head, speaking with hard set patriotism in her voice, “Any Andromedan worth their salt’s been in the military. Even if it's just the Military Police.” Moire turns and begins walking again, “Once I finish my service, I’ll think about swapping careers, but only if you’re leavin’ too! We’re inseparable Elise! You can’t get rid-o’ me that easily! Not after meeting again after a year!”
Elise smiled happily, then turned to face the pyramid’s entrance. She sighed a happy sigh, and began to enter, taking out her phone to help light her way. The lights in these places are dim, as if not to disturb the dead. She passed by plaques and metal lockers. She walked up to an elevator, and pressed the call button, only for it to open immediately. She entered the elevator, and pressed the fourteenth floor’s button. A few minutes passed, and she stepped out of the elevator, walking the path she’s walked hundreds of times at this point. Just this time, she only has her words to say, instead of any gifts. She passes by holes in the walls, each with a container of some kind in it. The flashlight on her phone helped guide her way, as she walked for ten minutes.
She stopped in front of a hole in the wall, remembering the closed casket funeral. After a few seconds, she began to sit down beside it, knowing she’s in the right spot. She looked up, and raised a hand, placing it down on the metal surface. She pats it slightly, then turns off her flashlight, as she speaks, “Hey Dad. I made it. Tomorrow’s the day. Your little girl’s joining the force. I’ll be patrolling the streets of West Florencia, or I’ll be going somewhere else in Haven. Maybe even out of Haven and into a different city on Andromeda. So I won’t be able to come as often as I’d like. I just hope I can make you proud. I know you and Isabel don’t believe in any gods or anything like that, but I keep praying to each and every single one out there. That you rest well. That Isabel can be cured of her pain and her depression over your death. Which reminds me, Isabel’s defects are cropping up again. Her doc put her on double doses again. But don’t worry. I’ll keep reminding her as much as necessary. After all, I need to take mine too.”

She looks at the metal coffin, her smile all but gone now, “I know it's been a few years, but we still miss you. Sometimes I even see your shadow in the corner of my eye when I’m at home. But I shouldn’t be talking about that, you probably want to know what I’m planning to do. I’m joining the Military Police, and then I’ll go further than you ever were able to. We’re not stopping at just a Sergeant Major, Dad. We’re aiming for the Secretary’s position. I can tell you right now, we’ll be making it to the Andromeda himself, and I’ll advise him on matters of Enforcement. I’ll be the greatest Enforcer ever.” She smiles her determination at his coffin, then she stands up, saying, “That’s all I wanted to say, dad. I’ve got my plans. Now, I need to get back home, Isabel’s gonna be coming home soon, and public transport’s real slow. Need to get a car sometime. We still have a good amount from your death, so it shouldn’t break us, especially with me getting a job in Enforcement. But either way, I love you. I’ll see you next time, and I’ll bring some fast food next time. I know you can’t have any, but I’d rather let you see my reaction to that drink you always liked drinking. Still haven’t tried it. You know how picky I’ve always been.” She finally realizes that she’s stalling, and says, “Oh! Right! Stalling! I need to go, bye!” She then began running away from the coffin, with the plaque under the coffin reading his name. “Sergeant Major Tyler Elliot, Loving Father, True Enforcer to the End, Honorary Honor Guard.”

Elise arrived at the house. Knocking while she fishes out her key, she begins smiling again, happy to be home. As she begins putting the key to the lock, she hears a voice behind her, “There’s the recruit. I didn’t get to see you at HQ today, how did it go? You think you’re joining us?” Recognizing the voice, her smile grows, “Aunt Dmitrovna, I think I did a damn fine job. Me and Moire’ve been hard at work to get you Brass to smile down on us.” She looks back, as she puts the key into the door, only for her to feel her hunger grow tenfold, seeing what Stella was holding in one hand.
Annuska Stella Dmitrovna, a female Human in her late thirties, with feline ears and a tail, gray hair, gray eyes, an old olive bomber jacket, a gray rain coat that’s missing its hood, black shorts, black leggings, a holstered sidearm at the top of her right leg, and black boots. Elise knew her well. She would take care of herself and Isabel once she had left SWAT team Radium, despite not being family. Stella stands with a smile, holding a paper bag emblazoned with a local fast food restaurant’s symbol. “Well I can’t say anything about what happened, Kiddo. But I can say I recommended you join under old Osiris’s banner. Now get that door open. I’m so hungry I could eat a goddamn planet.” Elise nodded in response, returning to trying to get the door open, her mind only thinking about the food now.
She jiggles the lock slightly, as the door doesn’t like unlocking or locking, but she feels the door’s knob turn completely, and open, pulling her key and hand. She smiles gleefully, as she lets go, and jumps forward when the door is open, grabbing the woman beyond the door in a hug, “Hi, Isabel!” Stella lets out some laughter, and follows the stumbling duo, closing the door behind herself. As the two hit the ground, Elise grins at the frowning and pained looking chestnut haired, hazel eyed, glasses wearing Human woman. Elise quickly stood up, panicked, “Oh! Shit! Sorry!” Isabel simply drops her head onto the floor, laying down in pain. Elise, worried and wanting to try to get Isabel to think about something other than her pain, continues speaking, “Uhm, I like your new outfit, Isabel. The tan sweater looks like Kit’s fur, and the white t-shirt and blue jean shorts things look comfy.”
A nearby meow can be heard, as the tan cat can be seen walking over, curious about what happened. Isabel doesn’t seem to care about Elise’s words right now, just mumbling near silently to herself, so much so that if Elise or Stella were normal humans, they wouldn’t have heard her words, “Dammit Elise. Why?” Elise was very upset now, so she decided to lay down beside Isabel, and hug her, yelling, “I’m sorry! Please don’t die!” Isabel simply wraps her arms around Elise, hugging back while starting to look at Stella, as she speaks calmly, yet tiredly, “Hey Aunt Stella.” Stella steps up beside the two, and crouches, patting her head, “Hello, Kiddo. You taking your medicine correctly?” Isabel simply nods in response, still hugging her sister.
Stella smiles at her “nieces” and then looks at the cat who had started approaching. The cat jumps up onto the two sisters, and sits down on Isabel's stomach, licking its paw. Dmitrovna simply reaches a hand, and gives some pets, which the cat doesn’t seem to care much about, before starting to step around the two. Elise begins sitting up, looking at the cat as well. Once Elise is sitting up properly, Isabel asks a question, “Did you see Dad? You’re only this demanding when you have.” She simply reaches up and gives the cat a bit of petting.
Elise reaches down and pulls her sister up into another hug, causing the cat to hop off and wander after Stella, "Yeah. I hope he's proud of where we are. You almost have your doctorate, I have a high chance of joining the Enforcers. He's probably proud." Isabel gives her sister what she wants, a hug, as she says, "I know he is. I don't need a mage to tell me he is, especially when we're the ones who knew him best." Elise could feel the tears welling up, and she spoke, "I keep thinking I've shed the last tears I can for him, but it just keeps coming." The two keep their embrace for a bit, hugging their pains away. Making the Elliot-shaped hole in their hearts feel less painful for now.
Stella was putting the food on the table, and letting the two get their tears out of the way. She's already shed her tears. Her blood brother would not want her crying, someone's got to be strong for his kids, especially since she's always been the closest thing to a mother for them. She glances at the cat, who was coming closer, and she crouches, quietly whispering, "Kit, come over here. I need you to help me with something." Kit begins wandering over at a leisurely pace, as is his custom. When arriving, he looked up, expecting his payment first and then his duties after. Stella, having dealt with this cat yesterday, produces a fry, and lets Kit eat it as she lays out her small plan to cheer her nieces up.
Elise and Isabel simply kept their hug for a bit, at least until a certain cat stepped up beside, and then onto their laps. The two looked at him, and his smug face, as he then quickly entered his begging for food mode. Isabel begins smiling at her cat, and softly picks him up as he keeps meowing at her, "Okay, fine. But not a lot. You can have two fries, and a small piece of chicken." Elise starts quickly getting up, wanting to help calm her sister's cat, as she heads over to the table to get some chicken.
After an hour passed, they were all in the living room, sitting and talking about inconsequential things, when suddenly Stella’s phone began to ring. She pulled out the phone, and answered it, “Hello?” She starts to look concerned as the person on the other end speaks to her, “Hold on, slow down, what?” The two sisters look at each other, confused by the fact Stella had to request someone to slow down in talking. She’s usually good at understanding a fast speaker. Stella’s eyes go wide, worrying the two, and suddenly, the Second Lieutenant reaches for the remote and turns on the television. On it, breaking news.
“This is Galaxy News with breaking news! The time is currently 7:08 PM in Haven, Andromeda. Darkness has fallen on both the city and the nation as a whole, as almost thirty minutes ago the Defensive lost an important figure to natural causes. Andromeda-5 has passed away. He was found by the Honor Guard ten minutes after his death, and after failed attempts at resuscitation, the Andromeda’s Right Hand has publicly declared the Andromeda’s demise. Clove Dakota, Andromeda-5’s daughter, is to take up the throne in his place, after Andromeda-5’s burial tomorrow. Galaxy News wishes the new Andromeda the best in her reign, and our thoughts and prayers go to her in this time of turmoil.”
The three sat stunned at this news. The leader of their nation, gone like that. Sudden and swift. Stella spoke into her phone, “I’ll be there soon.” She ends the call, and looks at the two, “I need to get back to the station, they need all hands on deck to ensure public safety. Stay home, I don’t want anything to happen to you two because of this. Gangs might be more bold with this news, thinking the Enforcers are busy.” Stella stands quickly, and begins moving quickly. It was going to be a long night for the two sisters. Elise looked at Isabel, who was simply sitting in stunned silence. With a soft hug, Elise knew she would need to focus on Isabel’s mental state tonight. A hero to the nation was dead, and the Civil War was still not over.

Elise stood silently at attention. The room she had found herself in was a locker room. She was in her fatigues, and it was her first day. To her right, other new recruits stood in the same position, and to her left stood, with a smile on her face, Moire May. Elise couldn’t help but get a small smile from the fact Moire went through with that surgery and gene alteration, just because Elise had once said she felt uncomfortable being the way she is. Elise stood silent, returning to her normal apathetic calm, as she waited for what was about to happen.
Soon the door burst open, and they heard a loud call, “Alright recruits! You’re about to have the worst day of your lives, and I’m here to warn you about it!” Dmitrovna entered the room, in her full uniform, with rank proudly shown. The Second Lieutenant approached the Privates, and spoke, “You will be bullied and harassed by your comrades, but you will not be hazed! It's gonna be shitty, but you’re Enforcers now! It’ll get better, but you’ll find that the enemy on the field will not give even a single shit, unlike your comrades! You will not be getting assignments today, instead you will be getting acquainted with those you will be working under until you are cleared to work alone! Even then, you will never be alone, you will always have one other Enforcer with you! Today, we will be pairing you together with each other! You will go through your day beside your partner, and will be suffering the same treatment as your partner! You will find desks, you will meet comrades, and you will learn the layout of this station! You will learn your job while here, and learn about your job while on patrol! Am I understood!”
The Privates all call out in response, answering affirmatively, and Dmitrovna smiles, then speaks in a far more calm tone, “Good. Remember, you are Enforcers now. Present yourselves and act like one, and there will be no problems. Welcome to the Military Police. First, we’ll do lockers. Starting from the left and going right. Andrews, you’re up, go get a lock, your tag, and then a locker.” The other end went first, indicating it was Dmitrovna’s left, and not the Privates. Elise and Moire would be last to pick, which isn’t bad, but would mean they would have the worst looking or the least comfortable. Elise was fine with this, but she did not know if Moire was.
Eventually it was their turns, and as expected, the last two lockers were the worst looking or least comfortable. Elise decided to give Moire a little mercy, and took the least comfortable locker, as Moire could easily fix the other locker with some maintenance. A few nearby Privates wonder out loud if Elise is bad at maintaining things, or just is lazy. Elise takes a glance at Moire, who she sees is clearly happy with her fixer-upper of a locker. With a small, barely present smirk, Elise sets her lock, and then stands in front of it, at attention. Dmitrovna called out, “Alright! Line up!” The Privates all began lining up beside each other, and they stood still. The Second Lieutenant spoke calmly after they had, “Today is a day of grief. Keep that in mind. Be respectful when around topics of the Andromeda. Some of you may even end up going to his funeral for security. With that, I will now set you with your partners. When you are paired up, you're dismissed, and free to explore the station. Private May, Private Second Class Elliot, you’re together.” Elise and Moire both spoke, “Understood, Ma’am.” It was going to be a rough first day, but at least they would be able to stick together for it.
