Chapter 37: Joining the Investigation
Another nice life lived through Coal leaves the illusionary space, and he goes to try and find whoever has been investigating the traitors situation to see if they had made any progress.
Entering a building he greets a few people before walking into a door in the back.
He enters an office space, where someone in a crystal suit is sitting in a chair at an office desk writing documents.
“So Trucee how is the investigation going? Any luck on finding who the traitors are?” - Coal
“Actually Coal, we do have some good news. Our interrogation of the captured invaders has yielded quite the information.” - Trucee
“What kind of information? Nothing direct about the traitor’s I assume. I mean how could they betray us for these invader’s that wish to take over our dimension!” - Coal
“Well it seems things are more complex than that. In reality the traitor’s are not really traitors to the Crystal Guardians, but were spies for this dimension ruled by humans who colonized all the planets in their dimensions by using advanced technology.
They somehow found a way to breach into our dimension, on some remote planet somewhere and just like always we sent a Crystal Guardian to the dimensional break, and they were chased away.
Wanting to try and harness the spirit energy we use to grow strong and to harvest materials from our dimension.
Higher ups in their galactic empires convinced the populace that we were the aggressors.
Since we were seen as the aggressors and attackers, they were able to focus their armies to invade our realm to defeat us before we tried to attack them.” - Trucee
Coal listens carefully to Trucee's explanation, nodding his head in understanding.
"I see, so the traitors were actually spies for the human-led dimension, and they were trying to gather information on us and our capabilities," he says. “But how were they able to wield spiritual energy? If their technology has already allowed them to harness our power, why didn’t they use that in their invasion of the citadel?”
“They used the dimension breaks across many worlds and sneaked in their people who integrated into our societies.
The children they had were able to have and harness affinities, but their parents raised them to have loyalties to their original dimension.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
These plans of theirs have been thousands of years in the making.
Especially since they would not be able to guarantee that any of the descendants would have been able to join the Crystal Guardians.
I wonder what made them think now was the time to invade.” - Trucee
Coal nods, understanding the complex situation they're facing. "It seems like they were biding their time, waiting for the right moment to strike," he says. "Perhaps they saw an opportunity in our recent conflicts with the invaders."
Trucee nods in agreement. "It's possible. And they may have also seen our recent loss of several Crystal Guardians as a weakness to exploit."
Coal takes a moment to think, then speaks up again. "We need to gather all the information we can on this human-led dimension, and their technology. We also need to find a way to strengthen our defenses and prepare for any future attacks."
Trucee nods. "Agreed. We will continue our investigations and gather any information we can. We must also remain vigilant and keep a close eye on any suspicious activity within our own ranks."
Coal nods, satisfied with their plan of action. "Thank you, Trucee. Keep me updated on any new developments."
“Oh right before I leave, did the investigation teams find any of the crystals like the ones found on some planets that destabilize the space around it? I know you all were unable to find any tampering in the ones I have asked about in the past, but with recent events I can’t help but draw links.” - Coal
Trucee nods, "Yes, actually we did find some crystals that were emitting unstable energies.
We've already deactivated all of them, but we believe that the traitors were responsible for planting them near the citadel to weaken our defenses.
Some of the crystals were taken to be studied but we left some in their original positions in case they meant something."
Coal thanks Trucee for the information and immediately asks for the locations of the crystals that were found.
Trucee provides him with a map, showing the locations where the unstable crystals were detected.
Coal studies the map carefully and makes his way to the first location.
Upon arriving, he uses his spiritual energy to scan the area and soon discovers a small crystal lying on the ground.
Coal carefully picks up the crystal, examining it closely. He notices that it has been carved with strange symbols that he doesn't recognize.
He takes out his notebook and sketches the symbols, hoping that they might be of use later on.
Coal then moves on to the next location on the map, repeating the process of scanning and searching for any unstable crystals.
He finds a few more, each with their own set of symbols, and records all of them in his notebook.
As he continues to search, Coal begins to notice a pattern in the symbols.
They all seem to be related to a specific type of spiritual energy manipulation, one that he hasn't seen before.
He starts to wonder if the humans from the other dimension have developed their own unique methods of harnessing spiritual energy.
Coal spends the next few hours scouring the locations on the map, collecting all of the unstable crystals he can find and noting down the symbols inscribed on them.
Once he's finished, he returns to the Crystal Guardians' headquarters to report his findings to Trucee and the rest of the investigation team.
After analyzing the symbols and cross-referencing them with their databases, Trucee and the team determine that the symbols are indeed related to a unique form of spiritual energy manipulation developed by the humans in the other dimension.
They realize that if the humans have developed this ability, they may have other methods and technologies that the Crystal Guardians are unaware of.
