Chapter 25: A Book with Answers

Coal, Gwen, and Gary find themselves standing in their rooms at the academy, their hearts racing as they try to comprehend what just happened.

They look around, trying to find any clues that could explain their sudden return.

They all burst out of their rooms looking at each other to confirm that what happened was not a dream or hallucination.

"Did we just teleport?" Gwen asks, her voice shaking.

"I don't know," Coal replies, his eyes scanning the surroundings. "But we need to report this to the academy authorities."

The trio quickly makes their way to the nearest faculty member and explains what happened.

The professor listens carefully, nodding thoughtfully as they recount their experience.

"Hmm, this is certainly concerning," the professor says. "We will need to investigate this further. In the meantime, I suggest you three stay close to the academy grounds and avoid any further exploration outside of our jurisdiction."

The trio nods, still feeling shaken by their experience.

As they make their way back to their dorm room, they can't help but wonder about the mysterious crystal beings they stumbled upon.

"What do you think it was?" Gary asks, breaking the silence.

"I don't know," Coal replies. "But it seemed to be some kind of being that controls space. I don’t know why, but they sent us back to somewhere we were familiar with."

“Do you think those are the sacred things those beings in the first cave were guarding? Those guardians were protecting these beings that can help others or themselves traverse space?” - Gary

“Where’d you learn all them big words, and yeah the first crystal cave is probably connected to the crystal things we saw in the second cave.” - Gwen

“Well if you joined me in the library more, your vocabulary would also be wider. Instead you prefer gambling, but you're good at it so I guess it doesn’t matter, just join me sometimes.” - Gary

“Guys! Focus, that faculty member seemed like they knew about the crystal things, so should we try and investigate more or just leave it alone?” - Coal

"I think we should leave it to the academy authorities for now," Gwen suggests. "We don't want to get ourselves into any more trouble or danger."

"I agree," Coal says. "We don't know what kind of power those crystal beings have, and we don't want to accidentally provoke them."

Gary nods in agreement, and the three of them settle into their dorm room, still processing their experience.

As the days pass, the trio tries to focus on their studies and training, but their minds keep wandering back to the mysterious crystal beings.

They can't help but wonder what other secrets the academy might be hiding.

One day, as they are walking through the academy's library, Coal notices a book on the shelf with a familiar symbol on the cover. It's the same symbol that was etched into the crystal beings they encountered.

"Hey, look at this," Coal says, pulling the book off the shelf.

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

"It's about the symbol that was on the crystal beings."

Gwen and Gary look over his shoulder, intrigued.

Coal opens the book and begins to read, skimming through the pages.

"It says here that the symbol represents a powerful force that can control space and time," Coal says, his eyes widening in realization. "This is definitely related to what we saw in the cave."

Gwen and Gary look at each other, their excitement growing.

"Keep reading, Coal," Gwen urges.

Coal continues to read, his eyes scanning the pages rapidly.

"It also says that those who possess this power can manipulate reality itself," Coal says, his voice barely above a whisper. "But there's a catch.

The power is only accessible to those who have a strong connection to the crystal beings and have been granted permission by them to use it."

"So, those guardians we encountered in the first cave were protecting not just the crystal beings but the power as well," Gary says, his eyes lighting up with excitement.

"It seems so," Coal agrees. "And it also says that those who have access to this power can travel through different dimensions and even create new ones."

The trio stares at each other in amazement.

"This is incredible," Gwen says, her eyes sparkling. "But what does it have to do with us? How can we access this power?"

"That's the question," Coal says, closing the book. "But one thing's for sure. We need to find out more about these crystal beings and their guardians. And we need to find a way to gain their trust."

"Agreed," Gary says, his mind already racing with ideas. "But we have to be careful. We don't want to get ourselves into any more trouble or danger, especially if this power is as powerful as the book says."

"Right," Coal nods. "We'll have to approach this with caution and discretion. We don't want to raise any suspicion from the academy or anyone else."

"Maybe we can start by asking around," Gwen suggests. "See if anyone else knows anything about the crystal beings or their guardians."

"Good idea," Coal agrees. "And we can also do some more research in the library. Maybe there are more books or documents about them."

The trio nods in agreement and sets off to continue their investigation, determined to unlock the secrets of the crystal beings and the power they hold.

The trio's determination to uncover the secrets of the crystal beings and their power overrides their caution, and they set out once again to search for the caves.

They explore the forest and mountains for days, searching for any sign of the caves they had stumbled upon before.

They climb steep cliffs, cross rushing rivers, and trek through dense forests, all the while keeping a watchful eye for any sign of danger.

They get into combat with some monsters and beasts in the forest, but they prove to not be much of an issue as they swiftly deal with them and continue on their journey.

Finally, on the fourth day of their search, they find themselves standing at the entrance of a cave, its walls glistening with a faint blue light.

"This has to be it," Coal says, his eyes widening in excitement. "The same cave we stumbled upon before."

"Let's go in," Gary says eagerly.

Gwen hesitates for a moment, but eventually nods her head in agreement.

The trio enters the cave, their hearts pounding with anticipation.

As they make their way deeper into the cave, they begin to hear a faint humming sound, growing louder with each step they take.

Soon, they find themselves standing in front of the same crystal beings they had encountered before, their forms glowing brightly with energy.

The trio approaches cautiously, trying to appear non-threatening. The crystal beings regard them silently, their forms pulsing with energy.

After a moment, Coal steps forward and addresses them.

"Great guardians of the crystals," he says, his voice steady. "We seek your knowledge and guidance. We come in peace, and mean no harm."

The crystal beings regard him silently for a moment, before one of them speaks.

"Why have you returned?" it asks, its voice resonating with power.

"We seek to learn more about your kind and the power you possess," Coal replies.

"We want to understand how we can gain your trust and access the power you possess."

The crystal beings regard the trio silently for a moment longer, before another one speaks.

"Your intentions are pure," it says. "But the power we possess is not to be taken lightly.

It can be a great force for good or for evil. It must only be used by those who are worthy and responsible."

"We understand," Gwen says, stepping forward. "But we believe we can be worthy and responsible. We are willing to do whatever it takes to gain your trust and prove ourselves."

The crystal beings regard the trio silently once more, before finally speaking again.

"Very well," they say. "We will test your worthiness and see if you are truly capable of handling the power we possess. If you pass our tests, we will consider granting you access to our power."

The trio nods eagerly, their hearts racing with excitement and anticipation.

"Thank you," Coal says. "We will do whatever it takes to prove ourselves worthy."

And with that, the crystal beings begin to glow brightly, their forms pulsing with energy.

The trio watches in awe as the cave begins to transform around them, the very fabric of reality seeming to warp and bend.
