POV Aron Brightcloud
Pain lanced through my body. Suddenly in the air my arms waved about wildly before I crashed into the ground. Still muddy headed, I scanned the surroundings. Recognising the floor in my bedroom. A slim person wearing a black camo stood atop my bed and held an evil-looking shortsword in her hand.
Before I could come up with a plan, she jumped in my direction. In the air she turned her sword. She obviously planned to nail me to the ground. At the last second I rolled to the side, missing the deadly attack. Immediately following it up with a kick to her midsection, it made her skip backwards and bought myself some time. I needed to get out of here! I would only survive, if I was able to rally the guards. Trying to fight an assassin with my bare hands, wearing only shorts, was a hopeless endeavor.
Coming up running I speeded in the door's direction. I suddenly felt acute danger and threw myself flat on the ground. Not half a second later a short-sword flew over my body, burying itself deeply in the door and jamming it shut.
Damn, I needed an alternative escape path.
I quickly stood up and glanced back. The black-clothed assassin was strolling in my direction, knowing her victory was inevitable. I desperately searched for a way out. The window! Without wavering, I threw myself through the glass. Everything was better than to stay in this room.

POV Sephiroth
It was around four o’clock in the morning, Aron was sleeping peacefully in his bed. Sephiroth stealthily moved closer until she could touch him. Bending over, she lightly caressed his face. He appeared so young and Innocent, had she not seen what was going on in his mind, she would have felt bad doing what she was going to do now. But she knew, and that made all the difference.
He needed to feel the fear and anxiety that only could be felt when death was near. This would serve him as an excellent experience for the future.
Sephiroth withdrew her caressing hand and viciously kicked him into the side, throwing him out of the bed. Aron reacted admirably. He immediately tried to get space between himself and her. Instead of attacking in a fit of youthful anger, he acted strategically and tried to escape. She couldn’t let that happen. As he turned his back towards her, she threw one of her blades.
It would show him to not turn his back on an assassin. The blade would incapacitate him without hurting the important organs. He would bleed but that was nothing that couldn’t be fixed. At the last moment he dived to the ground, avoiding her blade.
Not bad. He had better survival instincts than she had given him credit for. It didn’t matter, the door was now forcefully shut. He couldn’t escape. She would torture him a bit before stopping the charade.
At that moment he did something she hadn’t expected. He suddenly jumped to the side and crashed through the window.
Oh crap! That was going to be hard to explain.
Sephiroth immediately followed her charge. Hopefully he didn’t hurt himself too badly.

POV Aron Brightcloud
I came down in the middle of shattered glass pieces and rolled forward to negate as much force as possible. My chambers were on the first floor that amounted to a fall of over twelve feet! Through sheer luck I didn’t break any bones. Even so, my joints were hurting and lacerations on my feet reminded me that landing on sharp glass splinters wasn’t the best of ideas.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
In a split second I took stock and decided how to proceed. Trying to flee into the city would be my death sentence. The patrols were spread too thin. I wouldn’t make it two blocks before the assassin caught up to me.
Speaking of the devil, the assassin had arrived at the window and was looking down at me. Without delay, she jumped.
My time was fleeting, I had to move! Somehow I had the feeling that I couldn’t hope for her to break a bone during the landing. Without delay I sprinted towards the next window and jumped. I had to get back into the mansion.
Right before I crashed through it a hand grabbed me at my scruff and pulled me back.
“No, you don’t! I already have enough to explain! I won’t let you break another window!”
I got thrown backwards, away from my path to rescue. Her words confused me, but I couldn’t afford to think on it. Something was glinting in the moonshine not far away from me. Yes! Thankfully the servants had forgotten to put away the practice swords. I immediately dived for it. It was blunted, but at least it was a weapon. If I was able to last long enough, the guards and Sephiroth would appear.
That’s right, where was Sephiroth? she should have been guarding me. Hopefully nothing had happened to her.
That was all I had time to think before a noticeable angry assassin threw herself at me. One overhead swing, a side swing, a kick and another side swing came quickly after each other, raining down on me. Thanks to all my training, I defended myself somehow. I couldn’t even think about attacking her. The attacks came too fast.
I focused solely on staying alive. Using every trick I had learned, I held on for the moment but I couldn’t prevent the inevitable. During a parry, she pushed my blade to the side. The resulting hole was immediately exploited. She gave me a ferocious kick into the stomach. I keeled over, sudden pain lancing through my body. I heaved for air as I lay incapacitated on the ground. Would I die again? This time for real?
A furious voice interrupted my thoughts.
“You Idiot! Why did you have to jump through the window!?” Followed by the flat side of her blade into my rips. Letting me grunt in pain.
“Do you know how hard this will be to explain!?” Another swing of her blade followed, bringing me even more pain.
What was going on? Why was she not killing me!? Wait I knew this voice!
At that moment The black figure pulled off her mask and Sephiroth’s gorgeous face appeared.
“We have not much time! Your mother will seriously punish me if she finds out that I have made you jump out of a window. So, throw away the sword. Tell her later that you have been sleeping and suddenly woke up down here. Say you had to have been sleepwalking and accidentally broke through the window.”
While talking she got rid of her assassin clothes and stood now only in her nightgown before me.
_______
POV Sephiroth
The situation was still salvageable, Aron had only to tell his mother the story she had prepared for him and everything would be fine. His mother would have reservations, but as long as Aron didn’t tell her what really happened, she couldn’t do a thing.
Sephiroth relaxed inwardly. It would be fine. At that moment Aron grinned mischievously at her. Oh, no! NO! don’t do that. She wanted to open her mouth to persuade him, but at that moment Aron’s mother appeared.
Sephiroth could only look at him with her most pitiful expression and hope that he would change his mind.
But her attempts only achieved the opposite. His previous slight grin had grown to a full blown smile. He mouthed silently “prank war” and winked at her. No! That couldn’t be happening, it was supposed to be her that pranked him, not the other way around!
“Aron! What happened here? Are you alright?!”
Her charge turned himself towards his mother. His gleeful smile disappeared, replaced by a shocked countenance.

POV Aron Brightcloud
I turned myself to my mother. Pay back time! I was going to enjoy this so much! The best thing was, she had officially called for a prank war. I didn’t even need to feel bad about it.
