CHAPTER 8:
Skyler sighed, scratching his head. Ground turkey, seasoned to perfection, was sizzling in the frying pan, a meaty aroma filling the kitchen.
“Yo! How’d practice go today?” A boy said, waddling over to him.
Skyler turned, smiling. It was his friend and roommate Justin.
“Fire bro, hit a homerun today in the scrimmage,” Skyler responded, turning back to the stove.
“Okay!” Justin said excitedly. “What are you making?”
“Just some ground turkey and rice,” Skyler said, mixing the turkey in the pan. “The usual. Gotta bulk up.”
“Yeah, your skinny ass does need to bulk,” Justin chuckled.
“Bro, I gained 15 pounds since this semester started,” Skyler tsked. “Stop playing with me.”
“Yeah, yeah, still looking skinny,” Justin responded, walking back over to the living room.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
“Man, shut up. Your fat ass gotta lose weight,” Skyler retorted, hearing the rice cooker start beeping. “Ah, perfect timing, I’m really that guy, bro.”
Justin laughed, turning on the the Xbox and sitting down on the couch. “We hitting the gym after you eat?”
Skyler turned off the stove and opened the rice cooker. “Yeah, what time is it?”
“It’s 9:30,” Justin said, looking at his phone.
“Nah, maybe not then,” Skyler replied, plating his food and walking over to the dinner table. “I think I’m just gonna play League. Fridays are off days anyways.”
“Ah, you sure bro?” Justin looked over his shoulder at Skyler. “Gotta get big!”
“Yeah bro, we’ll lift tomor–” Skyler felt a sharp pain in his temples, reverberating through his skull.
Skyler fell to his knees, his plate of food shattering off the floor. Then, he passed out, falling to his side. He awoke to a vision of himself laying on the floor. A long bony finger stretched out in front of him, touching him lightly on the forehead. A blinding light radiated from the fingertip, filling his vision with a bright white. Suddenly, he woke up. Pushing himself up off the floor into a sitting position he rubbed his temples, realizing the pain that immoblilized him had ceased. Justin was standing over him, a worried look in his eyes. He reached down, trying to help Skyler to his feet. But Skyler hardly even noticed Justin, for floating a foot in front of Skyler’s face was a rectangular gray screen reading:
