CHAPTER 2:
“Well, not quite yet, though your powers are the same as mine. Or at least the same as the ones I have back in the underworld,” Lucifer responded, his smile widening. “But you… You can use my powers here on Earth. This will be fun!”
Lucifer cackled to himself, his whole body reverberating with glee. Looking at Lucifer it was weird, he just looked so otherworldly. It seemed like our world was changing, for better or for worse. I couldn’t hold in my excitement though, to think I had the opportunity to unlock superpowers. It was like a dream come true. I felt like I had become the main character of an anime.
My body involuntarily shuddered and I smirked at Lucifer, “So what, am I the Devil now?”
“You’re whatever you want to be,” Lucifer replied. “And I just can’t wait to see what you become. Will you defend Earth from the apocalypse and be a hero, or will you reshape the world to your own desires?”
I pondered this for a moment, realizing it was entirely up to me what I would do once I had unlocked my powers. Becoming a hero sounded interesting, though on the other hand so did doing whatever I wanted to and being free.
My grin was still plastered on my face as I responded to Lucifer, “Well, that’s up for me to decide. So, let’s get started.”
Lucifer floated around the room, not even propelling himself with his wings but seemingly levitating. He stopped in front of the door.
“Wait a second, can you be more quiet, I don’t want my roommate to be able to hear you,” I looked toward the door.
“Oh, don’t worry about that,” Lucifer replied. “Only you can hear or see me right now. If anything he would merely think you are talking to yourself.”
I sighed with relief, it was better he thought I was going crazy than for him to be able to hear Lucifer. I think.
“Well, I guess we should start with square one. Close your eyes and look up toward the center of your forehead.” Lucifer instructed. “What do you see?”
I did as told, closing my eyes and looking upward, “I see… a dark blue amorphous blob about the size of a quarter.”
“That is your third eye, it is still not clear,” Lucifer said. “Your first step is to make that into a perfect circle, only then will you begin to be able to use your powers.”
I focused hard, the blue moving and transforming, it was as if the edges of the blob moved with a will of its own. I sat there as minutes passed, trying to control my third eye. But I couldn’t. I opened my eyes. Lucifer was still there, watching me patiently. Last year, I had spent a significant portion of my time meditating, and I had always been able to see this dark blue color of my third eye, though it was more of a solid shape now. I pushed myself back onto my bed and pulled my feet into a crisscross position. I rested my hands on my lap, fingers intertwined with my thumbs barely touching tips. I closed my eyes once more. This time, while the dark blue blob shifted around the edges, it did feel like I had some control. I was able to move it at points where I focused and brought the wavy edges toward the blob’s center. What felt like hours passed and I still was unable to fully perfect the shape, though it did begin to resemble a circle. It was too early to give up though, if I couldn’t even get past this first step I wouldn’t be able to use my powers. I sat there for a few moments, eyes still closed. Then an idea struck me. What if I visualized just one point on the edge of the circle quickly moving around the circumference? I imagined a tiny white light, like a spark, moving around the edge of the circle, closing in all the wavy edges. It started working, the circle became perfectly round as the spark ran along its path. I moved the spark faster and faster and soon the circle became perfect with a white halo encompassing it where the spark moved.

I opened my eyes and smirked at Lucifer, “Done.”
A window popped up in front of me, it read:
Skills Unlocked: [Third Eye] Level 1, [Telekinesis] Level 0
As soon as I had read it, the window disappeared.
A slight smile crept up on Lucifer’s face, “With that you have unlocked your first skill, telekinesis.”
Around me, stuff in my room started floating. Pens and papers on my desk started moving and twirling in the air and snacks under my desk started floating up to the ceiling.
“Woah,” I exclaimed, looking around in awe. “Did I do this?”
I poked a pen that floated in front of me, but it didn’t budge. It was as if it was locked in place. Then, everything started slowly moving back to its original position. Lucifer fell to the floor with a light plop, breathing heavily.
“God… is that all I can do, what’s become of my powers,” He wheezed. “I guess I really can barely do anything here on Earth. Anyways, give it a shot.”
“Okay…” I said, looking at the pen I had just touched which now lay motionless on my desk.
I focused hard, pointing my hand at the pen and willing it to fly up into the air. Suddenly, the pen started wobbling back and forth before levitating a few centimeters above the desk. I focused on it moving higher and it shakily floated up toward the ceiling. Suddenly, a wave of exhaustion hit me and the pen fell, clacking off the desk and hitting the floor. My hand dropped and I took a few deep breaths. It seemed this wouldn’t be such an easy task.
“Not bad, I can tell you figure things out quickly,” Lucifer grinned. “I look forward to you unlocking your other skills.”
A window popped up in front of me, much like the ones I had seen after I passed out. It read:
Skill Updated: [Telekinesis] Level 1
I smirked, exhilaration flooding my veins. “Just you wait, I’ll have this mastered by the end of the night.”
I pulled up my status window to check my stats. The ‘Ability’ stat had updated, and my stats now read:
Strength: 10
Agility: 8
Ability: 2
I checked my phone, it was now 2 pm, and a few hours had passed since the celestial event. I looked back at the pen on the floor and pointed my hand at it. Once again the pen shakily rose into the air.
