Chapter 299

Hendrix didn't have eyes on the back of his head, so this time, the pillow hit its mark. But he didn't even pause, nor did he turn to look at her. He simply walked out as if nothing had happened.

Noelle suddenly felt everything was... pointless. In front of him, she couldn't change a single thing.

It was like the pillow she'd thrown. She had hurled with all the fury she could muster, but ultimately, it didn't hurt him. All it did was make her seem even more foolish.

Noelle ended up going to the hospital. On the way, she saw the statement Dylan had released.

He hadn't outright announced that their wedding was off. Instead, he said it was being postponed. As for how long the postponement would last, the statement didn't specify.

But most people understood that "postponed" was just a polite way of saying canceled. Over time, as the delay dragged on and people eventually forgot about it, the wedding would quietly fade away without ever being officially called off.

Noelle stared at the statement for a few minutes, scrolling through some of the comments beneath it before silently closing her phone.

Just then, the hospital came into view.

After yesterday's news broke, a swarm of reporters had gathered outside the hospital. Fortunately, the security team was competent, keeping them all outside the entrancenoveldrama

Still, the moment Noelle stepped out of the car, she caused a ripple of commotion among the crowd. "Some industry insiders claim this is a deliberate attempt to frame Elm Group. Do you have any comments on that?"

"What are your plans for Elm Group moving forward?"

"Will Elm Group go bankrupt?"

"Is it true that your father has regained consciousness? After such a major blow, does he have anything to say?"

Microphones and cameras pressed closer and closer to Noelle, and it wasn't until the hospital's security staff stepped in that she was finally freed from the chaos.

Noelle didn't respond to a single question, but her refusal to speak only fueled the reporters' speculation, giving them plenty of material to twist and stretch.

Before long, articles began popping up. One after another, the articles seized on Noelle's silence, using it as a basis for speculation. They claimed her lack of response was because there was nothing left to say that Elm Group had undoubtedly reached the point of no return.

Craig's condition was also painted in a grim light. The reports even included several photos of Noelle at the hospital entrance. Her face was pale and haggard, making anyone who saw her feel a pang of sympathy. As a result, the reports seemed even more credible.

However, Noelle felt nothing, because at this moment, Elmi Group's stock had once again hit its limit down. She didn't check her phone again. After closing her eyes briefly, she headed straight toward the hospital room.

Craig had woken up the night before. Before leaving, Dylan had even arranged for a caregiver, who was

now

carefully feeding Craig spoonfuls of soup.

Craig's complexion was pale, but his overall spirit seemed decent. However, the moment he saw Noelle, his expression changed abruptly.

Without hesitation, just as Noelle was about to step inside, Craig grabbed the bowl from the caregiver's hands and

mid-step. hurled it at her feet. The scalding soup splashed up, landing on Noelle's lower leg and making her pause

But Craig wasn't done. He reached for the cup on the bedside table, ready to throw it next. This time, the caregiver snapped out of their shock and quickly held down Craig's hand. "Mr. Swanson, you've just woken up. You can't get too worked up."

Craig ignored the caregiver's plea, pointing an accusing finger at Noelle instead. "Get out! You ungrateful little traitor, get out of here right now!"
