CHAPTER 39: A DUBIOUS MOVE

CHAPTER 39: A DUBIOUS MOVE

Alard took his seat at the lunch table. With his blank expression neither Lloyd nor Phannor could tell he was just in the midst of a scuffle.

Alric decided to take the seat closest to Christiana, afterall he hadn’t seen her the longest of the trio.

Christina got deet red as she sprung up and bowed.

“Nice to see you today Alard.

Here, I made you some lunch.”

Her bow was getting better by Alric’s standard. He had now just realized how gifted she really was with her double D’s plus her curves, not to mention the slight green in her hair made her fairly attractive.

She stretched out a boxed lunch to give Alric.

“I know you don’t take words at face value… so I made this lunch for you to show you how serious I am.”

Alirc was surprised at first, what did a boxed lunch have to do with getting stronger?

But then he realized that she was practically trembling. This was her trying to overcome her dependence on the people around her.

It was the same as moving from the soup kitchen line to the one making the soup. Sure it wasn’t much but it was movement nonetheless. Alric smiled inwardly at the gesture.

Alric accepted the lunch and bowed gracefully.

Christina stared closely as he pulled the box and took up his fork to taste it.

Alric was a little uneasy at her staring him down but he swallowed the food regardless.

It was absolutely horrendous.

Despite her beauty her food was not meant to be eaten by living creatures.

Alric’s face twisted as he stretched out his hand and flicked her forehead before speaking.

“It’s absolutely horrendous. Do you always make your own lunch?”

Despite his multitude of imperfections Alric was an honest fellow to the bone.

He asked, growing paler as he continued to eat.

“No. my mom usually makes my-”

Her answer was cut short when Alric threw a fork full of her own food in her mouth. Her face turned from deep red to deadly pale, the taste was horrible.

She jumped into a corner ready to cry however when she peeked behind her she saw Alric continue to eat calmly. It was obvious he was holding in his disgust.

Both Phannor and Lloyd looked on in surprise as they watched him eat the disgusting goop of a food,

“How-”

Before either of them could finish their question. Alric had already thrown a fork full of food in both of their mouths leaving them on the floor rolling for dear life.

Spoon after spoon Alric ate the look of torment barely held back by the facade of a smile.

Before long Alric was finished and closed the box.

Alric gave Christina a deep bow

“Thank you for the food, lady Christina.”

Alric walked off weakly.

With jelly-like legs, Alric stormed off heading towards the bathroom.

The last and longest class of the day was colonel Clover’s polemology.

The class had gathered in the same arena set up that they had fought in last time.

“For today’s class and for the rest of the we will be learning to fight at a disadvantage both as an individual and as a team.”

Colonel Clover looked over at Alric and Anka as he emphasized the word ‘team’.

“And after that examine a few historical battles with the same concepts.”

Clover clapped his hand before pointing out Alric.

“Since you’re the number one student this part should be easy. Take the stage.”

Clover pointed at the arena’s square then pointed at two other students.

“Oii, Lloyd and Silverwing join him together!”

Silverwing was still a little shaken up after what had happened before lunch. Even now he still wondered if Alric really was going to kill him and all of his brothers.

And now he was unlucky enough to have to fight him. Inwardly he wanted nothing more than to dig a hole and hide from that creep of a student.

Meanwhile Lloyd didn’t feel any better. From the moment he had seen Alric fighting during the entrance test he knew they were in completely different leagues.

“Oii two of you pick out a wooden weapon first!”

Clover took both of them from their hesitation and ordered them while he threw a wooden dagger at Alric.

Alric caught the wooden dagger with a look of questioning to colonel Clover.

“The rules are simple. In order to mimic exhaustions you aren’t allowed to use anything except the basic universal spells. Meanwhile your attacks will have their full arsenal at their disposal.”

Alric was taken aback by the unfairness Clover was trying to put him through.

Meanwhile Lloyd and Silverwing felt like a ton of bricks had been removed from their backs.

They both looked at each other with a creepy expression before taking the stage.

“Okay, the task is simple, incapacitate the opponent or opponents!

Now…

Fight!”
