Chapter 36: Catgirl nap

With that settled, I realize that for the next four hours until sunset, I must remain here in the Guild’s secret chamber. This is because my illegal ID registration process can only begin once the Guild’s business hours have concluded and the chambers are empty.

“I’ll return to my office now. You guys can let Karven know if you need anything,” Karlogen says.

“Alright, see you later, Karl,” Eris replies.

“Yes, and thank you, Guildmaster Karl,” I add.

Karlogen then smiles back, bows slightly, and gracefully walks out of the room. Now, only Eris and I are left, the chamber feeling noticeably quieter.

“Well, four hours is a long wait. But there’s nothing we can do,” Eris says. She then lets out a big yawn and turns to me. “Felicia, let’s take a nap!”

Seeing her yawn, I can’t help but yawn too. My catgirl eyelids already feel unbearably heavy. I’m not sure if it’s all the food I ate earlier or perhaps my catgirl genetics making me so sleepy.

“Yeaaaaahhh…. I’m gonna move to another couch,” I say sheepishly.

But before I can even set my foot down, Eris swiftly grabs my arm.

“No, stay here.” she says.

“Eh? But there isn’t enough space for the two of us?”

“But I need to hold your hands!” Eris exclaims.

“Rightttt!”

We’ve promised to always hold hands when we sleep now. But…

With this limited space on the couch, how can we make it possible?

“Leave it to me,” Eris declares confidently.

She then stands up and walks over to another couch.

Hup!

She lifts it effortlessly with one hand, then

Bam!

She places the two couches right next to each other, making a couch bed.

Jumping onto the newly formed couch bed, Eris smiles brightly at me. “Hehe, now there’s enough space. Let’s nap!”

“Nn!”

We both lay down, facing each other, our hands intertwining. Within seconds, Eris dozes off. Soon after, I follow suit, drifting into a restful sleep alongside her.

————————

And just like that, me and Eris take a nap.

In my dream, it’s my birthday, and Eris buys me a year worth of sleimfisch.

Let’s just say…

It was a weird dream.

But then, as I open my eyes, waking up.

Eh?

BA-DUMP!

Somehow, our faces have come incredibly close to each other; I can feel her warm breath softly brushing against my lips. Startled, I swiftly flip myself onto my back, my heart pounding rapidly in my chest.

Holy crap, that was dangerously close!

At some point, we must have shifted in our sleep, and we almost… almost ended up kissing!

It takes me a solid minute to calm down and steady my breathing. When I finally sit up, I glance at the clock across the room, surprised to see there are still two hours left until business hour is over.

However, now that I’m fully awake, I can’t sleep anymore!

Well, guess I will just lay down and watch Eris sleep then!

And I do so.

Oh my…

She’s so beautiful, even in her sleep.

I think I can do this all day, watching her that is.

Her hair cascades softly over the pillow, her gentle breathing creates a soothing rhythm, and her lips rest delicately.

They look so soft… so tempting…

I can’t help but wonder what it would feel like to kiss her…

Before I know it, I’m leaning closer, my thoughts drifting, as though I’m drawn by some invisible force. Just a small, gentle peck… she won’t notice… right?

But just then, Eris’s eyelids flutter ever so slightly.

BA-DUMP!

I snap back, heart thumping wildly.

Damn it, Felicia! What are you doing?

Eris is beautiful, no question, but I can’t just kiss her like that! Even if she wouldn’t notice, that’s not okay! Consent. You need consent!

With a deep sigh, I try to shake off the temptation. That was far too close. Deciding lying down is no longer an option, I look around for something—anything—to distract myself.

An idea suddenly comes to mind.

Wait… there’s a library here, right? Where there’s a library, there are books! Maybe I can ask Karven to lend me some. That should keep me busy and help me learn more about this world too!

Good thinking, me!

With that in mind, I carefully get out of the couch bed without waking Eris up. Then, I tip toe out of the room, slowly walk up the stairs.

Step by step, I make my way to the door to the main floor. Karven had told me that if I needed anything, I should simply knock on the door, and he would be there to assist me. So, I gently knock three times and wait for a moment, knowing that Karven might be busy tending to some adventurers at the moment.

To my surprise, the door opens immediately, and Karven stands there, a polite smile on his face.

“Miss Felicia, do you need anything?”

“Ah, yes!” I reply. “I was wondering… could I borrow some books to read?”
