Chapter 23. The plot thickens

The next few days where a flurry of reactions, Kou did not try to hide the change she underwent, many people were shocked and surprised - the common people felt left behind and some of the noble children were fuming in jealousy, one particular one, was currently cursing in his room.

“This dirty child!” His fist crashed into his bedside table and the wood cracked. “I’ve been trying to make her life miserable, but everything seems to fail, she does not care about people she does not care about appearances and she… she actually dared to be on the same cultivation level as I now!”

The boy was throwing a fit with nobody as a witness, he was so angry his cute face was all red, if Kou would be here she would actually not know who he is, he was the boy.. she snatched the backpack from! The one that was so engulfed into watching a sugar painter! But can you blame him?! He had never left their estate!

So when the sect underling came to respectfully escort him to the sect, of course, he took his time to look at things! That’s just natural! Goddamit! When he realized that his bag and the man were gone he was left all alone and stunned there!

That stinking girl.. he thought he would never get his hands on her but then he runs into her right here! And the damnable THIEF does not even recognize him, he has been glaring at her a lot and she gives no kind of reaction at all!

And now when she passed him today! She was completely changed! She was no longer the dirty child - she looked like a white little flower! She had awakened her bloodline even before most of the nobles, this was a huge sensation and actually put him… HIM behind her in power.

“I will find a way to pay you back…Yun Kou!”

Xiu Shihong’s reaction, on the other hand, was much more… hands on. The moment she saw Kou for the first time after her change she dragged the girl to the side, her tiny and soft hands touch Kou’s skin, hair and … ears.

Having her ears touched felt weird ticklish and a bit uncomfortable, but she let the other girl do what she wanted, she squealed a little here and there but soon calmed back down again.

“My… To think your bloodline would be adorable, I would’ve guessed that If you had one it would be something stoic like a horse or something.” She was joking of course “Awwh… I want to pet your ears so badly, have you touched them? They are quite exquisite, your hair is also a lot softer, as is your skin - you will need to take care of this!”

And so Xiu Shihong arranged a date to go shopping at a later day - mumbling something about skincare and shampoo. Was that tasty?

Both her teachers reacted with praise to her, while she got to be the one getting pills again in their spiritual lessons, leaving her with 5 Red Soul pills - which apparently would help her step into the second realm, and help her stabilize there. Elder Gui just simply slapped her left shoulder loudly and laughed out “Good Good! At least some of the commoners can keep up!”

Of course, the boys that had invited her for the test, at first they seemed a bit unclear on how to react but at some point, one of them came over - it was the monk-like Jie Ciao.

“I have to congratulate, Miss Yun, me and my friends are overjoyed to find our companion to be growing in strength.” As he spoke the others approached too.

Mu Feng grinned “Ya, He next week we gonna do it, the evening of the free day, that all right with ya?” The other boys nodded slightly, Kou could see that their eyes were following her ears every time they twitched slightly…

They arranged the time properly and where they would meet up and parted ways after the training, Kou quickly made her way back home - but the boys stayed behind…

“Yo…Boss do you really think we should still take her?” this time it was Wang Xioachun and he spoke to Jie Ciao in a somewhat concerned tone.

“There is no one else small enough to fit through that hole, or did you see any child that is as tiny as she is? She will have to do, if it offends her, later on, we will have to deal with it, in this world you may have to make enemies in order to gain benefits, if you stay docile and passive you will be left behind, Xiaochun.”

The monk boy was the leader of this little group, he had vastly better talent than all of them - he was the strongest of them and also the most knowledgable.

Wang Xioachun nodded slowly.. “Let’s just hope she does not take offense, I dun really want to be at odds with someone that awakened their bloodline so early”

Jie Ciao shook his head towards that and looked to the side.. These buffons, a girl suddenly becomes cute and they second guess themselves, in order to grow in the outer sect you have to use others as stepping stones…

Yun Kou, his “friends.” everyone will be a stepping stone for him..Jie Ciao - he will rise out of this step into the true path of cultivation and take back what was rightfully his!

Li Zhi’s reaction was much like Xiu Shihong albeit, with much more restraint, the girl was faintly glowing as she looked at Kou, as if she was some kind of really cute animal, which mad Kou uncomfortable.

“Now that you’ve awaked should you not get some more clothes? I don’t think the black is too flattering.. maybe a cute dress in pink or white.. some bows? Here I lend you one of my ribbons!”

Kou tried to defend herself against this but was unable too - and so she ended up with a red ribbon bound around her right ear - luckily it was of an amber color which was fitting with her eyes.

After torturing Kou a bit Li Zhi just like Xiu Shihong arranged a date with Kou - but this time it was for learning and not shopping, as Kou had told her that Xiu Shihong had already forced her to say yes.

After all of that Kou was exhausted, the human heart is a weird thing to be swayed so much by appearance… Xiu Shihong and Li Zhi had treated her well before but now .. it was different, just because she changed a bit, she suddenly got a lot more glares or stares! Exhausting.

And so she started to take a roundabout way to get to places, her art was rather useful for that - she could just move in the shadows of houses and trees and could avoid the pathways, this was actually pretty fun.

So she spends the next few days familiarizing herself with her new cultivation technique, it was a lot more potent than the ancient cloud one - but in turn, it was also more exhausting on the mind, still quite quickly most of her Qi was either Dark or Light attuned.

Soon would be the day she would set out with Ji Ciao’s group, but first she would visit the archive, Shi Shi had promised to give her arts - but she did not want to put all her faith into the woman, as much as she liked her - Kou would always try to be as self-sufficient as possible and she had gathered enough points to choose an art from the higher floors.
