“Who’s that?” Xinexa asks Lexy, who was right behind her.
“I don’t know!” he whisper-yells.
Suddenly, as if she had heard them, the mysterious girl turned and looked directly at their hiding spot. She narrowed her eyes.
“I can see you. You might as well come out,” she says.
Xinexa drops a sweat. Oh no! Fork will know we’ve been spying on her. Lexy says something under his breath. Something Xinexa cannot repeat. Not that it was bad or anything, just she has no idea what it was because it sounded like, “stpdxnxwwndthvbnnthsmssfyhdntdfrcdmt” or something.
“Let’s get out of here,” Xinexa communicates to Lexy, using her wolf sense so that they wouldn’t have to talk.
He looks at her and nods. They slowly back away until they reach the cafeteria doors. Once they are safely inside, they start talking.
“What do you think they were doing Lexy?” Xinexa asks, half worried and half curious.
“I don’t know but we can’t snoop like that anymore,” he tells me.
Just as she was about to reply, the Three LPs strolled over and sat at their table.
“What’s up Lexy?” says Penelope.
Lexy gives Penelope a hard look,
“You aren’t allowed to call me Lexy, only Xinexa and Fork can”.
“Whyyy?” Penelope asks, trying to win him over with a pouty face.
“Cause’ I don’t know you,” he replies.
“You can get to know me,” Penelope says softly, putting her hand on his shoulder.
He shrugs it off and glares her.
“You can get to know me too,” the twins say simultaneously, then they whip their heads toward each other, glaring.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“No thanks,” says Lexy, still trying to ignore them.
Penelope scoffs but doesn’t move from the table.
“Where’s your shiny friend?” asks Portia.
“None of your business,” Xinexa snaps.
“Do you think we didn’t see you sneak away?” says a smug-looking Petra.
If they saw us then I wonder how many other people saw us…
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Xinexa scoffs, giving them the most innocent look she could muster.
Just then, Fork bursts through the door. Lexy and Xinexa both act as if nothing had just happened. The three LPs were watching her with a weird fascination. Fork runs over to them,
“Hey guys! I’m back!” she says, breathing heavily.
“Where’d you go?” Xinexa asks calmly, trying not to sound suspicious.
“Oh um I went to err… uh...the bathroom! Yeah the bathroom,” she replies.
She just lied! That definitely means she’s hiding something. Xinexa looks over at Lexy and sends him signals, silently asking if they should inquire about what’s going on. He reluctantly nods.
“Hey, Fork you know you can tell us anything right?” Xinexa starts slowly.
“Yeah, why not?” Fork says.
“Are you hiding something Fork?” asks Lexy.
Fork’s face drops. She doesn’t really pale because she’s made of metal but there’s an obvious change.
“Why don’t you tell them?” says Penelope, she’s making a strange face and so are the twins. Fork’s eyes turn from their usual silvery blue to pitch black.
“I’m working for the Lox,” she says in a weird robotic voice. Then her eyes fade back to their normal silver, and she shakes her head.
“What happened?” she asks.
Then she turns and looks at the three porkateers and narrows her eyes.
“You-you witches!” screams Fork, lunging at Penelope.
Penelope’s strange face morphed in surprise. Fork’s fist slammed into Penelope’s stomach, knocking the air out of her and sending her flying across the cafeteria.
“Oomph!” says Penelope, as she hits the wall.
Lexy and Xinexa just stare in shock. Next, Fork grabs a twin’s arm in each hand. She starts to spin faster and faster. She lets go and it was the twins turn to go flying into the wall.
“Ow!” says Petra.
“Like totally uncool!” says Portia, rubbing her injured back.
“Hey what’re you doing Fork?” Xinexa asks, a little bit frightened.
“Those girls are evil in a way you’ve never imagined,” she says through gritted teeth.
