As we walked down the hallway, I noticed all the shocked stares and heated glares pointed at us, or should I say, me.
“Who’s that guy walking with the loser dog,” someone whispered.
Of course, Xinexa can always hear those whispers, even from far away. She and Lexy both have wolf senses, so they can tell if someone is whispering or if they haven't showered in a few days… it can be a blessing and a curse.
“Hey! New boy! Wanna walk with me instead?” says Penelope, who the pair didn’t even realize was still following close behind us.
“No thanks. I thought you didn’t like dogs like me?” says Lexy before gripping Xinexa’s hand tighter and dashing down the hallway.
They finally make it to the classroom without any more disruptions. Lexy plops down in the back of the class and Xinexa sits down next to him.
“Good morning class. For those of you who don’t know me, I am Mr. Spoon,” says Mr. Spoon in his monotone voice.
Of course, Xinexa can’t dislike him because he’s the father of her best friend, Fork Spoon. Fork Spoon: six feet tall, silver, and the best friend a girl could have. She and Fork have been best friends since kindergarten. Well, since Xinexa was in kindergarten, she and Lexy were in third grade. Xinexa, Lexy, and Spoon used to hang out all the time until he left.
“EXCUSE ME!” someone rudely yells in Xinexa’s ear.
“What? Oh, hi Fork,” she says, not knowing why she’d just been yelled at such a close proximity.
“Did you not hear me calling your name for like the last 10 minutes?!” Fork says, sounding exasperated.
Was she calling my name? I didn’t even realize.
“Well...what did you want?” Xinexa asks cautiously.
“A ‘hello’ would be nice? And the reason you didn’t tell me that Lexy was here!” she exclaims.
“Where were you this morning anyways?” Xinexa asks, remembering that she wasn’t there this morning when she’d bumped into Lexy.
“I-I had some things to take care of,” Fork looks down as if guilty of something.
“What kind of things?” Xinexa asks, raising one eyebrow.

“N-Never mind that, just forget about it” she says.
Xinexa turns to Lexy, who’d been listening to the conversation.
“She is definitely hiding something. And I’m gonna find out what,” she tells him quietly
“Yeah she’s probably hiding something, but you can’t just barge into her business,” Lexy says.
“Why not? Best friends shouldn’t have secrets anyway,”
When the bell rings they all head off to lunch. A lot of students have to use different eating areas because of what they are in their true forms. Like Fork’s sister, Daisy. Daisy took after her mom: Dish Spoon, so she gets upset when she sees people eating on glass dishes. Fork is a tough girl though and doesn't mind seeing everyone who uses forks. Xinexa still uses chopsticks when necessary though, just to be nice.
“What do you have for lunch today Xinexa?” Lexy asks.
“Veggie burger,” she replies through a mouth full of bean patty and sesame bun.
“What about you?” Xinexa asks, still chewing.
“Tofu salad,” he says, taking a bite of his food.
“Ew! Tofu!” screams Fork, covering her nose.
“I hate Tofu!”
“I know,” Lexy grins and opens his mouth, revealing his chewed-up tofu. Fork gags and covers her eyes. When Lexy swallows loudly, with a contented sigh, she opens her eyes again.
“Hey Xinexa! Whatcha eatin’ ? Trash?” a certain someone says.
“Oh hello Penelope, I’m just eating a little something from good ole’ Ozkar Mayurr,” Xinexa crones smugly.
Everyone knows how scared the pigs are of Ozkar Mayurr. The rumors is that he’ kill any pig that comes to the Smokehouse.
Penelope takes a slow step back.
“Oh? You don’t like ham sandwiches?” Xinexa says.
She could feel that maybe she was pushing it a bit, but Xinexa really doesn’t like this girl.
“W-whatever, I’m leaving. Who wants to talk to a loser like you anyways?” Penelope says, a little pale in the face.
Xinexa turns back to her food and was about to take a bite when Fork stands up quickly, knocking over her chair.
“S-sorry guys. I’ve got to go... do something,” she says, scrambling out of the cafeteria.
“Hey Lexy let’s follow her,” Xinexa whispers, nudging him.
“No way! That’s weird!” he whispers back.
“Fine, you big baby. I’ll go by myself!” she huffs.
Xinexa gets up and rushes out the door, just as Fork looks back and forth before dashing around the corner. Xinexa starts to follow when she hears Lexy’s frantic footsteps approaching,
“Wait for me!” he yells.
“Shush! Do you want her to hear us?” Xinexa whispers furiously.
They tiptoe down the hallway until they see Fork talking to some girl in a blue outfit. The girl had waist length blonde curls with blue highlights in a high ponytail. She was wearing blue shorts, blue high-tops, a white t-shirt and a tattered-looking black denim jacket. What really caught attention though, was the gun in her blue belt and the logo on her blue beanie. The logo said: Lox Baer-Hunters.
