Author's note: I edited the last chapter after I got some feedback. The changes I did were:
1) I removed the 'MC talking with the readers' style of writing. If you guys spot anything that I may have missed with regards to this style please point it out so I can rectify it.
2) I also made a few minor changes. I always wanted the personality of the MC to be someone who doesn't feel many emotions and likes to be alone. But I felt that I failed to bring that across with my writing, so I tried to bring that point across better in both the last chapter and this one.
These changes don't really affect the story in any way, the style is just a bit different now and the MC was always meant to have this type of personality, so not much has changed. Still I recommend skimming through chapter 2 once and see if the changes are to your liking or not.
Also, next chapter will feature a lot more action and 'stuff' will happen. So if anyone is thinking that nothing much has happened yet in the story, I urge you all to be just a little patient.
I am also going to add a 'suggestions and criticism' thread after this one, and I hope you guys will provide me with feedback so that I can improve.

With that the jerk finally left. I can’t believe that idiot is actually my older brother...
Damn, all these interruptions have taken away my sleep! What should I do? Hmmm… Perhaps I should go downstairs, have breakfast, and then wipe the smirk off Mark’s face when I tell him about my unique ability! Sounds good!
I got off the comfortable bed that just didn’t want to part with me... went to the bathroom, took care of my needs, washed up and made my way back to my room and found my elder sister, Chloe, sitting on top of my bed. She is 26 years old and is also my favorite person in the world. Favorite because, like me, she doesn’t feel the need to stay in constant touch, if we don’t talk with each other for 6 months it doesn’t matter at all. So basically my favorite person in the world is the one I talk to the least…
“So, Karen told me you already know about the new abilities. What do you think about them?”
“The world will fall into chaos, obviously.” I answered.
“True. My ability lets me observe things in greater detail, know yours yet?”
“Sure, I have the ability to absorb abilities from other people.”
“Nice, how do you absorb them?”
“I just have to touch them and it automatically absorbs the abilities.”
“Oh? Sounds a bit too powerful doesn’t it. How did you find out that this was your ability?”
“Ummm… I found out about how people now had abilities last night so I went to Mark’s room to wake him up and tell him all about it. As soon as I touched him my own voice told me in my mind about my ability.”
“Hmmm… fine, get dressed and we can have a chat later. Mark, me, dad and Karen have figured out our abilities. We don’t know what mom’s ability is yet. I’ll see you downstairs.”
“Alright, see ya!”
Ah, that’s why I like my elder sister. I can have mature conversations with her, no bullshit just to the point!

I decided to tell others that I just have to touch them to absorb their abilities, I can’t really tell others that I have to drink blood to absorb them and that I have already had some blood from my family members! I know this may cause problems in the future when others find out that I can’t actually absorb abilities simply by touching others, but I’ll come up with some sort of excuse later…
I was in the middle of dressing up when I realized something… My family members didn't lose their abilities! They just told me what their abilities are didn’t they! So, absorbing abilities doesn’t actually make others lose their own abilities!
This could be both a good and a bad thing, good in the sense that I won’t have to take away the abilities of people I know, and bad in the sense that I won’t be able to take away the abilities of enemies…
What am I thinking? I don’t really have any enemies, sure there are a lot of people who annoy me but they can’t exactly be called as enemies. I am also quite hungry right now... Let’s think about serious stuff like this after I have had some breakfast.
I went downstairs to find my whole family, minus my brother, sitting at the table discussing things excitedly.
“Morning.” I said.
The next hour was spent with me discussing with my family about these new abilities. I made a show of touching everyone and pretending to concentrate and ‘absorb’ their abilities.
I found out that Chloe, Karen and dad found out their abilities quite easily. Chloe just woke up and observed the room like usual, and that resulted in the mind voice telling her about her observation ability. Karen simply took a breathe when she woke up and that prompted to her mind voice telling her about her disease resistance ability. Apparently the breathe she took was riddled with things(bacteria, dust etc) that could cause diseases which is what prompted her mind voice to reveal the ability, which is weird, she was breathing while she was asleep too so shouldn’t the mind voice have revealed her ability as soon as everyone got these abilities? Is the mind voice only ‘active’ when we are awake ourselves…?
Dad discovered his ability quickly too, he woke up and got off bed, ignoring his back pain as usual and that prompted the mind voice to reveal what his ability was.
Needless to say, they were all extremely surprised by the mind voice and my dad switching on the TV to a news station made them discover what was going on. When I pretended to absorb the abilities of everyone I also told my mom what her ability was, and she simply said, “Great. Now I can’t pretend to be tired and have to continue working for much longer...”
As soon as Mark found out everyone had abilities, he immediately tried to fly and that’s how he found out his own ability. The guy is seriously obsessed with flying, even though he is 24 years old he still acts quite immaturely when it comes to anything to do with flying.
I then got up and headed off to my room. I don’t really like to stay in the company of others for long, I much prefer to be left completely alone.
I looked at myself in the mirror and saw the 21 year-old me with short dark-brown hair, dark-brown eyes and a nose a bit too big for my face staring back. The unkempt hair on my face, too big to be called a stubble and too small to be called a beard, showed how little I care for my own appearance. That being said, my cheeks and chin are starting to itch a bit and the moustache is getting a bit too big, time for a shave soon I think.
I looked away and went towards the window. The sight outside was incredible! My neighbours were all out on the street experimenting with their abilities...
There were 3 children running around a bit too quickly to be considered normal, they were practically a blur. Super speed I guess. A few houses down I saw a girl manipulating fire, and another girl manipulating water. Both sisters I think, both with opposite abilities it seems.
I also saw a number of people in the sky, about 5 altogether. Apparently flying was a somewhat common ability… But there was something that caught my eye. 3 of them were flying without anything visible, but 2 of the people had gusts of wind under their feet and they were also having much more problems controlling their flight. Going by the countless anime and novels I have seen and read, I knew that the 2 guys were manipulating wind (or air).
There were also countless other people showing off their abilities. Manipulating earth, jumping to great heights, super strength and many others. There was also a girl who could turn invisible! Though she could only turn her body invisible, so her clothes moving about without anything in them looked like something straight out of a movie.
Apart from all the people showing off their abilities, there was also a crowd watching them from the sidelines. Some with joy and amazement, but most of them had jealous looks on their faces. Seems like these people are either the ones that didn’t get flashy abilities or they haven’t figured out what their ability is yet.
The more I looked, the more abilities I saw, and the more excited I got. All these different abilities could be mine!
I yelled downstairs that I was going to go out and without bothering to wait for a reply I prepared to jump off the window. Time to get me some more abilities!
