CHAPTER 36: Hey, who's the boss around here?

----------------------------------------

I quickly caught up to the wolf that started running away. Actually, the minute I moved towards them, they all started running away. I grab the wolf by its neck, and it tried to bite my face off. "You fucking mutt! Come here!"

I pulled its tail and used it to lift up its body. I swung it around letting it go towards Suyeon and the wolf went flying for a brief moment but quickly descended down towards the ground.

     Thud!

    YELP!

The wolf yelped in pain as it bounced around until it stopped quite a distance from Suyeon. The wolf slowly tried to get up but I see it's a bit disoriented causing it to stumble back down. Suyeon is still in the spot I left her doing absolutely nothing.

"What the hell is she doi-Hey! It’s not a tv show! Go fucking kill it!" I shouted at her who just watch the wolf struggle to get up. I quickly bolt towards them as Suyeon approaches the wolf. Using her foot, she kicked it back down and the wolf yelped some more tumbling to its side.

"Break its legs!" I shouted towards her and she replied with a nod. She quickly lifted up her left foot over the leg of the wolf and stomped on it.

YELP!

The bone snapped under her boots and I hear the wolf yelp in pain as one of its legs bends the wrong way from the shin. I finally caught up to them and I see Suyeon's about to put her knee on the wolf's neck to probably try to gauge its eye out.

"Wait!" I place my hand between her and the wolf she pulled back just in time as soon as the wolf turned its head trying to bite her leg. She fell on her ass terrified that she almost got her leg chomped off.

"A-ah I-m sorry." She whispers as she looked at the wolf who yelped non-stop and every sound it makes increased my irritation.

"Tsk, it's really fucking loud and annoying," I whisper as I approach the wolf's head. Using my dagger, I stabbed the wolf mouth shut like a kebab muffling its voice and the wolf started thrashing around trying to get up.

"Break another leg," I tell her and she nods. With one swift motion, she snapped the front left leg and the wolf yelped some more as it probably felt it's bone snapping ripping its flesh as the broken end come out of its skin.

She looks up to me and asked, "S-should I break all of them?"

"Go ahead," I replied back and she gave me a quick smile before turning back down towards the wolf's remaining leg. She continued to break the other two legs and I kept my foot on the wolf's neck preventing it from moving too much.

"Ok, now is the time to kill it. We're not doing critical strike this time." I tell her and she looked a bit sad.

Did she want to pull its eyes out? I asked in my mind.

"Ah, I have an idea~," I say, and I quickly call out my dimensional bag. I took out the frying pan I used to cook the ogre queens’ meat and held it out to her. "Try to see if you can hold this. You can hold the plate and utensils; you can probably hold this also."

"But why not critical strike? W-wouldn't be faster?" She tells me.

I grabbed her hand and placed the handle of the frying pan on her palm. "Yes, but I want you to build up stamina. This way you won't tire out if you fight something that will take a while to kill."

I remember when I first fought, I get tired quickly and only after my body got used to the constant pressure of fighting non-stop, that's when I was enabled to fight without tiring myself out too fast. I wanted to test if she will get tired fast if she constantly beat the wolf non-stop.

"Ok, hurry up and beat him," I tell her and she nods while grips the frying pan. My theory is right, she can hold it normally without plummeting to the ground due to the sudden change in weight. "Ok, now use the pan and bash its head till it dies."

"W-wont it be better to use my gloves. I-I don't want to break your frying pan." She tells me.

"Don't worry, I bought new ones from the item boar shop when I was there. Use it till it breaks. Do you see those gloves of yours? That has durability also. If we keep using it on these low-level fucks, your gloves will break. I don't have any other weapon you can use."

"O-oh. Okay." She says as she walks towards the head of the wolf who stopped yelping but, as soon as it sees Suyeon it resumed while thrashing around. I kept its neck pressed down the ground preventing it from thrashing too wildly. What came next somehow brought memories I didn’t want to return. I watch her expression change as she started swinging at the wolf’s head. Her swings are getting stronger and stronger since the sound the pan makes is getting louder and louder.

Jeez, look at her go. She’s taking all her anger out on that thing. It doesn't look like she's getting tired. I say in my mind as I see her expression change multiple times in a couple of minutes.

She went from smiling to contorting her face due to anger. Then sad pity looks towards the wolf and back to having a smile plastered across her face. She displayed so many different emotions and it just made me stare at her wondering what expression will come next. I see the wolf stopped yelping and its health is getting lower and lower.

"Ok, stop," I tell her but she didn't and kept hitting the wolf. "Hey!"

My voice startled her causing her to step back. Her face was quickly replaced with a worried look as she stares at me. "I-i-I'm sorr-"

"Stop fucking apologizing every time. You didn't do anything wrong. I just want you to try something out before you kill it." I say and she nods while looking dejected.

Tsk, this girl needs to get force fed some confidence. I say in my mind. I look at the wolf and I see it's remaining health. One more hit and she would have killed it.

Lvl 5 Dire Wolf

2/300

"Do you know how to use your skill?" I asked her.

"T-the jump?" She replied to me.

"Duh, what else. That's the only skill you have." I say and I feel more irritated than before.

"I'm sorr-" She stopped mid-way as she sees me glaring at her for trying to apologize again. "I-I never used it."

"Ok, stand on top of the wolf and jump." Pointing at the wolf’s stomach.

"W-what-" She started having a crazy worried look that makes me want to smack her back to normal.

"I know it may sound stupid. But in this world, common sense is stupid. Now do it." She obediently followed and got on top of the wolf. She went jumped up but there was nothing abnormal about it. "Go check your skill window and tell me if you gained some experience points on it."

"O-ok. Jump skill description." She whispers and I see her reading something I can't see. "It's still at zero."

"Hmm. Maybe you need to say it out loud. Try screaming it while jumping." I tell her.

"O-ok." She went on a crouching position getting ready to jump one more time. As she pushed up straightening her legs, she shouted her skill. "J-jump!"

BOOM!

The wolf exploded beneath her and the ground formed a circular dent. I dazed for a moment at the remnants of the wolf scattered around and its blood splattered everywhere including on me.

Shhhhhkkkk!

The wolf started turning into dust leaving only the blood stains as the proof it was once alive.

"Hey, you fucking obliterated it! Hahaha! The damn thing is dea-" I suddenly stopped talking as I look up noticing where she was. Her skill launched her all the way to the sky at a distance no normal person can do. "Well, what do you know..."

"Ahhhhh!!!!! H-help me!" I hear her shout as she flails above me. I see her start descending down and she just kept screaming nonstop.

"Hey! Relax! Activate your skill before you hit the ground!" I shout up towards her thinking that it might be the same as my skills.

Wait; what if it doesn't break her fall, she might break both legs at that height.I say in my mind as I stare at her falling towards me.

"Tsk, Seismic step!" I shouted my skill and I jumped catching her midway. We both descend back down, and I decided to activate the chef's coat to protect my body. "Chef's coat!"

I lay on my back mid-air and hugged her towards my chest using myself as a cushion to break her fall. My skill will protect my body from this height, so I'm not worried about breaking anything.

Thud!

I felt my back hit the ground and the leaves with loose grass flew up as my impact blew everything away. I let go of her and she continued to plant her face on my chest as she cried. "Uwaaaaaa!!!"

Sigh.

"Stop crying, that fall wasn't that high in the beginning," I say as I stand up pushing her to the side and she went on all fours on the ground.

She sat on the grass and started wiping her eyes. "I-I thought I was going to die."

"You would have likely broken a bone, but die? No. You need to fall off somewhere higher. Like that time, we got stuck in the cave up that mountain. That height would kill anyone." I tell her and she just nods as she wipes the tears off her face. Thinking about the cave where we came from, I automatically look at my clothes just in case she peed again.

Whew. Safe. I say in my mind.

"Ok, get up. We don't have all day." I tell her as I turn towards where the pond is. "Tsk, they all ran away when they saw me come close."

The whole area that was once teeming with wildlife is now a dead empty meadow. I walk towards the pond to see if I can spot any wolf or boar, but they all ran towards the forest earlier and never came back.

"Well, whatever. Let's just practice your skill and level it up." I say as I turn to her.

"A-again?" she tells me. I can see she doesn't want to use it again.

"Yes again. Go check if you leveled up from killing the wolf. Check also if the skill gained some experience." I tell her and she nods. She whispered some commands and I see her studying what's probably her status window.

"Y-yeah! I leveled up to three! A-and my skill's experience went up to fifty!" She says happily.

"Look at you, Just a minute ago you were crying," I whisper as I see her happily inspect her skill. "Did you get any new skills?"

"N-no. I only have jump still." She replied looking dejected.

"Figures. When I reached level 10 that's when I was able to use swords. Ok, let's make camp and come back here tomorrow." I tell her as I walk away from the pond.

"W-wait. Would it be better to camp near this pond?" She asked me to dust off her pants.

"It would but if we're here, those mobs might not come back in this area. Let's camp somewhere further and come back tomorrow." I explained to her as I started walking towards the dead boar and she quietly followed behind me. I picked a spot in the forest near the meadow. I see the sun is starting to set, and soon enough, the horizon will engulf it. I quickly build a campfire while I told Suyeon to practice her skill. I lean at a tree and relaxed while I watch her jump over and over again.

"J-jump!" She shouted her skill and the minute she jumped, she went soaring up the sky. Even when I'm inside the forest, I can feel the gust of the wind she creates every time she jumps. She didn't put a lot of force in her jump this time not wanting to go above and beyond towards space.

"A-ah!" She screams as I see her descend while flailing her legs.

       Thud!

She fell on her ass as she lost balance midair.

"Ouch," I whisper to myself watching her. She quickly stood up and dusted off her clothes and jumped again. She did this non-stop until the sun completely set into the horizon and darkness surrounds us. I decided to make some fire while I instructed her to collect broken wood and sticks. After I got the fire going, I took out the last remaining fishes in my bag and started cooking them.

"So, you're telling me that they didn’t try to help you level up?" I asked her as I put a cooked fish on her plate.

"Mhm. W-when the door opened." She says before stuffing her face. I hand her another fish and gestured her to slow down eating. She took out water contained I gave her and took a huge gulp before continuing her story. "Kana and everyone tried helped me kill a monster. But, my brother and some people said I would just get in the way so I was left in the safe zone with Kana. I tried jumping normally but I didn't know it would activate using my voice."

"Uh-huh, didn't you see them shout their skills?" I tell her. "Clearly that would have made you think to do the same."

I see her look sad as if she did something wrong, again. "I-I-m sorry."

"Again and again one apology after the next.” I snarl at her as she started to irritate me. “Why do you keep apologizing? What happens to the girl at the beginning full of energy that made me fucking blind? You apologize so much."

"I-I-m so-" She suddenly stopped covering her mouth.

"Jeez, don't you know any other vocabulary than to apologize?" I asked her. She stayed quiet and I can see tears accumulating.

Tsk. Again with the tears. Give me a fucking break. I talked in my mind keeping my thoughts to prevent her from crying by my harsh words.

"So, why didn't you kept trying to level up?" I asked her.

"Well, they decided that it's dangerous for me to go with them in the skeleton room." She explains and stopped to take a bite of the fish.

"I wonder why you're getting experience points now..." I whispered before taking a bite of the fish on my plate.

"H-how about you? How do you level up?" She asked me.

"I need to cook. Cooking gives me experience orbs." I tell her. "Wait, where are your starting weapons?"

She didn't say anything and looked dejected. I was about to say never mind but she suddenly opened her mouth. "M-my brother took my hat a-and the shoes I got, one of the girls took it when…"

She suddenly stopped talking and I see her eyes getting teary.

"Ah, never mind. Don't explain." I tell her.

“I did kill a monster in the dungeon, but I didn’t level up.” She suddenly blurted out.

      “Huh?” I asked getting confused.

"Yeah, Lisa went with me and helped me lower a wandering skeletons health. I punched it till it turned into dust, but I didn’t get level up.” She explained making me think.

"When you killed that monster in the dungeon, you were bare handed right?" She looks up and wipes her tears away and nods.

Hmm, I think I have a general idea of why she gains experience points now.I say in my mind as I gesture her to just continue eating. The moon has reached its halfway point and the forest was replaced with silence and the occasional rustling of animals passing through the bushes. I only took a quick nap but the thought of having another nightmare because of Unum prevented me from having a deep sleep. Having another person beside me adds on to my anxiety but it's not as bad when I first saw her since now I'm able to take small naps and even have her walk behind me occasionally. Morning hits and after eating breakfast, we continued her training. The wolves and boars are back gathering around the pond. I decided to sneak in and once I got close, I pounced on another boar that wandered off away from its group. I quickly dragged him near our camp and placed him in front of Suyeon. The boar thrashed but I broke one of its legs preventing it from running away.

"Ok, let me explain something to you," I tell her and she just stood there listening.

"This boar is what I categorized as food. As you notice, anything I kill doesn't turn to dust. But for you, most monsters that show their level and health will most likely turn into dust. Same goes when you die. But, these types of monsters where they don't show any level or even their name won't evaporate. Which means, after killing this thing, it won't turn to dust, but it still will give you an experience orb until your level surpasses it to the point it will stop giving you experience. Probably this world’s system giving us a source of food. And also, you'll have to kill higher level monsters to get more experience orbs. Understand?"

She nods and she diligently paid attention as I continued explaining, "It kind of works the same for me. When my level gets too high above the monster I cook, it makes it impossible to gain experience orbs. Ok, as for the theory I have, I think I know why you gained experience orbs this time around. Take off your gauntlets."

She quickly took it off and placed it in her bag.

"Ok, do the same thing to this boar as you did yesterday," I instructed her and she swiftly gauges the boar's eyes out of its head, and she kept trying to rip it piece by piece until the boar stopped moving. As my theory, no experience orb came out. To test it out, I decided to bring another boar.

"Ok take out your gauntlets and wear it and wait for me," I say as I sneak into the meadows. I see another boar that drifted off its pack and I quickly pounce on it immobilizing it. Then I drag the boar as it kept shrieking in pain due to its legs being snapped in half.

"Ok, now kill this one," I tell her and she happily ripped the boar apart until it died. This time, an experience orb came out of the corpse and it flew into Suyeon's chest. "I knew it. You only gain experience if you use your designated weapon."

"O-ohh." I see her look at her bloody gloves with admiration.

"So this means that if your boots and gloves break, you're useless. Tsk, you're in a much worst position than I am." I tell her.

        "W-why?" She asked.

"Well, your class is legendary like mine. As of what I heard a year ago, no one has our class. Probably only us in this forsaken planet have this class. Which means it won't be necessary for people to make our weapons. When I went to the item boar shop before, they only sold swords, shield, and metal armors along with other shit but no gloves or boots for a dancer. This means the only way for you to survive is to go on dungeons hoping we find a weapon suitable for you or make your own damn weapon."

"Oh…" I see her expression become depressed.

"This is why keep track of the durability of your gloves and boots," I tell her and she nods. We trained for the whole day. I would wait for a boar to wander off and sometimes using cooked meat to bait some wolf. Once I get ahold of them, I'll drag them near our camp for Suyeon to kill. Then I'll go back out and drag some more while she would jump over and over again to level up her skills. I told her to do it barefoot so that she won't damage her boots. The day ended as quickly as it started. We killed boars up until they stopped giving her experience orbs. Then we moved to the wolves and use them to train Suyeon. After killing the wolves, she reached level 7 and the wolves stopped giving her experience orbs altogether. The night quickly came and we both retreated back at our small camp.

"Shit. This means we have to leave this place and look for an area that has a stronger monster." I say to myself. "Can you tell me more about Kana and Daikichi? How did he get wounded?"

"H-he was caught off guard by a creeping skeleton and was stabbed from the back. Kana tried to heal him but all she could do was stop the bleeding and couldn't close the wound." She explains to me as she eats the wolf meat.

"Tsk, fuck. We need to find them quickly." I tell her and somehow, she looked worried. "What?"

"N-no nothing." She tells me as she took a bite of the wolf meat. Then before I bit into my food, I hear her speak again. "W-will you l-leave me again if we find a town?"

I look up to her and I see her eyes plastered with worry.

Sigh

"I won't know until we reach another village," I tell her and I continued eating. She didn't say anything after that. The moon is back up halfway the dark sky and I sat around the campfire fiddling with it. Suyeon slept on the other side covered by a blanket that I gave her to use.

"Status Window," I whisper to see my status. "Damn, this is getting big. I have so many skills this shit is making my status window like a giant grocery list. I wonder if I have a friends window..."

I took out a pen and paper I got from the item boar shop and I wrote down all of the commands I can remember on top of my head.

"Ok, let's see, friends list?" I say trying to see if there's a command where I can add people. “Nothing. Show friends list? Add friend? Add people? Show companion? Add companion? Show add companion. Fuck!"

It seems like there isn't a way for me to add people. If I'm able to add Daikichi or Kana, I might be able to contact them. But it seems like there aren't any commands at all.

Sigh

"Dammit. Status window." I whisper as I call out my status window to inspect my level. "Damn, am I op with this level? Show dph."

I see my damage per hit still abnormally low when I have no skill activated. It's no wonder why I couldn't one hit kill the level five monsters here since my attack isn't higher than their health.

"Tsk, how can a fucking level five wolf have more health than my attack? Fucking class." I whisper as I lean back onto a log and took a quick nap. Morning quickly hits and I told Suyeon we need to look for another area. I took out the map I got from the safe keeper and inspected it. I notice that the meadow isn't listed on the map making it harder to pinpoint where we are. I climbed a tree and I notice that the trees grew in one direction while shrank at another.

      Thud!

I land on my foot as I jump down from the tree. "Ok, we're going that way. Since the forest seems to be disappearing towards that area." I tell Suyeon who just nods as she stuffs herself with food. She's been eating so much but her weight never changed. She lost all her skeletal structure and was replaced with a body most girls would envy.

Where does she store all that food? The fuck.I say in my mind, as I wonder how come she isn't gaining any weight. But then again, this world has no common sense. Even I don't gain weight.

I decided to fill our entire water container on the pond before we left. "Hmm, maybe we should kill everything in this area. We can store the meat since you eat so damn much."

As soon as I got a view of the pond from a distance, I see only a few wolf and boar left wandering around.

"Wait here, I'll kill them and after that, we'll debone their carcass and store the raw meat in your bag," I tell her and she nods smiling.

I started sneaking towards the wolf and the boar with a sword in my hand, "Seismic step. Sharpen."

I quickly pushed off the ground and my body was propelled forwards towards the remaining wolves and boar. In a quick motion, I sliced the first wolf I came across killing it in an instant. Then I quickly ran towards the next wolf killing it. I moved so quick that the animals couldn't react and most of them died without being able to retaliate. One wolf decided to save himself and went running towards the forest. As I was about to run for him, I see Suyeon suddenly kicking the wolf in the side.

"J-jump!" She shouted her skill as soon as she made contact with the wolf and it went flying into the forest crashing towards the trees.

"Damn," I whisper as I see her mercilessly sent the wolf to oblivion.

What the fuck, when did she learn that?I whisper to myself.

"Y-Yasu! I did it! Did you see that? I sent it flying!" She screams as she happily runs towards me. It seems like I stopped moving after I saw her kick that thing.

"Uh huh. Good job. Isn’t that your normal jump skill?” I asked her surprised.

"W-well. I thought about it. S-since the floor gets destroyed when I jump, maybe I can use it to kick an enemy." She says. "I was just thinking about it, but this is the first time I tried it out. And it works!"

"Uh-huh." my voice trails off towards where the wolf went towards the forest. I see some of the trees were destroyed as the wolf's body probably went through it.

Isn't that too overpowered? She's only level 7.I say in my mind.

"Ok let's collect whatever we can and get out of here," I say as I swing my sword towards the ground to remove the blood stains on it. I turn around and see everything dead.

Damn, this will take us at least half a day chopping these corpses. Right when I took the first step, the whole place started shaking almost making me lost balance.

"An earthquake?" I whisper as I stood my ground. Everything was rumbling as the whole forest shook in place.

BOOOOOOM!!!

The pond exploded as smoke covered its surroundings and I can feel the pond water rain down on both of us. As soon as the explosion happened, the earthquake stopped, as if a switch turned it off in an instant. I look at the smoke and I see a large shadow figure inside of it. As it clears, a smile slowly crept up on me as I stared at its glowing blue eyes.

"Bwahahaha! Well, what do you know? It's like a game. Kill everything and the boss appears." I say as I watch it growl at me. Its black fur stood up and jolts of electricity sparked around it. I look at its head and I see its name along with its health right above it.

(BOSS) Level 14 Elite GIANT Supreme Boar wolf

10,000 / 10,000

"Well, what do you know, that thing is a weakling," I say to myself. "Even if it's a boss, I probably can one hit kill that thing."

"W-w-what is that?!" Suyeon ask me as she looks over that's probably something frightening for her standard.

I have an idea.I say in my mind.

"That? That Suyeon is a boss monster." I say as I look at her with a smile on my face. "Well then, what are you waiting for, go kill it."
