Jacob found himself sleeping most of the time, it was the easiest way to get rid of the constant flashes but the thing that woke him was a knock at the door. He opened it to an unfamiliar face. He rubbed his eyes, nodding. "Who are you looking for?"
"You don't remember me?" A grin was given. "How convenient. I'm William." He stretched his hand out for a shake and Jacob took it, confused.
"Am I suppose to know you?"
"Why, we've been friends for four years." He laughed then walking in. He looked around, stuffing his hand in his pocket. "Unfortunately, I'm not here to reminisce. There's something we must discuss."
Jacob stared. "What is it?"
William gave a slight chuckle, thinking about it before looking up. "It's actually a who. A her. Lily to be exact."
"Lily? Why do you want to talk about her?"
"You don't recall?" He said, astonished. "I'll be brief. Lily and I, we share courtship, you see... and you got in the way of that. Try not to do it again." He tapped his shoulder, placing a folded paper in his hand. "I have to go, I'm late for a meeting."
He watched it then looked up at him. "And if I don't listen to you?"
He smirked then opened the door. "Read the note."
When he left Jacob stood in the middle of the room, he took a deep breath before unfolding it and the words that left his lips were. "Bad decisions always lead to bad consequences."
Lily walked to town, she wasn't confident about her words to Jacob. What she'd tell him when he started asking questions. Every time she walked, she could hear something rustling in the tall grass on the side of the graveled road but she had no idea what it was. She stopped and turned but she couldn't hear it anymore. She walked again and the rustling continued, so she decided to keep walking but turn her head and when she did, she spotted a brown mutt galloping like a horse, proudly through the bushes. She stopped and then it stopped.
"Come here, you little bugger." She called and it pranced out, jumping around in circles. "Well, aren't you cute?" She smirked, it filled her heart with joy just watching the animal wagging its tail and showing her tricks. She smiled once more and walked on hoping it wouldn't follow but it did. "I've lead you on." She cursed playfully. "Now I must let you follow me, oh no." She laughed as the dog got in front of her, she leaned forward, rubbing his long golden locks. "What's your name, Love? Is it Harris?" She joked but was still curious. The pup growled. "Oh, it's not?" Lily pouted. "How about Cookie?" She giggled like a little girl. The dog growled again this time jumping up on her feet. "You are Lovely but I'm afraid, you're not mine to keep." She fell back just as the dog started barking, licking the palm of her hands. Lily thought about what she said, she didn't know what made the dog so happy. "What is it? Oh wait, it's... it's Lovely!? Isn't it? Your name's Lovely?" She got up, sighing. "I'm sorry, I had a pup once. I can tell you it doesn't end well... for me at least. So I'll save you the trouble and pain, I'll let you go."
Lily got up and went on her way but Lovely followed a few feet behind, she looked like she had not eaten in weeks. Poor puppy, Lily thought, She's really strong to have survived that long. Before she knew it, Lovely followed her straight to Jacob's home. Lily closed the door behind her, taking off her coat.
"Jacob." She said, walking to the kitchen and taking out the container from her bag. She transferred it over to one of the pots lying around then proceeded to heat it up. She paid the silence no mention, she figured he was just sleeping. Lily thought it would be best to take the soup up to him after she'd finished cooling it and that's what she did but as she was going up the stairs, she heard the front door open, she gasped to see Jacob coming in.
"Uhm, Hi." She froze. "I was just~" She smiled, thinking to herself. "coming to see you, to give you this."
"It's fine." The hoarseness in his voice rose as he slipped off his boats. "What's with that pesky dog outside, is he yours by chance?"

"Her" She paused. "name is Lovely. And no, she isn't mine."
"She's fond of you~" He said then added. "Lily."
She stopped, opened mouth she stared. "You remembered?"
He chuckled. "Your name is easy to remember, just like you."
Once Jacob got seated, she gave him the bowl and spoon then sat opposite him, watching like an amazed child at a circus.
"What?" He sat up.
"I just." She sighed. "It's really great seeing you like this."
"What are you trying to say?" He smiled. "Am I ruder five years following who I am now?"
"No." She nodded. "You're actually the opposite. It's good to see you're care-free and not worrying."
"Worrying?" He scoffed. "Why in the world would I be worried?" He thought, his eyes gliding around the room then towards her.
"Not important." She looked into the bowl. "How does it taste?" She could feel a lump build in her throat.
"Why isn't it important? Does it have something to do with you?" He placed the bowl down, staring at her.
"It's not like that." She turned away.
Jacob folded his arms, leaning back and stared at the old wood boards above.
"I don't know what it is about you. When I was at the hospital, Taylor came telling me how much I loved her. but if I love her then why am I drawn to you?" He turned to her, waiting for an answer.
"I think." She paused, then sighed, "I think that's for you to figure out, Jacob."
"Well, how do you feel... about me?"
She felt the lump grew, she gazed around the room, like an insane woman.
"Well?" He said and she looked up
"I-"
The front door opened once more.
"Taylor." Lily stood up, rolling her skirt in her hand.
She shrugged. "That stupid dog bit me." She rubbed her thigh.
"It looks she did a number on you." She chuckled, walking towards the kitchen. "She must be hungry, I'll fix something up for her."
"Thank you." Taylor sat down, taking off her hat.
"I think she meant the stupid dog." Jacob grinned.
"Oh." Taylor nodded. "Is that so?" She bit her lips, sitting up. "I actually have something that'll fix you right up." She leaned in. "It's not a kiss, Jacob. I'm still sorry about that." She grinned.
"What is it now, Taylor?" He growled.
"There's a doctor who might be able to hypnotize you, he thinks the reason you don't remember is because you don't want to."
"I don't understand."
"You're traumatized, Jake. You're scared."
"Scared?" He repeated staring to the empty wall. "It's hard to put together, if something so terrible happened, I should've been dead."
"I know." Taylor snickered discreetly. "Well?" She pounced up. "What do you think?"
"Think about what?" Lily walked out, passing them and towards the door.
"Oh, it's nothing." Taylor waved her hand.
"There's a doctor who can help me get my memory back," Jacob said.
"Why in the world would you want to do that?" Lily said with a chuckle before freezing. "I" She turned to Jacob. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. I don't know what has gotten into me."
Jacob hadn't the appropriate response and Taylor well, you could imagine the smile on her face. He turned to her and asked. "Will he be available tomorrow?" He was skeptical but it seemed like Lily was hiding something, he felt her sudden disinterest in helping him was a bit sketchy.
