Chapter 46
I slowly opened my eyes. Once again I had returned to my room from my previous world.
Becket:"Damn it."
???:"Hello."
I turned my head in confusion. This voice didn't sound like Esyn.
???:"It's nice to finally meet you. I'm Ofhena."
Becket:"Ofhena? Another one of the gods."
I narrowed my eyes at her. This was the first time I've seen a god other than Esyn. I knew the name Ofhena was the god the elves worshipped, but she didn't have pointy ears. Her hair was long and blonde with green streaks that seemed to shine brighter than the rest of her hair. One of her eyes were blue while the other was green. She appeared to be about half a foot taller than me and wore a green formfitting strapless wedding dress with a sweetheart neckline.
Ofhena:"Yes, I'm a god."
Her dress looked like it would slide down at any second revealing her large chest. I couldn't tell what kind of shoes she had on since her dress went all the way to the ground.
Becket:"Haaaaaa....what do you want?"
I sighed loud enough for her to hear and leaned back against my beds headboard. Just like all the other times I had come here I was back in my old body. I died needing a hair cut so it was slightly in my eyes. Even though I was almost 50 my body and face looked around mid 30s since I always ate healthy and worked out frequently. The scars covering my chest, back, arms and legs were the only flaws on my body. I had been lucky and didn't have a single scar on my face.
Ofhena:"I've come to both give you a gift and punishment."
Becket:"Why do I need to be punished?"
Ofhena:"Because you failed to complete the quest given to you by Esyn."
I stood up.
Becket:"I was told to leave for the Vampire continent in two months. I've still got a few days till then."
Ofhena:"Actually you have one day, but that's not the quest I was talking about."
Becket:"That's the only one she gave me."
Ofhena:"You failed to conquer Aelisia."
I closed my eyes in annoyance. The memories of what I was doing before coming here just resurfaced.
*Damn. She beat me again.*
Becket:"If you wanted her and me to get together you should have brainwashed her like the others. I'm not some Casanova that can get any girl he wants. Besides I've been busy."
I was feeling a little down since Aelisia had tossed me into a tree after releasing her so I tried to defend my failure.
Ofhena:"Don't worry. I'm not nearly as mean as Esyn."
I frowned.
Becket:"Where is she by the way? Why are you the one here talking to me?"
Ofhena:"She's.......busy. I'll be the one interacting with you from now on."
My curiosity made me want to ask what she was doing, but I doubted I'd get an answer.
Ofhena:"Ok! It's punishment time!"
I slightly flinched. Esyn threatened me with brain damage so I was obviously a little worried.
Ofhena:"Done!"
Becket:"Huh? I don't feel any different."
Ofhena:"Of course not. That's not your real body."
*Oh yeah.*
She giggled.
*Oh god! What did she do!*
I was now very worried.
Becket:"W-Would you please tell me what you did?"
Ofhena:"You'll see. It's just a minor curse."
I hung my head a little.
*These damn gods and their games!*
I wasn't sure what the curse was, but it was obvious I wouldn't like it.
Ofhena:"It's a curse, but I won't tell you what it is. You'll have to figure it out."
She giggled again.
I was eager to get out of here and see what she did so I tried to hurry things along.
Becket:"Well, what about the gift?"
Ofhena:"I first need to tell you about a problem.............wit your body."
Becket:"A problem? What the hell is it now."
Ofhena:"You've hit your limit. An elf's body is too weak to continue being strengthened like you've been doing. If you keep going without fixing this you're body will give out on you."
Becket:"Damn it. So you're saying I can't get any stronger or else I'll just be killing myself?"
Ofhena:"Yes but I'm here to fix that."
She held out both of her hands. In them were two pills.
Ofhena:"Take the white pill and you'll evolve into a high elf. Take the black pill and you'll evolve into a dark elf."
The pills were a little big so swallowing them will be a pain, but it's better than being stuck at the same level of strength forever.
Becket:"What's the difference between a dark elf and a high elf?"
I had read some fantasy novels; however, that was mostly just to kill time so I wasn't sure about the distinctions between the different kind of elves.
Ofhena:"The high elf is similar to the current you. Your nature ability allows you to grow small plants and strengthen them while a high elf has complete control over the planet. At the cost of most of your mana you'll be able to grow an entire forest and mold the very land you stand on. With a single touch you can grow absolutely anything instantly. The very planet is under your control."
*So stronger plant powers and something similar to earth magic. That could be extremely powerful.*
Ofhena:"You'll also be able to control all metals and wood."
*Becoming a high elf is tempting. I wonder what a dark elf gets.*
As if hearing my thoughts she immediately began explaining the abilities of a dark elf.
Ofhena:"A dark elf loses its nature ability, but gains control over the atmosphere. They can manipulate the wind and all the elements that make it up. Anything that isn't a solid or liquid will be under your direct manipulation. The weather, air pressure and even temperature will change as you wish it."
*Atmospherical control. These elves sound way too powerful.*
Ofhena:"Your appearance will change according to which one you pick and your mana pool will expand. A high elf's strength and endurance will rise while a dark elf's strength and agility increases."
Becket:"These elves sound incredibly powerful."
Ofhena:"They are, but high elves and dark elves no longer exist."
Becket:"They don't exist? What happened?"
Ofhena:"They were the minority in the elven community, the only ones willing to fight. When the demons were being wiped out they tried to stand up to help and ended up getting killed with them. After their strength became known, they were seen as a threat and the few that didn't get involved with the war were hunted down. Now they're extinct."
Becket:"How were they beaten?"
Ofhena:"The humans had six summoned heroes with them. Those heroes were unimaginably powerful. There were originally seven, but one switched sides and was killed for it."
*The heroes. This is the second time I've heard of them.*
Ofhena closed her hands and retracted them.
Ofhena:"You can pick whichever elf you wish to become and I'll even let you keep the other pill. Make sure you don't take both. They'll definitely kill you. Even after evolving you'll still need to train. Your mana pool is considered pitifully small for a high or dark elf. Their spells require massive amounts of mana so you'll only be able to use a small portion of their power."
I held out my hands for the pills.
Ofhena:"You've already got them."
As soon as she said that I felt her hand lightly hit my chest causing me to fall backwards into my bed. I shut my eyes instinctually them reopened them.
Becket:"I'm back."
I was resting in my bed in the palace. No one else was in the room.
Becket:"How's my arm."
I pulled the blanket off me to inspect my body. Not a single scratch could be seen. I was completely healed. Suddenly I jumped up.
Becket:"The curse! What did she do!?"
I scanned my body, threw a few punches tested my magic, but couldn't find anything wrong.
Becket:"Was it a joke?"
I sighed.
*I hope it was a joke.*
I currently only had on a pair of pants. The table off to the side of the room drew my attention. On it I could see the two pills Ofhena offered me.
Becket:"High elf or dark elf."
I picked up the pills and looked at them. While I was deep in thought I remembered what Ofhena said.
Becket:"I've only got one day till I leave for the vampire continent."
There were things I needed to do so I quickly got dressed. My sword that I threw off during the fight against Aelisia was leaning on the wall next to my bed. I strapped it to my waist and pulled on my boots then the black shirt I usually wear under my armor. My cloak was the last thing I put on before leaving. When I stepped out of my room Aelisia was standing there.
This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author's work.
Aelisia:"Yo, have a nice nap?"
Becket:"The nap was fine, but the dream was a little unpleasant."
I turned away from her and began walking down the hallway. She followed after me.
Aelisia:"Something seems different. Your aura has changed."
Becket:"Hmm. How so?"
Aelisia:"There's a new color mixed in."
From what I had been taught this seemed strange. According to Aelisia auras don't change very often. In fact it's very rare.
*Does it have something to do with the curse?*
Aelisia:"Well, guess it doesn't matter. You're a strange existence to begin with."
She shrugged and gave up trying to figure out my aura. Even she doesn't know what all the colors mean exactly. Aura reading isn't her focus anyway. She's trained to effectively use her aura in combat.
Aelisia:"You've gotten a lot better, but you'd still die if you fought a Warlord to the death. I used the bare minimum of my aura magic and still won."
I sighed.
Becket:"You went easy on me?"
Aelisia:"I didn't use any special techniques so technically I did go easy."
*Damn. I wonder what level she is?*
Just imagining what level she must be frightened me. Since she didn't have access to the adventurer's guild's stat distributor, that means her stats are high without using any stat points. What kind of a monster would she become if she did distribute her stat points?
We separated at the palace gates after I told her I was heading to the adventurer's guild. I felt like people were watching me as I moved through the crowd. A few even tried to touch me, but they were way too slow.
After speaking to a receptionist Doris came out to meet me. Apparently Deris was busy. She led me back to the room I was in last time then left to retrieve the tablet. I noticed the door was already fixed. When she came back the tablet was placed in front of me on the table.
Becket:"Is there a class you recommend?"
Doris:"I'm not allowed to influence your decision."
I nodded. If they recommended a class it could come back to bite them. They wouldn't want a hero claiming they got a bad class because of the guilds recommendation. Because of the magical contract the hero wouldn't be able to tell anyone about it, but the contract doesn't stop them from using violence against the guild.
I clicked on my class and a list popped up. This list had every class that was an option for me to take. According to Doris each person has different classes that they've unlocked. Mine were as follows:
-Tamer
-Gunslinger Tamer
-Brawler Tamer
-Harem Lord
-Spy
-Outlaw
-Ranger
-Tailor
-Hero
-Demon King
-Gunslinger
-Dark Druid
-War Druid
-Druid
-Shaman
-Mana Warrior
-Magic Warrior
-Ancient War Mage
-Jack of all Trades
-Mana Adept
-Dragoon
-Foreign Mercenary
-Endless Warrior
-Wanderer
-Titan
-Jar Head
-Hunter
-Brawler
-Innermana Fighter
-Fighter
-Fist Fighter
-Battlemage
-Enhancement Shaman
-Dracomancer
-Dragoslinger
-Manly Class
-Baby Boomer
-None
Doris also told me it was possible to unlock more classes as I level up. After my conversation with Ofhena, I wanted a class to increase my mana pool. The classes didn't come with a description so I wasn't sure what they did. Mana Adept or Mana Warrior sounded like they might increase my mana pool.
Becket:"I think I'll pick Mana Adept."
When I selected it the list vanished and returned to my status screen. Hero was a tempting class choice, but I had absolutely no clue what that class would do.
Doris:"Hold out your title stone."
I removed my hand from the tablet and stuck it out toward her. She chipped a small piece off of the tablet, smaller than my pinky nail, and touched it to my title stone. It was absorbed by my title stone causing it to change color into a grey.
Doris:"Now you have access to your stats. Instead of coming here every time you need to distribute your stat points you can just do it on your title stone now."
I decided to test it.

The updated title stone showed all my info and available magics. I had already realized that this list only included magic I could activate without a spell. The magic I learned from the gods wasn't part of the list. The original Becket apparently knew healing magic, but since it requires a spell it also wouldn't be on this list.
Becket:"That bitch."
Doris flinched when I said that.
Becket:"Sorry, I wasn't talking about you."
I stood up.
Becket:"I need to go. Thank you for this."
I gestured at my title stone.
Doris:"I was just doing my job."
I smiled at her before leaving. After looking at my list of available magic, I was able to find out what the curse was. [Womanly Aura] wasn't on the list until now.
*Now I understand why people were messing with me on the way here.*
I could guess that it was probably a passive magic that charms men.
Becket:"Fuck those gods."
Since I didn't see him very much I stopped off at Gene's. Before entering I used my vampire eyes to see how many people were there and luckily Alexa wasn't.
Gene:"Becket, good to see ya."
He was cleaning the floor when I walked through the door.
Gene:"Is it just me or are you much prettier looking today."
Becket:"Shut up."
I said weakly with a sigh. He noticed the aura, but didn't seem to be drooling over me. Maybe it doesn't work on people who know I'm a man?
Becket:"I'm gonna be leaving for the vampire continent tomorrow."
Gene:"Have a nice vacation."
I pulled out a chair and sat down.
Becket:"I'll try."
I opened up my stats and looked over them again. The Mana Adept class did increase my mana pool. The rest of my stats didn't change from the last time I distributed points though. I also got a new magic called [Misdirection]. Out of boredom I tapped the skill.
[Misdirection]Allows the user to redirect opponents mana based abilities.
Becket:"So I can pull up information on my magic. Is this knew or could the title stone do this before?"
Gene looked at me as I was talking to myself.
Gene:"Talking to yourself is a bad habit."
*So is stalking a girl until she likes you.*
Becket:"I'll try to work on it."
He went back to cleaning the floor and web back to fiddling with my stats. I clicked on my title and my list of titles popped up.
Becket:"Oh thank god I can change it."
I selected the hero title I got from ranking up in the adventurer's guild.
Becket:"Mana Adept isn't quite as good as I hoped. The boost in mana is a plus."
I tapped my class and the class listed popped up again.
Becket:"N-No way! Is this a glitch?"

After all the comments I was conflicted on what class to give him. I hope this makes everyone happy. Now decide on which pill Becket should take. This time the winner of the poll really will be what I use.
