Chapter 34
We were headed back to the palace since the chimera nest was wiped out. The two of us were on a dirt trail that Gideon said was used by merchants. Our feet kicked up dust as we walked since the path had been used so much that grass no longer grew on it. The sun was high in the sky, but a cool breeze kept it from bein too hot.
I was able to test fire the rifle and found no problems with it. It was surprising how easy the rifle was to use. It's almost like this elven body was made to be a sniper. My armor absorbed the recoils force against my shoulder and my shots seemed more precise. Each time I fired the rifle I was astounded by my accuracy.
Gideon:"Becket."
Gideon suddenly called out to me while I was deep in thought.
Becket:"Yeah?"
Gideon:"What were those wings?"
*So he's curious about my fairy wings.*
Becket:"That was a type of magic."
Gideon:"Magic huh. I thought you were a swordsman?"
Becket:"I'm both."
He raised one eye brow like I just said something interesting.
Gideon:"Most people who peruse the sword do it because being a mage isn't an option. Why'd you pick both?"
Becket:"I didn't intentionally pick both. This is just how things ended up. Is it strange to be both a mage and a swordsman?"
Gideon:"They're rare. Like I said swordsman are usually weak with magic so that's not an option and mages usually devote all their time to mastering their magic. Most mages have a sense of superiority because of their power and look down on swordsman."
Becket:"Well they are kind of opposites so I can imagine there would be tension between them."
Gideon:"Thats why swordsman usually work for the kingdom while mages work for the church. You're an exception though since I've never met an elf mage that isn't a healer. Most elves refuse to become attack mages and prefer the support role."
Becket:"It's been bothering me for a while now, but could you tell me how elves have survived if they're not willing to hurt others?"
Gideon:"You're a little ignorant of the world aren't you? It's because of the monster race."
Becket:"Monster race?"
Gideon:"The monster race lives together with the elves and protects them. The elves are the only race that accepted those monsters so in return for a home they provide protection."
Becket:"What exactly are the monsters?"
Gideon:"Half human and half monster usually. Lamias, harpies, banshees, centaurs, gargoyles, mermaids and and the list goes on. Some people consider them all different races, but it's easier just to call them the monster race."
Becket:"So the elves won't raise their hand against anyone, but they're willing to let another race do their fighting for them."
Gideon didn't respond so I took it as him wanting to drop the conversation. We finally made it back to the palace without anymore talking. The two of us went to report to Aelisia who was training some new recruits according to the knights on guard at the front gate. We made it to the field and found Aelisia standing in front of a crowd of around 20 knights in leather armor.
Aelisia:"You're finally back. It took you way too long."
She didn't even turn around and kept her gaze on the new recruits. I could hear whispers among them as we approached.
Recruit Knight 1:"Hey look they're both wearing green."
Recruit Knight 2:"Yeah they must be Grandmaster Knights."
Recruit Knight 1:"And that blonde one is an elf."
Recruit Knight 2:"She's pretty hot."
I scowled at those two recruits which made them avert their eyes. Gideon stopped a few meters away from Aelisia and straightened his back.
Gideon:"We've completed the chimera nest extermination."
Gasps could be heard from the new recruits.
*Is that strange? They weren't very strong.*
Aelisia:"Gideon fall in line. Becket go see the knight captain. He has your new armor ready for you."
Gideon joined the new recruits while I left the field. I quickly found the captains work room where he was currently signing papers behind a desk. A female in a plain looking blue dress with her brown hair pulled into a bun stood beside him.
Becket:"I'm here to get my new armor."
Both of them looked at me. The captain was a large man with a head full of grey and black hair and a matching beard. He wore basic looking armor, but since it was blue I knew he must have some skill. He smiled at me.
Captain:"Becket the elf. Beatrice get Becket his armor."
Beatrice:"Yes sir."
The woman next to him walked by me and left the room. The captain continued to smile without saying anything else until Beatrice returned.
Beatrice:"Here you are Sir Becket."
She handed me a pile of silver armor along with that tight black under suit all knights wear and a plain silver sword.
Becket:"Thank you."
I turned around and was about to leave when I noticed something wrong with my armor so I spun back around to face the captain.
Becket:"This seems to be the wrong armor."
Captain:"No that's yours."
Becket:"That can't be. This armor is for a woman."
I held up the breast plate which showed two dents meant for a woman's breasts. I call them dents because this armor was meant for a small breasted woman, but even small it was still noticeable that this armor was for a woman.
Becket:"I can wear the rest of it, but this breast plate is obviously for a woman."
The captain was still smiling.
Captain:"Oh! Sorry there must have been a mix up, but you see we don't have anymore armor that fits you so until we can fix this you'll just have to wear that."
I set my armor down and walked up to his desk.
Becket:"Confirma!"
I slammed both my hands down onto his desk which exploded into a million small pieces of wood. The captain leapt up and reached for his sword. I jumped forward and placed my hand on his sword hilt preventing him from drawing it then smashed him into the wall.
Becket:"I'm starting to get real sick of this!"
One of my hands stayed on his sword to keep it in the sheath while the other held the captain against the wall by his throat. His feet were flailing around while he tried to tear my hand away from this neck. Beatrice was screaming her lungs out behind me. I brought my face in close the captains and activated my vampire eyes so that I would look more intimidating.
Becket:"If something like this happens again we'll need to have another talk."
I released him and stepped back. He fell to his knees gasping for breathe while clutching his throat. Beatrice finally stopped screaming and ran over to him. I picked up my armor and left without looking back at them.
Aelisia:"Fall in line Becket."
When I got back to the field after changing Aelisia told me to join the recruits like Gideon.
*Were they just standing here waiting for me?*
I stood next to Gideon. He looked over at me then whispered.
Gideon:"Why are you wearing armor for a woman?"
Becket:"Cause the captains a dick."
I was pissed to be wearing the armor, but I was actually more afraid of what would happen if I showed up without it. Aelisia didn't seem to even notice anything was wrong or maybe she just accepted it.
*They're all gonna think I'm some weirdo and this helmet is damn annoying!*
I decided to give up on adjusting the helmet into a more comfortable position and hung my head down a little while sighing.

Aelisia:"All of you new recruits need some experience. Lets start with some spars so that I can see who has the real talent. Gideon and Becket I want the two of you to each pick ten new recruits and form teams."
I looked around at the new recruits.
Aelisia:"Once teams have been decided you two pair each person up against someone from the other team to spar with. Now get to work team leaders."
Since she stopped talking the new recruits started rushing to who they wanted as their team leader. Most of the recruits went to Gideon, but about six came to me. When Gideon finished picking the ones he wanted the rest were given to me. The four I got from Gideon were bulky looking guys while the six I already had were all kind of skinny. One of the six was skinny because it was a girl though.
Becket:"I guess we're a team then."
I gave them a look trying to size them up. The skinny guys looked weak, but the bulky guys looked slow. The five skinny guys approached me with a funny look in their eyes.
Skinny Recruit 1:"C-Can we call you big sister."
Becket:"Huh?"
My whole body stiffened up.
Skinny Recruit 2:"Is something wrong big sister?"
I spun my head over to the recruit that just spoke.
Becket:"You'll call me team leader!"
All Recruits:"Y-Yes team leader!"
I continued to glare at the recruits who started to squirm under my gaze.
Gideon:"Are you ready yet Becket?"
Gideon walked up to me I snapped my head towards him while continuing to glare.
Becket:"Call me team leader!"
He seemed surprised and stopped walking towards me. Noticing it was Gideon I relaxed my face.
Becket:"Oh it's Gideon."
He hesitated to speak, but after a few seconds he regained his voice.
Gideon:"Are you ready to pair them up for the spars?"
Becket:"Yeah. Lets do it."
We drew a circle in the ground with a 5 meter diameter to use as the spar arena. Sadly my entire team lost except for the girl which was surprising since she tripped walking to the circle and exiting it. I had turned away since I didn't expect her to win after seeing the rest of my team lose so I didn't see the match.
Becket:"Huh? She won?"
Gideon:"Impressive. She might be really talented."
Even though she was the only one to win she kind of hid behind her fellow teammates.
Aelisia:"Well it was easy to see who has a promising future as a knight. Ok I'm done for today so all of you run a few laps around the palace. Make sure to lead them team leaders."
She turned around and left. Everyone continued to stare at her until she was out of sight.
Gideon:"Ok lets go!"
Becket:"Follow me team!"
The two teams followed their leaders as they jogged around the palace. No one was sure how many laps Aelisia wanted so we all ran until the sun started to go down.
*That should be enough.*
Our groups disbanded and I went to wash off using a well nearby. I dumped a couple buckets of water onto me. It was cold, but felt really good. That night I ate dinner in my room. I also had extra sheets and pillows prepared in case Aria stole mine. That night I slept soundly with no interruptions. When I opened my eyes the next day a person was standing over me so I jumped up, but was pushed back down onto the bed.
Aelisia:"Calm down."
Becket:"Aelisia? What are doing in here?"
This time I slowly sat up.
Aelisia:"Well I've come to talk."
Becket:"Alright."
Aelisia:"So I've been trying to think of the best way to train you and nothing was coming to mind. It would be easy if I was teaching you aura magic, but you can't use it so I have to find a different way to come up with the same results."
Becket:"Ok. So what did you come up with?"
Aelisia:"Trax!"
Becket:"Trax? What's that?"
Aelisia:"It's a poison used to torture and kill people."
Becket:"And what do you plan to do with it?"
Aelisia:"I'm gonna have you take a lot of it."
Becket:"I'm not confident that will help me."
Aelisia:"A friend of yours showed up."
She pointed over to the door so I looked.
Arnie:"Hey."
Arnie was standing there.
Becket:"What are you doing here?"
Arnie:"Gene told me I could find you here. I finished working earlier than expected on that vial you gave me."
He stepped into the room.
Aelisia:"Can you get more of whatever was in that vial?"
Becket:"Yeah. Why?"
She smiled and looked over at Arnie.
Arnie:"Well she kind of questioned me before allowing me into the palace so I told her about my experiments with that vials contents."
Arnie closed the door.
Arnie:"First I need to know if you know anything about Trax."
Becket:"I know nothing. This is the first time I've heard of it."
Arnie:"Well Trax is a poison that puts the user through unimaginable pain and slowly kills them, but it also repairs and strengthens the body while doing it. Sadly no one has ever survived though so the effects are useless."
Becket:"Ok. So why bring it up?"
Arnie:"I had an accident while experimenting with the vials content. I spilled some and it mixed with the Trax I had. Usually nothing survives contact with Trax not even other poisons or healing potions."
Aria started to roll around so Arnie lowered his voice and stepped closer.
Arnie:"I tested what had mixed by injecting it into an animal. The way the animal looked didn't change, but since it wasn't dead after being injected with Trax I got curious. I tried to dissect it while it was still alive and my blade broke against it's skin."
Arnie smiled.
Arnie:"That wasn't the end of it. When I woke up this morning I found it darting around inside of it's cage at impossible speeds. The animal is getting stronger, faster and harder to kill. I can only imagine what this would do to a person. I used all of the vials contents so I need more."
He was begging me with his eyes to give him more of what was in that vial, but after what he just told me I couldn't hand more out.
Becket:"This sounds like something that could become very dangerous. I don't think I should give you anymore."
Taking this new concoction sounded interesting, but I didn't want to take the chance of killing myself.
Aelisia:"This could be how you make up for your lack of aura magic. If your body becomes impenetrable without having to use magic you could very well become the most powerful person in all of the kingdoms."
Becket:"Why do you want me to get strong so badly?"
Aelisia:"I can't have my man weaker then me."
Becket:"Wait! When did I become your man?"
Aelisia:"Well you haven't become my man yet. You still have to become stronger then me."
Becket:"Then why me?"
I was surprised. Did she already like me before I had the chance to make a move on her?
Aelisia:"When you returned my youth I decided to do the one thing I never had time for before. I want to start a family and who better than the person that gave me a second chance to do it."
She was grinning at me then she raised her hand and slapped me on the back.
Aelisia:"Hurry up and get strong so you can give me a child."
*Why does everyone in this world want me to have kids?*
