Chapter 36
The white dragon just stood there looking toward everyone on the balcony.
Gideon:"It doesn't have wings. It's a wyvern."
Gideon whispered.
I had read a little about dragons so I knew wyverns were the lowest rank. They were more intelligent than normal beasts, but not enough to compare to a real dragon who had intelligence at least on par with humans. Besides the intelligence of a wyvern there were three other differences between a full fledged dragon. Wyverns didn't have wings, couldn't take human form and lacked the ability to use gravity magic, but instead could use an element to attack with.
Gideon:"It's white. It must be a frost wyvern."
The dragon still just looked at us. No one dared to move out of fear. It may be the weakest of the dragon kind, but they were still quite powerful.
*Isn't a dragon a little too much? Who the hell would summon one just to take out the princess?*
I wasn't too knowledgable on summoning magic, but I knew it couldn't have been easy to summon this thing. The dragon began to lean in close to us and started sniffing. Eva's legs gave out so I had to hold her close just to keep her from falling to the ground. She was trembling just from the sight of the wyvern so I told her to close her eyes.
Becket:"Is there anything we can do to keep it from destroying the palace?"
Gideon:"If it attacks only mages can protect the palace, but I don't see any of them. Where did they all go?"
We had requested a few extra mages to help guard the party today, but as I looked around they all seemed to be gone. Of that dragon attacks many people will die.
*Oh shit!*
The wyvern opened it's mouth and the air around us started to drop in temperature.
Gideon:"It's attacking! Scatter!"
Some of the personal knights accompanying the nobles scattered without worrying about their bosses while others carried two or even three people on their shoulders. I manifested my wings and was about to take off when something flashed across my mind which made me stop for a second.
An icy wind shot out of the dragons mouth and hit the balcony. Ice started to spread across it while creeping towards Eva and me.
Becket:"Bulla Clypeus!"
I poured in as much mana as I could and a giant bubble formed around me then began to expand. This was the second neutral man spell I learned. As the bubble expanded it came into contact with the ice breath, but it didn't stop. A layer of ice began to build up on the side of the bubble. I had to concentrate to keep the bubble from breaking and the longer the attack lasted the more my headache increased.
Eva:"Becket!"
Eva screamed my name as I fell to one knee. My head really felt like it was splitting open, but I endured. Finally the attack stopped so I dropped the shield.
Becket:"Ha..ha...ha."
I was taking as many breaths as I could and my headache started to dissipate. The wyvern seemed confused that its attack didn't work. I picked up Eva and leapt into the air. My wings carried me high into the sky and the wyvern kept its eyes on me on the whole time.
Aria:"Becket! What's that doing here?"
Aria suddenly appeared.
Becket:"Aria take Eva."
Since I had the wyverns attention Eva would be in danger as long as she was with me. I passed her over to Aria would surprisingly had no trouble carrying her.
Becket:"The two of you get somewhere safe!"
The wyvern was preparing another attack towards me so Aria zoomed off. Since it was so hard to use that bubble shield I decided to dodge this time. The blast went right by me as I flew to the left. This time the attack was more of a ball while last time it was like a beam. I wanted to see of the sniper could pierce it's scales, but sadly I left it in the pack in my room.
Becket:"I'm gonna enjoy your heart when this fight is over!"
I zoomed towards the wyvern while dodging the balls of ice it shot at me. My sword was already drawn and pointed towards its throat. In my world I heard once the throat was a dragons weak point so it's worth a try. The sword shattered when it hit the wyverns throat.
Becket:"Shit!"
I threw the hilt away and took some distance barely avoiding one of it's claws. Its nails appeared to be iced over creating a much sharper set of claws. The other knights began surrounding it and I could see Gideon lung toward it's back.
Wyvern:"RRRROOOAAARRR!"
The wyvern let out a roar when Gideon's sword went into its back.
*How did he get through the scales?*
Gideon leapt off its back while a layer of ice began covering over the wound. The other knights were attacking its feet while I threw fire balls into it's face. The wyvern lifted its legs then brought them down crushing several knights. Gideon continued to make small cuts on the wyvern which all iced over. Parts of the castle began to freeze as the wyverns attacks missed me.
Most of the knights had become too afraid so they shot arrows from a distance which all bounced off, but they didn't show any signs of changing tactics. Gideon was growing tired of all the jumping around to avoid it's claws and feet. That's when I noticed its tail finally moved.
Becket:"Gideon the tail!"
I tried to warn him, but I was too late. The tail sent him flying out of the city like a comet.
*This isn't good.*
Gideon's attacks were the only thing doing any real damage and now he was gone. I had only one idea so I decided to try it. I sped down towards the wyvern while tucking my arms into my sides. It opened its mouth preparing an attack and I slipped right in.
Its mouth was slimy and sticky. I could feel it was startled from suddenly having something go down it's throat. After a few seconds I was dropped into what I believed was its stomach.
Becket:"Aaaaahhhhhh!"
Immediately after coming into contact with the stomach acid it began to burn. Luckily only my left arm dipped into it and I was able to use my wings to hover over the lake of death. The bad part was that my arm literally fell off.
Becket:"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!"
I burned it to cartelize the wound and stop the bleeding.
Becket:"Shit! That god damn stomach acid!"
My left arm was completely gone from the shoulder down. When my arm dipped into the acid it splashed up so my armor was so badly damaged that it fell off me and my suit soon joined it in the stomach acid. My hair was burned, but as long as I wasn't bald I didn't care.
Becket:"God dammit! I'm gonna make this thing suffer!"
I was so angry that I was seeing red or maybe that was because I activated my vampire eyes to find its heart. The heart wasn't far from me so I tour through the walls of its organs making my way to it. The wyvern was roaring, but I just continued opening holes inside it. I stepped in front of the heart and tour out a chunk.
Becket:"Thanks for the meal!"
I swallowed the chunk whole and immediately began convulsing. My body was no longer under my control as I flailed wildly around. When I finally regained control over my body I felt my consciousness drifting. Before I passed out I managed to shove my hand into the wyverns still beating heart. The wyvern stopped moving so I assumed it died from my last ditch attack.
Darkness filled my vision as I collapsed. Eventually I woke up with a lot of aches and pains. My body hurt, but surprisingly I recovered faster than expected. I stood up on wobbly legs and checked myself over. The missing left arm was the only real wound since all the minor cuts had healed while I was passed out.
Becket:"Well at least I can try out the chimera ability now."
I found my way back to its mouth and crawled out. The knights surrounding the wyvern were surprised to see me pop out of it's mouth so they just stared at me for a few seconds. The knights soon snapped out of it and realized I was naked so one of them gave me their cloak. My right arm was fine which meant I still had my title stone so I activated it to see what the dragon gave me.

Becket:"Thick skin."
It was pretty easy to imagine what it did so I decided to see if the magic was active or passive. One of the knights gave me their dagger which I pressed against my chest, but it didn't even draw blood.
Gideon:"What happened?!"
Gideon was finally back from his trip out of the city and he came up to me.
Gideon:"Your arm is gone."
Becket:"Don't worry. I'll get a new one."
Gideon:"Huh?"
Becket:"Hey could you cut that wyverns left arm off for me?"
Gideon:"What? Why?"
Becket:"I'll show you after you do it."
Gideon looked over at the wyvern then back at me.
Gideon:"Fine."
Watching him sever the arm I was able to understand how he got through the scales. He coated his sword in his aura magic. He actually used more aura magic on the sword then he did on his own body for defense. Another thing I found out about the vampire eyes were that they could see the flow of magic. I was surprised Gideon didn't say anything about my red eyes though.
Gideon:"There."
The arm was completely severed so I walked up to it and pushed my shoulder against the severed end. This was the first time I activated limb assimilation and it hurt. It felt like each of my nerve endings began to split. The wyverns arm began to shrink and it eventually matched the size of my missing limb. It took the shape of a normal arm; however, it was covered in white scales and the finger nails were made of ice.
Gideon:"What did you do?"
Gideon had a look of amazement on his face. I bent each of my new fingers and twisted my arm around to see if there were any problems, but there weren't any. The white scales covered my left shoulder stopping at the neck and encroached on my chest. My hair was burned weirdly so I knew I needed a hair cut, but at least patches weren't burnt out.
Becket:"I guess losing an arm was worth it. I made a nice trade."
I felt another difference with my body that was probably thanks to the wyverns heart. Even though I had just been in a battle I felt refreshed. It was like all the energy I wasted fighting the wyvern was returned to me and more. My stamina must have increased to abnormal levels.
I looked around at the knights that survived. It was a short battle, but the fatigue was obvious on their faces. Gideon was still staring at me as if everything would eventually make sense to him as long as he didn't look away. I looked at the ice finger nails on my new left hand and tried to focus. They suddenly grew in length and created a set of ice claws similar to the ones that the wyvern had.
Becket:"It worked."
Somehow I new it would. It was like a feeling that if I tried it would happen. Maybe that was a part of the chimera ability. The reason why it's unlikely to find two chimeras that look alike is because they grow stronger by stealing the limbs of other creatures. If they attached a limb and couldn't figure out how to use it they could die so their ability probably came with a natural ability to understand the use of new limbs. I looked over at Gideon now ready to get to work.
Becket:"Gideon we need to question all of the mages that were suppose to be guarding the ball."
He still wanted me to explain how I took the wyverns arm, but he knew that wasn't important right now.
Gideon:"You're right. They all suddenly disappeared right before the wyvern attacked."
Since Gideon was the highest ranking knight around right now obviously he was in charge.
Gideon:"Alright everyone listen up!"
Gideon decided to address all of the knights.
Gideon:"Today we have suffered great losses! The enemy is unknown for now so avoid injuring anyone you may suspect until they are proven guilty! For now we need to split up! Half of you go with Becket to protect the surviving nobles along with the royal family while the other half follows me to the three gods church."
Most of the knights seemed to want revenge so I was left with the lower ranked ones that were still inexperienced. Sadly the group I had been team leader for came with me.
Skinny Guy:"Team leader why didn't you tell us you were a boy!"
The same one that called me big sister ran up to me with a red face. Besides the cloak I had on I was mostly still naked.
Becket:"Didn't I?"
Skinny Guy:"No! You never said anything about it!"
Becket:"Well I did start wearing male armor."
Skinny Guy:"We all thought that was because you wanted to show everyone you were just as good as the male knights!"
Becket:"It doesn't matter now. We have a job to do so lets get to it."
My body felt better than even, but there was still one problem. Everything in view had a lag to it. At first I thought my vision was still adjusting from the changes, but now I realized what it was. The world appeared to move slower than before. The amount of information taken in by my eyes seems to have increased while the time spent processing that information has decreased.
Becket:"So my reaction time should increase."
Some people would be happy since they could react to threats faster than others, but this lag was damn annoying. The guest from the ball took refuge in all different directions which I could tell by searching for heart beats using my vampire eyes. I sent the knights to round them all up in the ball room. It had the most space so we didn't really have any other choices unless we regrouped outside.
Eva & Aria:"Becket!"
Two girls entered the ballroom and tackled me to the ground. Honestly I could have stayed on my feet, but I'm sure they would feel like they ran into a pole at full speed.
Aria:"Your arm!"
Eva:"What happened!"
The two of them were so close to my face that I could feel their breath.
Becket:"I lost my arm while fighting the wyvern so I took its arm as a replacement."
Aria:"So you beat the wyvern! That's amazing!"
Eva:"Wait! You took it's arm?"
Even though I hadn't told Aria about the chimeras ability she easily accepted the fact that I took the wyverns arm. Eva on the other hand wanted an explanation.
Becket:"I can assimilate body parts so I took it's arm."
Eva:"What kind of ability is that? I've never heard of anything like it."
Becket:"It's similar to how a chimera can attach limbs from different creatures."
Eva:"That's an incredible ability!"
I couldn't help but feel a little proud of myself even though it's thanks to Aria that I have this ability. While waiting in the ballroom for Gideon and the rest of the knights to return, I got a change of clothes since the cloak was a little breezy. There weren't really many choices so I put on the tight black outfit I usually wear under my armor. It was spared from my bath in stomach acid earlier since I wore a suit under my armor instead.
Since we had nothing else to do I had one of the maids trim my hair. I had gotten use to having long hair, but it felt really nice to have it short. I wanted to cut it a little shorter than I did; however, Eva liked my hair long so she had the maid keep as much length as possible. Luckily it was short enough not to get in my eyes.
