You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day, and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting, and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.” – Bob Marley

I smiled with cheerful glee as Aiden cursed me up and down before tossing his controller on the floor in disgust at his loss once again he had won a few rounds I had won the majority of them of course.
“Alright I’m done” Aiden declared, picking up his glass he drained the last of his wine. Getting up, I went to get my phone off the coffee table. I had a message from Jane. I smiled and texted her back that I loved her as well and missed her too. He was looking forward to picking her up tomorrow. Maybe he should take her to see a movie or out to dinner, maybe both.

“Thank you for letting me come by. This was a pretty good evening” Aiden said, filling his glass back up and then mine before handing it to me.
“You’re welcome “ I told him, taking a long sip and wishing it was Jane’s blood she hadn’t been gone long, and I was already missing her.
“So Jane’s friend Mimi” Aiden started and paused, looking unsure, which was surprising he always came off as confident and full of words to see him look so… human was interesting.
“ Yes” he prodded when he continued to stay silent, swirling his wine around in his glass.
“She was quite lovely” he finally said. His voice was filled with reverence as he spoke of her, his eyes sparkling with admiration. He painted her in glowing terms, highlighting her intelligence, beauty, and kindness as he told him of their conversation at the bar as they got to know one another.
“ I barely know her “He sounded bewildered by the depth of his feelings for her, considering how little time they had spent together. It was as if a spark had ignited within him. He patted him on the back, a knowing smile on his face.
“When you know, you know,” he said, his voice filled with understanding. He, too, knew how it felt, having found the love of his existence.
He nudged him playfully, “Come on, let’s play another game. We’ve got a long night ahead of us. You choose this time.”
Aiden nodded, a thoughtful expression on his face as he decided on a game to play.
