An hour later Mimi and I we’re all nice and clean and in our pajamas Mimi had on a purple t-shirt and matching purple plaid pants her hair in one long braid down her back, I brought one of Antonio’s orange t-shirts with me to sleep in it was so Ling I didn’t bother with pants I did wear my blue fuzzy socks I plopped down on the couch next to Mimi I grabbed an Oreo broke it apart and licked the icing mmm so go good Mimi grabbed one and followed suit.

“So what should we do with the rest or our night”? I asked reaching for another cookie. Mimi tapped her chin thoughtfully for a moment before answering .

“Vampire diaries marathon?” she asked I had to hold back my laugh it was always so funny to see vampire or read a supernatural novel when you knew it was all real but I still was a fan of some of the movies, shows and books and vampire diaries was at the top of my list of a favorites I was definitely team Damon and Elijah.

“I’m down” I hopped up “were going to need more snacks especially after I smoke” I grabbed my small travel case with my joints.

“Were going to need food let’s order before everything closes” Mimi pulled her phone out and began scrolling.

“How about Philly cheesecake steaks, and onion rings?” She asked I nodded empathetically that sounded absolutely delicious.

“Yes that’s perfect” I assured her nodding she began to order

“I’m going to step out so I can smoke” I told her heading for the door she held up a hand for me to wait I paused she finished typing and put her phone down.

“I’ll join you I’m on a mini vacation from work and kid free I must milk this moment for all it’s worth” she said taking a joint from me and the lighter I followed her outside we sat on the porch swing we kicked gently making us sway back and forth it was starting to cool down it wasn’t freezing but there a slight nip in the air Mimi lit the joint hit it twice before passing it to me I took a hit and stated out into the night thoughts swirling in my head.

“I wanted to know about Evelyn’s dad neither of you ever talk about him” she paused with the joint a stillness seemed to settle over her she looked down for a moment before she spoke.

“He’s in jail for….Raping me when I was nineteen” it felt like the floor opened up and swallowed me I felt light headed and cold all over all of a sudden.

“Jane are you okay?” Mimi asked scooting closer to me concern on her face and I wanted to weep she was asking me If I was okay as if she hadn’t just told something some dark and heavy not a moment ago.

“I should be asking you that” I murmured without a second thought I pulled her into a hug after a moment we both sat back I didn’t know what to say or if I should she dropped a huge emotional bomb so casually but I could feel her torrent of emotions sadness, anger, and the love she felt when she around her daughter. She got up and went into the kitchen for a moment and came back with big slices of chocolate cake she handed me a plate.

“Come on let’s go sit on the porch” she said getting up I followed behind her opening the door we went out and sat on the porch swing she spread a blanket on top of our laps we sat in silence and ate our cake enjoying the sweet goodness.

“I’m sorry you bad to go through something so awful” I finally said even those words didn’t feel adequate enough.

“Thank you chica despite the awful circumstances I got my Evelyn “ I thought of her sweet beautiful daughter who came from an awful situation but like Mimi glad she was here it made my brain feel like it was on a seesaw something good came from something bad Mimi took the last bite of her cake and signed happily.

“That cake was so good” I nodded in agreement my gaze shifted to a figure standing at the end of the block I couldn’t make them out in the darkness an unease spread through me.

“Come on let’s go In and have some more” getting up I urged her in the house first before I followed behind her I shut the door and locked it up once she was in the kitchen I pressed my palm to the door frame closing my eyes I let my energy build up my palms turned blue closing my eyes I released the energy letting it flow from me into and around the house I murmured a few words of protection that would protect them from anyone with ill intentions or who wished them harm. When I was done I went and sat down feeling a little lightheaded I hadn’t used my magic since my mom had been alive when she taught me I chugged my bottle or water Mimi walked back in with the cake but this time she just brought one plate with a slice for us to share. We dug in as we watched vampire diaries and chatted about Elena’s love triangle with Stefan and Damon when the doorbell rang we both jumped then turned to look at each and we both burst out laughing.

“I forgot all about the food we ordered” I laughed holding my stomach Mimi laughed as she got up.

“Me too” she headed for the door I got up to follow it was Kate at night and I thought of the dark figure I’d seen outside better safe than sorry.

She checked the peephole before she unlocked and opened the door a cute girl with caramel colored skin and auburn hair and brown eyes stood on the porch she held a bag up.

“here you go have a good night” she handed Mimi the bag

“Thank you” she took the bag and gave her a tip the girl smiled brightly at the amount.

“Thank you so much” she said she was sweet I thought of her out here delivering food so late at night.

“wait right here” I told her going back in the house I grabbed some money out my purse the money was just so I could touch her I was going to do for her what I did for Mimi’s home I gathered my power I didn’t need as much since I was just doing it on a person and not a huge house when I got back outside I handed the money out to her when she reached for it I took her hand in my mines .

“Thank you so much, be safe out here okay?” I said as I held her hand to distract her she nodded empathetically.

“Of course Thank you both for being so generous” I could feel she was genuinely touched by our generosity I held on for a few more seconds there done I released her hand and the money with it, She blinked a few times and then looked at her hand after a moment she smiled and with a finale wave she headed to her care we waited on the porch to make sure she got in safely before we headed back Inside we sat back down on the couch and dug into our food.

“ay dios mío” Mimi said after she had taken a bite I took a bite mmm she was right this was so good oh my god. We sat in comfortable silence as we enjoyed our food and watched our show we both ate half our sandwiches before Mimi spoke again.

“How are things going with Antonio, if you don’t mind my asking” I put my sandwich down and wiped my hands.

“Not at all” I assured her especially after she dropped such a huge emotional bomb on me earlier this simple question paled in comparison.

“Were doing good it’s been really nice since he’s been back” I wonder what he was doing right now I might text him.

“That’s good I’m glad to hear that and it’s all working out, just make sure you make him earn his place back in your bed if you get my drift” I laughed

“I get your drift” I twirled a lock of my hair before I told her this next part

“Actually he and I have never had sex” I admitted her eyes widened

“I admit I’m surprised but there’s nothing wrong with that at all, so you’ve never had sex?” she asked I froze my mind went blank Mimi met my gaze her eyes seemed to bore into to the very soul she took my hand in hers.

“Let’s go to bed” she stood up and pulled me along with her “In the morning I’m making waffles” I couldn’t help but laugh at the reference from the movie Shrek.

“sounds good” we both brushed our teeth and washed our faces before we climbed into her king sized bed that just the right amount of soft and firm I sighed contently I took my phone off the night stand and sent a quick text to Antonio before I laid down.

“Good night Mimi” I murmured she gave my hand a quick squeeze

“Buenas noches niña” I closed my eyes and thought of Antonio and hoped I dreamt of him.
