Beast World #44: The Ones Returning

Gharna, Yenna, Azhul and Oinna's journey, has been nothing if not mundane. Their journey to Road's Turn was rather usual, with the standard watch during the night and the vigilant eye keeping during the day for anything dangerous.

Hells, the sale of those peelers was more exciting, mainly because of the sparkle in the eyes of some of the buyers. Like Michael asked them, they sold part of them along the way and gauged the price of the most simple and common of folks. Farmers, hunters and plain travelers they passed by have found the device as certainly useful and the usual pricing was of about 5 silver pieces, nothing to sneeze at.

At Road's Turn they even managed to squeeze out of some people a fair 7 silver pieces on a few of them, never selling more than one to separate groups of people, to avoid making themselves too well known by making their little tool the talk of the town, but things like that are bound to happen regardless.

To their surprise, not even after two days from selling a few pieces they heard word that someone registered a new invention at the Creationist's Hall and a day later copies of their small invention were being sold at a mark up from a dedicated stall.

The four had to leave after acquiring the required supplies for forging along with other things, but their leave didn't make their frustration die down even slightly.

"Those bastards!" Growled Azhul with a frothing fervor akin to her mother's.

"Sigh... no point in getting angry now. I was expecting some people to notice something new arising about the markets, but I didn't think anyone would inquire with the Hall if the invention has a Creatonist's Patent this fast." Gharna said with a snort.

"S-so they just claimed it? Isn't it illegal if it isn't thine own invention?" Oinna inquired with a huff of passive frustration.

"Aye, but there is a catch. If ya claim it as your own, tis rather hard to disprove it. Only heard o' a couple times when someone made somethin' and it got disproved as a false claim or a copy too close to another thing made. We could've went and said tis a fake claim, but it would be our word against some merchant's who might 'ave more sway. Best we discuss with de others." Gharna added, resigned at the moment to leave the situation as is.

Yenna who walked at an excited trotting pace seemed in a better mood than the others. "I ain't much excited about the whole situation, but I managed to sell some o' the older wood sculptures I made, so I'm feelin' good about havin' some coins I could spend on some new tools."

Azhul who tried to calm down, as she has been fuming the past few days on the way back, looked over to Gharna's little blood brother and snorted curious. "How come ye didn't try tha sell any o' them figurines ya made that look like Michael's kind?"

"Oh! Those are rather rough and his magic artifact that showed drawings... it confused me rather than help at times. I saw realistic drawings of him and his family and those helped get a better understandin' of how hoomans look, but I also saw art o' hoomie artists of their kind... they really like to... exagerate their features." Yenna said with an embarrased snort.

"How do you mean?" Oinna asked curious from the back.

Yenna took a moment to gather himself as he heard the posed question. "They uhm... really like tha exagerate... de breast o' their women or... their butts. Well... they also like to exaggerate features of their men, Michael's library was... rather extensive on artistic references." The younger boy said nearly choking on a squeal of embarrasment.

Nearly syncronious the other three took a moment to look at their own chests as they walked. This motion was then followed by both Azhul and Azhul to look back at Oinna.

"Aye... she'd be popular with 'em..." Grumbled Azhul with half a mouth open.

"Me?!" She squealed in an embarrased surprise.

"Sigh... I agree. I'd be a close second tho'! And aye, Oinna, you! It seem they like women with piglet bearin' hips an' that can sustain a large farrow o' piglets." Gharna said trying to give herself a consolation prize, while inducing as much embarrasment as possible onto Oinna, which worked on her shy nature. The tuskir woman then looked at her blood brother. "Curious tho'... he said why his kind is obsessed with that?"

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

"Well... I wouldn' say obsessed... he be callin' it... 'mainstream'? I didn' understand him completely. He said that it differs from person to person, but a lot o' hoomies are attracted to that. Although his tastes seem tha vary too from his kin's usual."

"Oh?" Gharna said with curious huff at which both Azhul and Oinna seemed to also pay closer attention. "Do tell, brother." She continued, a glint in her eye.

Realizing his mistake Yenna swallowed drily as he let a few nervous oinks out. "Heh... hah... ehm... tis not my place tha share..." He added as he tried pacing ahead.

"Oh, but it is. For yer sister's sake ya kno'?" Azhul added as she inched closer as well. "Maybe she has been lov' struck by him. How couldn't ya tell her, what he likes?"

"Y-yeah. If I was Gharna, I'd like tha know, too." Oinna added with a squeaked squeal from behind as she caught up with the rest.

"Bah! What wait n-no..." Gharna said with a denying squeal of sheer embarrasment, while noticing the other two's gazes and getting their plan just from sharing a few glances. She stared back and sighed in annoyance. "A-aye... ya wouldn' tell yer own sister how..." she seemed to choke up on the words as she oinked flustered. "... how tha please a man she m-might like? Shame on you as a blood brother!"

Yenna huffed long in frustration. "He made me promise too. I 'ave an oath to him! The men of his kind put their brotherly bonds before women! Brothers before women." He squealed exasperated.

"Aha! Well yer me BLOOD Brother, we's BLOOD siblings, our promise as family is bigger an' ye got a brotherly bond tha ME!" Gharna immediately shot back.

Yenna squealed low in a groan sounding noise as he huffed and sighed. "F-fine. B-but ya didn' hear it from me." After a moment of hesitation the young tuskir sang like a cannary or in his case... oinked like a pig. "When I asked him what he prefers he said he... liked more mature women, least by a few years older than him an' he said he likes em... how'd he call it? I understood it as sturdy? He likes mature women that are sturdy, aye."

"Sturdy? What? Like a wooden house?" Oinna asked confused.

Yenna shook his head. "Nay, nay. He showed me art of a fictional character as an example. It was some sort of battle priestess, wieldin' a metal idol in de shape of a ball as a weapon that summoned astral tentacles tha fight alongside her. She was sturdy in his words. Well... huh... kind of makes sense... the woman did seem muscular." The young boy said thinking on it once more.

At this time, almost like before, Gharna and Oinna stared up at the same time at Azhul who seemed to have grown silent. After the void like silence swallowed the group for a few moments, it was intrerupted by Gharna's oinking laughter.

She stopped in place as she began squealing and snorting, trying to catch her breath. "Aye, yup. S-seem... pfft... like I lose dis one, too."

Oinna trying to muffled her small squeaked snickering with her palm. "A-aye... hah... she'd win dis one."

Azhul rubbed the bridge of her snout as she let out a huff. "Dis ain't funny..." she groaned in embarrasment as she then looked over to Yenna. "H-how old was Michael?" She asked Yenna with a suddenly sterner tone, as if trying to hold herself back from breaking something.

"Uh... twenty two? Yeah, think he said twenty two or so..." Yenna added, his lips loosened by the hole boring gaze of Azhul.

The biggest Tuskir of the group crumbled to her knees as she squealed in a defeat of embarrasment. "I'm... twenty six..." she said with a cough sounding like she took a mortal wound, while her hunt sisters hollered louder, Oinna at least trying to restrain herself and pat Azhul on the back.

Yenna looked at the three and he let out a snort of slight irritation. "Is da concept o' bein' with Michael funny, dreadful o' both? I don' get yer amusement. Sister, you lied about bein' interested in him, didn't ya? What's so bad about 'im anyways?"

The other three seemed to pause a moment. Gharna took a moment to calm down, her ears slightly flopping flat. "Well... we's just teasin' one another. Tis a girl thing. Dun' think I considered it seriously tho'. Would he even be able tha sire offspring?" She questioned nobody in particular.

"Uhm... we didn' mean tha sound rude, it is complicated to explain, Yenna. But... hmm... honestly? I'm more curious about him from a research point of view. He does seem nice and he let me examine him at me heart's content... huh... there's nobody else like him, researching him would be fun even if he's not m-my usual type of man he is kind an' nice... usually. Huh..." Oinna said almost sounding like she was about to convince herself.

"Oh... I don' think I'll ever understand ye proper... sigh... I take solace that from Michael's words that his kin's men an' women also seem to struggle understandin' one another so I don' feel alone in that." Yenna said with a sigh.

Azhul was still on her knees until her head shot up with realization. "W-we gotta rush home." She said getting to her feet and nudging everybody to move as she broke into a lightly urgent pace.

"Ey! What's wrong?" Gharna asked as she followed Azhul matching her speed, the other two following confused.

"I j-just realized somethin' an' I'm hopin' to be wrong..." Azhul added flustered as she seemed to nearly border on running.

"What?! Ya smelled somethin'? We in danger?" Gharna added clearly on the border of panic.

"Nay! Worse! Me mother's a sturdy, mature woman!" Azhul squealed loudly to the skies as she broke into a run, Gharna, Yenna and Oinna, trying to follow up in the cloud of dust left by her solo stampede.
