It wouldn't budge. As I looked at Emma and Colt I realized that we had just entered a death trap. With the door being closed and the apparent bloated guard in the courtyard it seemed that we were lead here, and that meant we had to do something about the guard. Emma looked flustered she made her way towards me and pushed me aside.
"What do you mean it won't open, move"
It looked like Colt already accepted the fact of what I said and instead worried more about the guard that was on the opposite end. Once Emma tried to pull the door open she saw that I wasn't lying. I nudged Colt to get his attention.
"What now?"
He stared blankly at the Guard for a few seconds, then he spoke.
"What else, we gotta hunt it"
Although obvious he was right it seemed that we were led here to do that, and we wouldn't be able to get out until we did.
"Okay but how, he looks even larger than the one outside, and if he's the same then he wont die unless we get its head."
He looked around the surroundings, maybe coming up with a plan then he responded.
"You remember what you did outside? Let's do that, I'll distract it with Emma and you sneak up from the back and cut the back of his knee"
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
It wasn't a good plan but I didn't have one at all, I nodded in agreement with him, and Emma listening agreed as well. I tightly grasped onto the knife I had, I would have to take an even bigger risk here, if I failed at my task we had a chance of all dying. I was nervous, even though I had already experienced the guard on the outside, the one here gave off a more nerve-racking aura one that made it seem like you would die from the slightest confrontation with it.
Finally, after Emma and Colt finished planning how they were going to distract the guard, they gave me the go-ahead. The plan was that I would stay close to the walls and slowly make my way around and get behind it while Emma and Colt got its attention. As I made my way whilst hugging the wall I looked at Emma and Colt approach the guard, they slowly made their way to it making sure not to alert them through sound, we had concluded that they reacted based on sound from long distances and had poor eyesight based on what we experienced outside. Once I was halfway to making it around, Colt had reached the guard, it was facing away from him, and then in a swift lunge, he pierced its left leg. Swoosh. Just as fast as he pulled out the spear the guard swung around with his hammer, only barely missing Colt's face. Although it missed him it was able to knock his weapon from his hands.
With the time he bought, I was able to sneak up behind it, I slowly approached its back making sure I didn't make any noise to take his attention away from Colt and Emma, it looked like Colt did some damage to it, from the leg it was hurt it looked like it was limping while it was looking for them. Finally, I was in a distance where I could hurt it, I tightened my grasp on the knife and readied myself, then in a swift move forward I plunged the knife in. It pierced through I quickly went to pull it out. Its stuck. The knife wasn't pulling out it was too late I had to let go of it. Swoosh. Just as fast as I let go the guard swung back at me, I wasn't able to react its hammer hit the side of my arm and bashed it into my ribs. The impact had pushed me aside to the wall next to me.
I looked down at my arm the impact had broken my arm to the point where my bone was sticking out, it looked like a snapped branch poking out. My vision was blurring, although I was able to see the damage I took from the hit the pain was not processing. I looked up to see what was happening, it seemed that Emma had taken the attention of the guard after it hit me, I looked next to her Colt had picked up the spear that he dropped earlier. He was saying something, I couldn't hear, it was just ringing. My vision kept getting blurry, and then in one of my blinks everything turned dark.
