I turned around and started running, I could tell just from looking at this thing that it wasn't something that I could handle. I needed to make it to the town in the distance. I could hear from the back people screaming and others running as well, but I wasn't going to turn around. There reached a point in the road in which the floor was filled with mud and roots in the ground, I could hear people slipping but I just kept running, I didn't wanna die. Crash. I turned to my side, the girl who had been running with me from the start fell down. I slowed down and looked back at her. She stared at me with her red eyes, from the back I could see the creature catching up, bodies left behind it, probably from the ones who didn't run. She stared at me.

"Get up!"

Why wasn't she getting up? That thing was right behind use why was she taking so long.

"I...I can't"

Now quivering she spoke with fear. I didn't understand why she couldn't. I looked at her in the floor, her foot had been caught in a root that was on the ground. If that was all it would've been fine, she could just pull her leg back, but it wasn't just that. Her foot was bent back as if she were standing on her toes. Damnit. Was I going to leave her here? I mean I didn't know her, I could just continue running and I would be able to reach the town. I looked back to the towns direction, everyone else was already running towards it. As I was watching them run I heard someone shout from the direction of the creature.

"HEY!"

I looked back it looked like someone else had been still running away from the monster. He looked like he was gliding along with every step, I looked at his feet, There's sparks. Once he saw that I heard and took notice of him, a smile started forming on his face. He came to a stop and turned towards the monster, He was only 10 or so feet away from us not too far, then something felt different in the air, I looked at him, his arms started glowing red like he had a light in them. Then just as the monster was about to reach him his whole body started to light up, he ran towards it as well. He jumped upwards and was about to crash into it, then he slammed down his hands right on top of the monsters head. The second it his its head static started enveloping it, the monster fell to the floor flailing around. The guy started running to us again. As he was running he shouted again.

"Don't just stand there, do something too!"

In my fear of this appearance of the monster I failed to remember that everyone here had awakened something in themselves, that was the entire reason we were here in the first place, because we had something that us different from our groups. I looked at all the dead bodies in the distance. Would it have been different if we just fought? It all just seemed funny, everyone had already left us behind and here in-front of me was someone who seemed to not be afraid of this thing. I let out a laugh, this was how it was going to be from now on, was I just going to keep running from things? What was the point of getting another chance if I was just going to spend it in fear of the unknown. I started running, but this time not away I ran towards the guy in-front of me, to the monster that was getting up. As I started running I could see the guy in front of me laughing.

"Haha, guess you're just like me"
