"Sir, your cell phone is ringing." Alex was so immersed in his thoughts he didn't realise his was ringing. The Voice of the young waitress quickly brought him back to reality.

"Hello."

"Can you come back to the agency? It's urgent." Darren hurriedly said on the other side of the phone.

"What's so urgent?" Alex yawned. He was really sleepy.

"It's about Mr Victor's murder case. I can't explain everything on the call, just come already."

"Ok, ok. I am coming." Alex hung up the call. His coffee was already cold but he drank it anyway and headed towards the agency.

"It's already fifteen minutes since you call him. Chief is coming or not?" Lucy asked Darren while nervously spinning the pen in her right hand.

"Chief is here," Izaya informed everyone.

"What's the matter?" Alex asked Darren after occupying his usual spot.

"You remember Mr Victor's murder case?"

"Chairman of the pharmaceutical companies? What about him?"

"They found some kind of poison in his body."

"Poison?"

"Yes. Same kind of poison we found in the bodies of ginn and Mary."

"So you are telling me it's also the doing of "Shadows"?"

"Supposedly, yes."

"Great." Alex massaged his temple. His headache got worse after hearing what Alex said.

"Matt. Izaya pulled at Matt's sleeve.

"Shadows is an assassination organisation," Matt explained patiently.

"Oh!" Izaya was surprised at his own reaction. Why wasn't he scared after hearing something like an assassination organisation?"

"What do you plan to do now?" Darren asked Alex.

Alex quickly hid the pained expression on his face and began to give instructions. " There are three members in this organization. Zach, Emily and Finn. Jess will monitor their every move. Where they are going, what they are doing and if possible who their next target will be."

"Got it."

"Matt you will go with Jess."

"Ok, Chief."

"All three members of Shadows are extremely dangerous and what's more I think they have joined hands with some other organisations too. It's the third case of this month and they are not trying to hide it. In the past, they have always been low key. It's not their style to attract so much attention. Darren, you will investigate this matter. See if they are working with someone else."

"Underwood."

"Cheif," Lucy called Alex when he finished speaking. "I can go with Darren." After hesitating for a while she finally said it.

"Are you sure? You don't have to push yourself."

"Yes. I am sure. After all, I know them better than anyone else." Lucy laughed softly. There was an indescribable expression on her face. It was hard to say whether she was sad, afraid or just angry.

"Ok. That's all for now." Alex was about to leave when he heard Izaya calling him and he sat back in his chair again.

"Chief, what about my locket?" Izaya asked while cracking his fingers.

"Oh yes, I was gonna tell you that you have to be patient. It might take some time. The one who stole your locket..."

"You found out who stole my locket?" Izaya cut in excitedly.

"Won't give it back so easily." Alex calmly completed his sentence.

"But Chief my mother is already on her death bed. If we don't hurry she will die before we could get the locket."

"Look boy, I understand the situation you are in right now. But things are more messed up than you think." Alex empathized with Izaya but he really was helpless in this regard. He couldn't just go and snatch the locket back from Enzo.

Izaya had no choice but to trust Alex. He didn't know what was going on but if Alex was saying things are messed up then things must be more complicated than he thought.

"Matt, take Izaya with you too," Alex said to Matt and stood up from his chair hoping no one would call him from behind again.

"Why?" Matt and Izaya were both startled by this order.

"He should gain some experience. In his current state, he can't face his enemies."

"My enemies?" Izaya looked at Alex's retreating figure and wondered about what Alex just said.
