Why Dracula?

Chapter 1: Awakening.

P4 Why Dracula?

There I stood face to face with the man I once called my brother and sought the answer to his betrayal.

“You look exactly as I remember, you haven't aged one bit Lord Cassius,” he said holding his wine glass.

I was holding back significantly to not attack him, my rage at that point was boiling hotter than the sun.

“You know why I came here,” I said, cutting straight to the chase.

*sigh* he sighed in boredom.

“You were never much of a talker, always getting to the point that is a boring trait to have,” he said resting his face on his palm.

“I’m not here for your entertainment Draculos. Now you will explain this: Why did you betray me 5000 years ago?” I asked the questions and made sure that I was getting the answer.

Draculos went silent for a few seconds.

*sigh* He was taking a deep breath.

“Where do I begin?” He asked himself.

“Your power during the war was beyond anyone's expectations, you protected Vampires from injustices and harm but that also included punishing nobles who took advantage of the lower class,” He explained.

The term ‘noble’ refers to families who had gained a high status, influence and wealth through superior power. I indeed punished noble families if they stepped over the line and took advantage of the lower class.

“When I realised that the noble families became increasingly frustrated with you I saw the opportunity to claim your position and gain the status I was long after, that's right I wanted the throne for so many centuries after being your shadow,” He further explained with a sinister smile of pleasure.

“Without you knowing I gathered all the leaders of the noble families and planned to get rid of you needless to say they loved the idea,” He said with a smile.

I should have known those traitors were in cahoots.

“Then someone approached me, a powerful being,” He revealed.

‘A powerful being?’ could he mean?

“A Celestial?” I asked, being almost certain that it was true.

He began to chuckle. “Always hitting the nail on the head,” He said walking down the few steps from the throne and heading toward me with his wine glass.

“A celestial invited me, the leaders of werewolves and humans and we discussed one thing,” He revealed.

“How to destroy me,” I said.

“That's right, the deal we made was for you to die and the three races to be at peace with me as the new king,” Draculos' words hurt me deep inside. I thought of him as a brother and this is what he thought of me.

“He gave me a special dagger that had a special power which not even I knew what exactly that power was, the Celestial only told me that this dagger was enough to end you,” He explained.

“But you failed,” I said mockingly.

“Unfortunately yes, after I lured you into my trap the dagger only managed to seal you which made me seal you to the end of the world,” He said with disappointment.

5000 years ago I and Draculos were asked to investigate a certain unknown place which turned out to be those ruins I would end up being sealed in.

I remember arriving deep inside the ruins with him and being attacked by humans and werewolves. I dealt with them until an unknown powerful figure dressed in black with his face hidden attacked me. I was certain that this figure must have been a celestial I ordered Draculos to deal with the humans and werewolves and I would deal with the unknown celestial but at that moment: “I'm sorry. I will lead the Vampires in your stead Lord Xeonos,” He said from behind and stabbed me with the dagger.

The next thing I remember was waking up inside a tomb and saving Leyla.

“Haha, I thought you had a more valid reason to betray me. Turned out it was nothing but the lust of power that was driving you. Pretty primitive,” I told him with a smirk.

“Now that I have the answer, prepare to face your punishment for your betrayal,” My orange eyes began to glow.

At that moment three streams of smoke surrounded us.

The three streams of smoke landed on the ground and turned into three figures wearing black clothing. It turned out it was three Vampires.

The three of them stood between me and Draculos.

“We will not let you approach our Lord,” One of the three said it was a pale woman with long black hair and red eyes.

The other two were men, one was a giant carrying a large hammer and the other was a vampire reading a book and adjusting his glasses.

“Your guardogs?” I asked with a mocking smile.

“Watch your tone!” The tall person yelled.

“He's just a primitive loser,” The person with the book said with a smooth tone.

Draculos was a fool if he believed that calling in those three would change what was about to come.

“I hope you realise that calling those three dogs will not change what I am about to do,” I warned him.

“The Beloved Vampire King Dracula is killed in action defending his people from the Malicious King Cassius Xeonos. How do you think people would react to that?” I began to reduce the power in my eyes which stopped them from glowing.

“You would be hated by the people for killing their beloved King and would be labelled as a criminal and driven out of Transylvania,” He said.

I hated it to admit but he was right. I couldn't kill him. The people would have labelled me as a criminal and driven me out of the Kingdom giving Draculos the win.

The political advantage was on his side for ten generations, that's something I couldn't solve overnight.

“That's right you fool!” The tall guy walked closer to me lowering his head to directly face my face.

“Get your ugly face away from me,” I was not in the mood, my rage was immeasurable, Draculos was sitting on the throne with a smile amused by the scene unfolding in front of him.

The other two stared at me while they smirked.

“Get your ugly face of yours out of mine,” I clenched my right fist.

“Or what?” He asked with a smirk.

“AAAAHHHHH!”...........*BOOOOOM!*

“What happened?!” The guy with the book asked in confusion.

There was an enormous impact that shook the throne room with dust covering parts of the right wall.

“Where is….?” The woman couldn’t finish before she got the answer.

To my right, the muscle head was lying unconscious because I punched him against the wall with such strength that his velocity caused many cracks and a crater.

The other two began to draw magic circles.

“Get him and leave us,” Draculos, who watched in amusement began to order them to leave.

“Are you sure?” The woman asked with worry.

Draculos was glaring at her menacingly “Did I stutter?” He asked with anger.

The woman didn't respond, she and the man carried the unconscious person out of the throne room.

“Those three must have realised you were here and decided to confront you,” He explained.

“Now that we are alone, let me offer you something,” Draculos reached into his pocket, pulling out a card with a Fang logo on it.

“In a week from today, there will be enrolment exams for the prestigious Transylvania Academy, the best Magic academy in this nation,” He handed me the card. I remembered that it was the same academy Leyla wanted to enter.

“Normally to qualify to take part in the enrolment exams a letter from the academy inviting you is required, but if you show them this card you are eligible to participate,” He said.

I took the card and took a look at it.

“Why should I enrol into the academy?” I asked since I doubted that there was anything I could learn.

“Don't you want to have a peaceful life and learn how life in Transylvania has become over the past 5000 years of peace?” He asked with that disgusting smirk of his showing his fangs.

I wanted to learn how life progressed for the people in the last 5000 years and I wanted a chance to see Leyla again.

Draculos summoned his wine glass and took a sip.

“Have some?” He extended the wine glass to me.

The pain I felt was something I couldn't describe, here I was powerless to do anything against the man whom I once thought of as a brother against the man who took everything from me.

“Soon enough I will wipe that smirk clean off your face,” I cast the spell Luniun which teleported me away from the castle and back into my room's inn.

“Enjoy your new life,” He said, taking another sip.

I would make sure that the people know who the true King is and expose the treachery of Draculos and the nobles.

I then looked at the card.

“Let's see what the academy has to offer,” I said.

One week later…
