Chapter 1: Awakening.
P3 5000 Years Later
I teleported us further back from the capital given that lunuin (teleportation magic) would have drawn attention from pedestrians and guards, the same it did with Leyla.
What I saw shocked me. From what I remembered the capital had a population of 1,000,000 vampires with most being soldiers.
The reason for that was that the capital was the main target of attacks from Werewolves and Humans, civilians thus lived far away from such threats.
Now 5000 years after the war, the area of the capital has increased tenfold. I saw farmers and families standing outside the gates in queues waiting to be granted entrance to the capital.
“The capital is certainly different from what I recall,” I said with confusion which was slowly replaced with joy that vampires felt safe to live here.
Leyla and I headed for one of the gates, we stood in a queue.
“U-Uhm Cassius,” Leyla whispers.
“Is something wrong?” I replied, curious to hear what she had to say.
“I don't want to be rude but I think you should not use your real name if the guards ask for it,” Leyla warned me.
That was a valid concern if hearing my name brought out such reactions as it did with Leyla. The people would come to resent the true king and I didn't want to cause panic in the peaceful minds of Vampires– Vampires went through enough trauma.
“I understand thank you for telling me,” I replied with gratitude.
As time passed it was our turn to pass through the gates.
The guards made sure that no threat would enter the capital, they pulled aside individuals they deemed suspicious and inspected carriages from farmers to ensure they didn't try to smuggle anyone and anything into the capital.
Leyla walked up to the guards where she was able to pass through without being questioned.
Now it was my turn. I walked to the guards. “STOP!” One of the guards called out to me.
“Is something the problem?” I asked.
Leyla came from behind the guards, “ He's my friend who never lived in the capital, he is here to take the upcoming entrance exams,” Leyla explained.
“Dressed like that it's not a surprise you aren't from around here,” The guard referred to my black battle armour and robe, 5000 years ago this was the norm to wear battle armour now that the world is at peace it was standing out I couldn't blame the guards.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
If I were in their shoes I would have done the same.
“I'm sorry my family isn't well off, they wanted to make sure that I looked as extravagant as possible so they gifted me this armour which had been passed down from generation to generation,” I hoped that the lie I came up with was convincing enough.
The guards stared at each other for a few moments. “Alright, you may enter and good luck with your exams,” The Guards stepped aside.
I and Leyla entered the capital of Transylvania. I saw a sight in the capital like I never did before: children playing games, families going to different markets and people being filled with happiness, unlike the days of the war.
I also saw a very familiar building, “It's still standing,” In the centre was my castle Alsior it was a castle made out of Irimian steel-infused rock which was the reason for the castle's golden yellow colour.
I felt the magical presence of Dracula coming from that castle, today I would confront him.
“Where do you plan on staying?” Leyla asked me.
“I'm not sure yet,” I replied. I was so busy thinking about Dracula that I forgot about my accommodation.
“I would offer you to stay at my place but my mother wouldn't allow it,” Leyla said with regret.
“There is no need to worry I will find something,” I told her.
“That's good I'm off now I haven't been home for 2 weeks and I'm sure my mother must be worried by now,” Leyla was running off waving her hand. “Until we meet again,” She disappeared in the crowd of people.
Before I was confronting Dracula I needed to find a place to stay and walk around the capital after 5000 years.
I changed my clothes with magic to avoid standing out.
After walking around the capital for hours I came to realise that not everything was as it seemed and I would need to ask Dracula about this.
Now I sought out a place to stay. “That inn looks comfortable,” I saw a sign saying ‘Velvet Inn’ hanging above the door.
“Welcome to Velvet Inn,” I entered the inn and was greeted by a woman.
“Do you have a room available?” I asked.
“Of course please follow me,” The woman led me to the front desk.
The woman pulled out a thick book, “Can you please tell me your name?” She asked.
Telling her my real name wasn't an option, she would most likely be in panic like Leyla was and refuse to let me stay here.
“It's Ilyas,” That was the name of someone dear to me.
She wrote the name in the book with her Quill. “Great,” She turned around to the wall behind with room keys hanging.
She grabbed one of the keys and handed it to me. “Here is your room key, the cost is 2 copper coins per night,” She handed me the key and I handed her two copper coins I created with zest (matter magic).
Advanced users of this spell aren't just able to change existing matter into something else but are also able to create anything out of nothing.
“Here you go,” I placed the coins on the counter and made my way to my room.
The key had the number 21, it was on the second floor.
I opened the door with the key–inside the room was: a bed, a bedside table and a closet.
It was late in the afternoon only a few hours from now Dracula would need to explain himself to me.
5 hours later…
“Night has fallen. Time to visit Dracula,” I cast the spell nul (stealth magic), nul is a spell that turns the caster invisible to the naked eye as long as their magic power doesn't run out.
Luniun (teleportation magic) was not an option since Dracula would have sensed the enormous magic power and the space distortion attributed to this spell.
I left the room through the window and cast the spell Nergen (flight magic). I flew toward the castle without the guards noticing me.
I eventually arrived at the castle, the castle doors were shut which was not a problem I just phased through the doors.
I was inside the castle, Dracula was inside the throne room which was located on the highest floor.
The guards walked around failing to notice my presence which made it easy to reach the throne room.
Ascending through the castle made me notice that nothing major had changed. Dracula kept the style of the castle the same, was it to show me respect? That could be discussed later.
Inside the throne room
A man with long blonde hair, red eyes and a moustache was sitting on the throne inside the dark throne room, drinking red wine with a bowl of grapes placed on the throne's left-hand rest.
“He's finally awakened,” He said, eating a grape and washing it down with a zip of his wine.
“You certainly have it comfortable, Draculos,” I said, revealing myself to him.
My blood began to boil with rage seeing the man whom I considered a brother: betray me, steal my life and steal all I did for my kind.
I remained calm on the outside.
“It's been a long time since someone called me by that name,” Draculos said, that was his birth name which he changed to Dracula for unknown reasons to me.
“It's been a while Lord Cassius,” Dracula stood up from the throne and walked down the 5 steps.
“You have some explanations to do,” I said with rage in addition to sorrow.
He stood in front of me, he had aged in the past 5000 years from looking like a young adult to a middle-aged man.
“I guess I do,” He said with a smile with his fangs showing.
