A loud jingling thud brought Kadins attention back to the portal as a few of the larger demons stepped through bigger than him and wearing a strange lacquered armour across their chests looking almost like and insects exoskeleton, in an almost black shade of blue with a few light green accents on it. Kadin could still see the heavily muscled arms of the red skinned demon beneath the armour but it had on a pair of dark gloves to almost its elbows, it also had on black pointed boots and a helmet that almost fully covered its face leaving only a small opening at the mouth. The deadric prince followed in his heavy black armour that seemed to be made up of overlapping spikes and scales covering its entire body leaving what could be considered blades in their own rights at his elbows and what looked like raptors claws as the shoulder guards, its helmet also had two long spikes slowly rising above its head leaving a space only for the two dull glowing eyes. The prince looked around the cavern as if it were a king looking over his own hall, it was here that Kadin was finally noticed, it quickly lifted its hand pointing at Kadin and spoke, its voice sounded like dozens of overlapping voices all trying to say something different:
“QEWA’RMNOL!” it demanded.
Kadin stood there his tongue seemed to be stuck to the roof of his mouth, his mind still blank distantly wondering if he should still attack, and completely unable to process what he just heard. When he didn’t reply the armour clad figure spoke again.
“UEL, QEWA’RMNOL!” it demanded again … Kadin may not have understood but the building anger the demons voice he knew well enough. As it spoke the other larger demons flanked the prince and had their hands resting on the hilts of their swords they wore at their waist. Behind them a few more demons were now crossing the portal, seeing this Kadin finally found his voice.
“eerrmm; I don’t speak Demon.” He said lamely.
The demon looked to either side of him at the other two to see if their reaction .. which was blank. So the prince turned to Kadin again and spoke again in a different voice
“Dar lah heth etl?”
Kadins eyes widened in surprise – that was Dwarven. He had heard the language but didn’t speak it himself, again Kadin wished that Aurora was here, she could speak Dwarven – then an idea hit him Kadin spoke
“el uthin die aloth?” The demon looked at him for a second before it spoke again
“yes, I do speak elvish.” It answered Kadins question in elvish then he went on in a dry voice sounding like crumbling leather.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
“Who are you ? and why are you hear?” it asked Kadin. Kadin thought for a second before deceding on an honest answer.
“I came to – stop this.” He said indicating at the portal. At which point the two large demons flanking the prince laughed, dry guttural laughs that sounded like a rockfall, then the prince spoke again
“Then you have failed.” As he said this Kadin was slowly backing away towards the long tunnel, noticing this it spoke again.
“I cannot allow you to go – you will bring back others before we are able to establish ourself.” As he said this he indicated at the two flanking demons; who immediately started advancing on Kadin.
Kadin turned to flee down the long corridor but as soon as he turned he saw that two of the lith nimble demons had managed to sneak past him and were blocking the way back. Kadin charged forwards regardless, drawing his twin short swords, aiming to get past them and escape as he charged forwards. One of the beings blurred forwards moving faster than anything Kadin had ever seen – its hand reaching for his head. Had it been holding a sword Kadin would not have been able to get his own blade up in time as it was the lith demon in front of him had tried to knock him out not kill him – however Kadin did get his blade up in time, his blade connected with the wrist guard and swiping forwards with the sword in his other hand. But his opponent blurred back so his blade only scored a shallow gash along the chitin armour plating of the being in front of him. The armour it was wearing was the same blue and green of the others and it seemed to be somewhat organic as the cut was repairing itself – getting shallower then disappearing altogether. All this happened in the space of a second and just as Kadin was about to try and escape again, he heard all the demons around him hiss in anger, and one of the big muscular ones who were closing in behind him sword drawn shouted in elvish.
“STOP!, those blades they were made by our kind! RETURN THEM!” he screamed at Kadin.
Kadin was dumbfounded to see every demon around him drop out of combat stances and just looked at him. As the big demon who had shouted at him had sheathed his sword and was walking forwards with his hand out fully expecting Kadin to hand over the twin short swords.
It was a surreal moment and again Kadin had the fleeting thought of just stabbing him, but they weren’t trying to kill him it seemed so he didn’t want to cause a war if he could stop it – but at the same time he wasn’t going to hand over his favourite weapons.
“No, these are my blades” then feeling a need to justify himself added
“I looted them from a dungeon”. He charged a light air blast into his hand and thrust it forwards hitting the big demon in the chest sending him flying back. At this the two little demons who had been crying over the body of the necromancer jumped up and started snapping angrily and were waving their hands around in the air – a second later they threw two small fireballs at Kadin – ‘ fire imps’ he thought to himself as he dove out of the way. He righted himself and turned to flee again. The demons still seeming to be in a state of semi confusion that he didn’t hand over his weapons didn’t react in time and he was able to get into the tunnel.
