08 - Asher the OC

I was on my way to the adventurers guild to sign up as any isekai protagonist would.

I was already an adult so I couldn't go to school here anymore, so no academy stories in this book. Sorry!

Either way, this is the best way to get started on my journey.

An important question was: What kind of persona should I take?

I didn’t have a gun, yet, so my options on the edgy side were a bit limited.

But I did have a katana, that was a good start, now, just a trench-coat and my destiny will be fulfilled.

But in all seriousness, should I be the Edgy Lone Wolf?

I kind of liked being around other people and of course I loved to talk my heart out.

Seems like that was something new to me.

In the old world I would barely speak a word to anyone, in real life, online I wrote paragraphs worth of stuff if I could talk about it.

There were other options.

For example:

The cocky brat. Nah.

Dumb Shounen Protagonist. No way, I ain't THAT stupid.

The Pervert? No.

I looked at the sword and contemplated. Should I just be another swordsman?

Feels a bit empty, doesn't it?

I am my own original character, (do not steal). I shouldn't emulate anything or anyone I have seen before.

Well, when you have been surrounded your entire previous life by stuff like that, who can you blame except yourself?

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

After I earned some money I could change my equipment to fit my actual persona.

Maybe it was to my advantage that I also looked kinda bland, not having the typical anime character look.

Though I have a semi-divine being here...

“Hey Faye,” I said to her, she was walking next to me, “is there a way to change my appearance?”

“In this world, there are generally no good ways to change a person's appearance permanently, there are a few ways to change it for a while. There are also other ways but you would not like them.”

“Great, or not great, depends. Just do what you do best and we'll come back to that later when we have some free time.”

I entered the guild house and walked over to the receptionist, an old dwarven man with a big bushy beard.

“Excuse me, my stubby buddy. Me and my companion are looking to sign up.”

"Stop," Faye said. I was turned toward her by what felt like an invisible hand, "I have not accepted to participate with you in the career you chose."

“What’s the matter? Too good to work for you own good? Just kidding. Think about it this way, you're stuck with me until I die so why not just do the same thing I do.

We’ll just double our fame and reputation, so there’s no problem.”

There was a brief pause and then I was turned in the direction of the dwarf by the invisible force again.

“And what are your names?” he asked.

“I am the black swordsman, the alpha and the omega, The humanoid typhoon, Asher Burell and this is my lovely companion Lady Faye Paragon.”

“What are your classes?” he asked after an awkward pause.

“Oh baby, I can be anything you want me to be. A first-grade warrior, a mage, a thief, a warlock, a cleric, an assassin, a priest, an alchemist, a farmer, a cultivator…”

-A minute later-

“…and that’s about it. I think that were all things I could be. Just scribble me down as multi-classer, will you? And my companion here? I don’t know, ask her.”

I looked at her and she spoke up.

“I am a spell caster.”

The dwarf scribbled for a while then handed us two necklaces.

“Here are your tags. Congrats, you're part of the guild now. Glass rank members.”

“If you will explain to me, good man, what are the ranks.” I asked, leaning against the counter, listening intently.

He exhaled loudly and said in one breath, “glass, bone, copper, iron, silver, gold, platinum, mithril, obsidian, diamond.”

Impressive. But I don’t think these will matter in the story at all.

"There are a few privileges the higher tiers have, like use of the guild's blacksmith and alchemist. You can hand in personal requests to them to craft yourself specific gear. There is a pamphlet letting you know all-"

"Yeah, no. I don't really care." I turned around and walked towards the notice board, "Let's go, Faye."

I had no money and needed as much as I could get my hands on, so any job was fine.
