Chapter 8 – Reunion

Woden with Tia, Nail and Helius started to travel in a cart with two horses towards the outer skirts of the Tenri Kingdom.

Woden: “Alright will you please tell me now how you rescued my parents?”

Helius:”Ah, yes. The thing is at first we don’t know where they are held captive. So what we did is placed ourselves in every fortress we knew around the Kingdom. On the day you were born, it seems queen did a forbidden magic right?”

Woden:”Yes. That’s how she was able to transfer me”

Helius:”A problem occurred due to that. You see, when Queen Maria used the spell, there was a light that shined all over the fort and luckily few of our men were on the lookout. They suspected something and inflirated the fort and everybody in the fort are unconscious. So it was easy for us to locate the King and Queen and we rescued them. Not but them we were also able to find few nobles of our side and rescued them and hidden them. But we didn’t find you.”

Helius:”There was a huge uproar among Den and other nobles who opposed us because most of the men in the fort are either dead or unconscious. So Den and High Nobles decided to cause a fake death of Queen and a fake King to execute. They created some units to secretly search for the missing people. But that party too was disbanded when most of the people found in the fort died”

Helius:”Even few nobles rescued by us died too. But those who were alive remained unconscious for more than five years. We halted to proceed our plans and from the help of the Tenri Kingdoms we were able to diagnose the problem and treated them”

Woden:”What is the problem?”

Helius:”Most of the prisoned people were very weak. They were unable to sustain their mana. When Queen used the forbidden spell there was some interference and it caused heavy disturbance in mana pool to every people in the fort. Those who had very good disposition were able to sustain their life and other are dead.”

Woden:[(in his thoughts)is it something to do with my mana pool]”So why did they faked the death and the execution? Don’t tell me so that they can get the throne”

Helius:”Yep. You see, the throne can be given to the four High Families when there is no heir to the throne. Technically it should have gone to Den but high priest position can’t be transferred to another unless he is dead. So there you have the answers for what and how.”

Helius:”So now I have answered all your questions. Please answer mine. Where were you? Who trained you in both combat and magic? What have you gone through to have that kind of killing intent?”

Woden:”I will keep my promise. The first two questions can be answered by mom. And the last question is you will eventually find out when we speak to my parents.”

Helius:”Oi. You didn’t answer my questions at all. And King thinks that you were dead. But Queen is reaching what occurred on that day even till now to find your safety”

Woden:”Didn’t I tell you. When we get to meet them every questions will be answered”

Woden closed his eyes with a happiness that he is not alone anymore. Tia and Nail kept quite during the conversation and were kept a look out for any problem and animal that attack them while travelling.  Helius was not contempt with the reply from Woden, so he was sulking but eventually he became happy as he imagined how happy the King and Queen will be when they know that their son is alive and well and strong.

After a few day of travelling, Woden who was sleeping now was awakend by a sudden sound of tree falling from near the cart. Woden took jumped out from cart and took a fighting stance and he saw a man with a same feature as him with aged around 30s and a bit build up body with an axe on his hand. Helius got down normally and bowed down to the man before him and “Good day my King”. Woden knew from those words that the man before him is his father.

Grey: ”Good day Helius. So who is this lad in front of me taking a battle stance?”

Helius:”My King, Please forgive his rudeness on my behalf and we have a very important matter to discuss in the presence of Queen too.”

Woden:”Oi old man who asked you beg for forgiveness for my behavior. And you fallen King I can be how rude I want to be. If you what it takes to make me bow show me with your might and not with words (taunted his father)”

Grey unknowing that the boy in front of him was his son ”you got guts but no manners and don’t taunt like that kid” furiously took a battle stance and started to emit killing intent. Woden on other hand was smiling[(in his thought) well so he got a good mind despite his fall on status. Now let’s check his strength]. Helius, nail and tia were surprised by the turn of event and helius tried to interrupt but stopped when he saw Wodens smiling face and thought to himself [well is this kid trying some bonding that he missed all these years].

Woden approached very fast and took a leg swipe. Grey was surprised from the attack but dodged swiftly and throws the axe axis aiming at woden. But woden swiftly catches the axe and throws it aiming for Greys leg but before he could, greys approaches woden and punches him.

Woden took the punch by slightingly moving backward to avoid full impact and was blow a bit back and he balanced himself “Well old man you got power alright”

Grey was astonished by the battle sense of woden when he avoided the full impact of the punch and felt a familiarity towards woden and stopped emitting the killing intent and “Child who are you? Your battle sense and the unfazed expression from my killing intent awes me.”

Woden:”Che. And here I thought we could have a bit fun.”

Hearing the commotion from outside a woman, who looks same age as Grey, left the room she was in and hurriedly came and found the boy that was battling her husband. When she saw the boy tears flow down from her eyes and ran towards him and hugged him and “at last you came . I waited for more years to meet you finally.” Seeing his wife’s action Grey ”Woden. Are you woden” and rushed forward and hugged his wife and woden and tears flowed down from his face with a smile that showed from the a face that regained energy which lost all these years.

After a teary and happy reunion everybody got into the house and wodens mother didn’t let go of him for a while. After Maria calmed down everybody sat on chair.

Woden:”Mom when helius told me that you guys regained conscious after five years why didn’t you visit me in the forest?”

Maria: “Sorry woden. Your father was way down both physically and mentally and he only regained his old self a bit after two years. And he insisted on saying that you were dead and we must prepare to regain the throne. Since I too doubted your death because of the incident I started to research about what interfered and the situation on the Reinfield with other Kingdom became worse which stopped me from going to the forest house. I regret my decision even now but before I find proof of your living I can’t risk the life of others by going there since my presence is very important here in Tenri.”

Woden:” Well you should have at least asked some of your friends to reach out to me. What is done is done and it also helped me to improve a lot.”

Grey: “Forgive me and her son. It is because of my incompetence that led to this situation”

Helius:”Now prince. Please answer my questions which I asked before.”

Maria: ”What questions were they Helius?”

Helius:”My Queen it is about the survival of prince. Because if somebody knows about him, we will be in danger.”

Maria: ”Oh about that. You see helius, I have arranged a place so to keep him hidden and arranged a slave for him to take care until he becomes three and she will die after three years because of mana depletion”

Woden:”As for my strength and other stuff” he started to explain about the life style he led on the forest, knowledge gained from his mother and books in the house and also the meeting with Tyron.

Helius was astonished and he is unable to find a word to describe about woden. All he thought was Woden is genius and he also found the reason for the arrogance and courage and strength of woden form his explanation.

After they had lunch, woden asked his mother about the phenomenon happened on the fort and she too was unable to find a concrete reason but just said “May be your mana interrupted during the teleportation spell because of the sudden injection of the knowledge transfer spell.”

Woden on that slept with his parent side and for the first time in his life he had a bright face while sleeping and slept without cursing anyone for the misfortune he had till now.
