III: Nightmare

"It's a miracle!" a voice can be heard through blinding lights. The doctors are crying. She feels weird since the second thing she saw was a robot orb in the Traveler's shape. She didn't cry at all, rather she was confused about her environment. The area of the doctor's office was unsettling to her at first, but after some minutes she calms down.

"So, what will you name her?" the doctor asks.

"Arita..." those were the last words before tragedy struck. Suddenly, the building crumbles down. Panicked screams surround the room as concrete fell on Arita. Her mother could escape, but not Arita. She was just born. She couldn't just wake up and walk out of the womb.

"Arita?!" her mother shouts. "Arita?!"

In the building's rubble, her mother desperately searches for her newborn daughter. Arita cries out for her mother but to no avail. Her mother opens the door and rummages, hoping her daughter is alive and well. Before she could find her, fallen troops swarmed the room where they were both in. Her mother finds her daughter and takes out a knife. She tries to scare the fallen away from her and her daughter. Before the fallen could attack her mother, an ever-growing orb of light emitted out of baby Arita's body, leading the fallen away from them both and killing them in the process. Her mother tries to catch her breath but falls to the floor. Arita was too young to understand it now, but this recurring nightmare awoke Arita from her coma once again.

Thrashing, crying, and yelling, Saber tries to hold her back and console her. Seeing the tears in Arita's eyes made her feel horrible, but the best she can do is hug her close.

"I know, it sucks losing your mother like that." Saber said, holding back tears of her own. "She was such a hero, right?"

"What could you possibly know about her?" Arita shouts. "I lost my mother at birth, and I still have nightmares about it to this day. Even as a guardian, I have to bear the burden of being there at the wrong time and it sucks!" Arita struggles to speak clearly. "It's my fault, and I couldn't do anything."

Saber smiles and hugs Arita closer as she breaks down in front of her. The words she said almost made her cry as well. She would've been there if she wasn't on another mission, she could've been escorted her and Arita out safely. Though Saber is 10 years older than Arita, they both became guardians at the same time. She couldn't tell Arita that she was entrusted with her care when her mother died, just like how Saber was in Arita's mother's care when Saber's dad was executed in public.

"That girl, isn't that?"

"I know"

"What about that other girl?"

"It's only if she has the willpower to standby her."

"Just observe from a distance, your time will come, Oryx."

"Yes, my Witness."
