Chapter 1: The Cosmodrome

Chapter 1: The Cosmodrome

"Are you alright, Guardian?" The Guardian asks.

"I don't know..." Arita mummers. "My head hurts, everything hurts."

"We were told to shoot down a ship full of Hive but we saw two guardians get out via escape pods, so that was a mistake, ‌we apologize," The Guardian says as he charges up a solar grenade. He charges up a solar grenade until it turns into a bright light color. As the guardian throws the grenade on Arita, her wounds from the initial crash subsides.

"What is your name?" The Guardian asks.

"Arita..." Arita mutters as she regains her voice. "The Awoken Outrider."

"Ah Arita, my name is Skolas," Skolas says. "I'm kinda new to this whole guardian thing as well."

"I was exiled from here because I couldn't do a mission the 'correct way', whatever that means," Arita scoffs. "And my buddy over there, her name is Saber."

As Arita says this, Saber wakes up and almost has a panic attack from the 2 other guardians surrounding her. Arita facepalms as she sees that.

"She's a whole weirdo,"

"Haha, the other 2 guardians are also weirdos too. Don't worry," Skolas laughs. The two guardians laugh as they look at their friends goofing around. Skolas suddenly gets a call from someone.

"Yes, hello?" He says. "Oh Zavala! What's up? Mhm, Mhm, you want me to connect you to her? Alright, got it."

"What's up?" Arita asks.

"Zavala wants to apologize to you for exiling you," Skolas says. "He realized his mistake. And wants to 'make it up to you', whatever that means."

Arita laughs as he says that. "Alright, connect me to him."

"Greetings, Arita," Zavala says.

"Yo yo yo! You finally ready to give me a damn chance you smurf?" Arita asks.

"You fucking cunt, settle down," Zavala scolds angrily.

Arita laughs hysterically as he says this.

"I'm sorry I'm sorry that was way too funny!" Arita shouts as her laughter grabs the attention of some nearby enemies. These mutual insects stand on their two feet and are the size of humans. They look at Arita and ready a shot but before they react, the vandal sees a golden gun aimed right at him. Arita looks at the vandal before shooting it. The shot served a signal to start the ambush. Before anyone could react, Skolas jumped up. He shines like the sun as he unleashes a barrage of blades to kill all the scatter insects.

"Fallen are so annoying, aren't they?" Skolas sighs.

"Yeah, they are super annoying." Arita says as she facepalms.

Those creatures are the Fallen, insect-like creatures who have a decent territorial sect on the Cosmodrome. The war on the Fallen dates back to the Dark Age when the Darkness first attacked the system. When the Darkness attacked, the Traveler fled. All of humanity were in shock and horror at what to do during the time. Three fabled Guardians helped ‌humanity with two of them, helping in the shadows.

"I remember the Dark Age," Arita says as she reminisces about it. "The shadows were the best place to help ‌others from."

"You were a part of it?" Skolas asks excitedly.

"Yeah, I was always in the shadows though," Arita sighs. "Those were the days where no one could tell me what to do." "It didn't matter if I helped someone or not, when I helped someone it was genuine, now it's fake."

"Even as a new light, I see what you mean," Skolas says. "No one is genuine nowadays. They just want a paycheck."

"Don't get wrong, the money is good," Arita says as she sits down on the remains of the escape pod. "It's just, it'll be nice if the humans were more genuine."

"I understand that." Anyway, we should go back to the Tower."

"Can you help me fix my ship first?" As she builds the remains of her ship, Arita asks. They have known Arita for her excellent survival skills. Skolas scurries to help her out. It took them ‌2 hours to finish up Arita's ship. At the end, her ship looked like a custom hive ship.

"When I went on the ship, I had to kill lots of Hive so I used their remains to make my ship look cool!" Arita says excitedly.

Skolas sighs as they both go to rebuild Saber's ship. While Arita and Skoals were talking, Saber had made a great acquaintance with the other guardians of Skolas' fireteam.

"Saber!" Arita shouts.

"Ah, Arita! How was your chat with Mr. Fireteam Leader?" Saber asks with a grin on her face.

"Did you forget that I'm lesbian, you fuckhead?" Arita asks sarcastically.

Saber laughs hysterically. "It's fun to piss you off!" Saber says, trying to keep her composure.

"You fucking bitch," Arita says as she raises her fist.

Skolas chuckles as the two friends bicker at each other.

"So Skolas, do you have a thing for Arita?" one of the guardians said.

"No, definitely not," Skolas says. "Even if I was, she's a lesbian so it wouldn't work out anyway."

The guardians laugh as they take a couple of beers out of their compartment. Skolas looks at Arita and smirks.

"So, this is who you chose to be the next vanguard, Cayde," Skolas says to himself. "You made a good choice."

As Arita finishes up Saber's ship, Saber gazes at her. She can't contain her smile as Arita looks at her confused. She puts her hand on her hip as she stops what she is doing temporarily.

"What, you wanna fuck or something?" Arita asks.

"You know when you lookin at me like that, I wanna fuck," Saber says seductively.

"You horny bitch, pipe down at least."

Saber laughs as Arita shakes her head. Saber decides to take in the environment that she hasn't been in for a long time. As she takes a walk, she sees a ghost resurrecting a guardian for the first time. As she sees the exo's face, her eyes widen. The exo's body rises up and fills itself with the power of the light.

"Trevor... is that you?" Saber asks, trying to hold in her tears. The Exo opens his eyes for the first time.

"Sa...ber?" Trevor asks. "What happened?"

Before he could figure out what is going on, Saber holds Trevor close.

"You have no idea, how long I had to wait," Saber says while crying. "So, so long."

"I'm glad I at least remember you," Trevor says. "But the other one, who is she again?"

"Ah yeah, that's Arita."

"That's Arita?" Trevor asks.

"Yeah, hehe you missed a lot."

"It can't be that much, right?" Trevor scratches his exo head. "That bitch Clovis made me like this."

Saber sighs. "I don't want to go to Europa yet!" Saber groans. As she says this, Arita walks towards her.

"Oh shit! Trevor! How have you been?" Arita asks. "I ain't see yo ass in forever, seems like you're a guardian now!"

"Shut up before I whoop yo ass again," Trevor says slightly annoyed.

"Do you want run them hands again?" Arita asks smugly. "I can call up Shaxx anytime!"

"Hey! Not now!" Saber shouts as she separated the two bickering hunters.

"Nah, she want smoke so I gotta give it to her!" Trevor shouts back.

"Bro shut the fuck up! Both of you! Dayum!"

"What, you can't handle a bit of trash talk?" Arita smugly asks.

"No, y'all just annoying!"

"Says the one who horny for me," Arita mutters. Arita and Trevor both chuckle. Saber looks at Arita with a golden flame in her eyes.

"You want to die? I'll Dawnblade yo ass straight to the Darkness," Saber scolds.

Arita takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. When she opens her eyes, they glow purple. "Seems like you don't remember do you?"

Arita and Saber look at each other with murderous intent before they silently agree to disagree. The other guardians escort Trevor to a starter mission while Arita continues to fix up Saber's ship. As Arita finishes up the ship, Arita sees a figure in the distance, she looks for a bit then continues to polish the ship. An Exo Stranger looks at the two guardians from a mountaintop.

"So, they actually came back," she mutters to himself as she leaves. "These two, they can actually defeat the Black Heart, I just know it."

"And it's done!" Arita shouts. Saber looks at her ship in awe. She instantly hops in the drivers seat and Arita shakes her head.

"You that excited to get back to driving?" Arita asks.

"Hell yeah!" Saber shouts as she revs the engine.

Arita runs to her ship and starts up the engine as well. The two Awoken buddies fly all the way to the place that they were just exiled from. The place where all guardians meet up to do the greatest shenanigans. As Arita and Saber arrive to the Tower, they are greeted by Ikora and Amanda Holiday.

"Welcome back Arita," Ikora says while shaking her hand. "It's great to have you back."

"Welcome back!" Amanda says. "Seems like you put my ship building skill in good use!"

Arita smiles at Amanda as she hugs her. Saber looks at Amanda and smiles.

"So, our dorms are still in the same place?" Saber says.

"Actually, you and Arita will be living together." Ikora chuckles slightly.

"Yes! Let's go! We'll be living together!" Saber shouts. Arita laughs and she takes her stuff to their new dorms in The Last City. Arita starts to put her clothes down in her side of the room while Saber takes out a game console.

"Humanity has been reaching new lengths and they still make us buy these consoles?" Saber groans. "This was almost a thousand Glimmer, what the hell!"

Arita looks at Saber while she makes her bed. After she makes her bed, they come to a realization. They need to buy groceries and daily everyday needs. Arita and Saber look at each other with wide eyes.

"You finna buy groceries?" Arita asks.

"Hell, thee fuck no," Saber demands. "I can't go out lookin like this, you tweakin jit."

"We don't have to wear our armor y'know," Arita snarks. "We can go out in our regular clothes." Hopefully my clothes still fit me. After becoming a guardian I've gained a more muscle mass.

Saber wastes no time and takes off her robe and puts it in the laundry basket. Arita sighs and does the same. Under the Traveler, stuff like laundry has gotten so advanced that a simple laundry basket can wash 5 full bags of clothes in 30 minutes. As soon as they put their formal wear in their laundry baskets, they meet eyes with other. Saber starts to blush as Arita looks at her and smirks.

"You horny bastard," Arita says smugly as she puts on a shirt. Saber punches Arita as she laughs.

"It ain't ma fault I have hormones," Saber sighs. "AT least you can pull off the bikini look correctly."

Arita laughs hysterically as she walks out the door. "Alright, alright, don't let no fuckheads into the house!" she shouts.

Arita heads out to the supermarket to get some things. As soon as she enters the supermarket, she sees an Exo girl there picking out food for exos. Arita finds that weird but doesn't pay it no mind. Arita gets the groceries and checks out like usual. She looks at the price and gets agitated.

"The hell you mean 1200 Glimmer?!" she shouts. "I didn't even get that much stuff!"

The cashier tries to calm her down. "Did you get the sales for this week?" he asks nervously.

"Shit, that was my bad, I didn't get the coupon list this week," Arita says as she calms down. She pays the 1200 Glimmer with a warm smile. As she is about to leave, the exo girl stops her.

"You, are you a guardian?" She asks sternly.

"Y-yeah I am," Arita stutters.

"Have you ever heard of the Black Garden?"

"Yeah, I heard that I need to stop a black heart from projecting humanity into another Dark Age," Arita said. "I'm still trying to adjust to being back in the Last City first."

"I understand that," The exo said. "It is hard to have to be a hero when you were just exiled 3 months ago."

"I'll get used to it in a month."

"That's a perfect time for me," she says.

As Arita walks out of the door, The Exo Stranger disappears. This stranger's name is Elsie Bray, daughter of Clovis Bray of the Deep Stone Crypt. Arita has a strange feeling that maybe a month is just enough time for her to take on something as bad as the Black Heart. She is just worried if Saber will be the same way she is.
