Standing up, Jessica gathered the blobs and her sister and headed down to the lower level. The power room was a tight fit for all of them. In the corner where the floor panel to the shaft was, was covered in an inch thick lining of metal, completely sealing the hatch down.

Turning towards the group Jessica said "Okay we should be able to safely speak here. I don't believe they can easily overhear us down here. We have a problem. It looks like the slavers above are going to be here for the long haul. While I'm still confident that they can't get into the bunker at the moment, it is more likely the longer they are here."

"Why do you think they attacked the rail city?"

Closing her eyes Jessica thought of some of the people she knew in the city and experienced a sickening sense of dread. Taking a deep breath she said "I can only speculate on why. There have been rumors that other cities on the wasteland have signed deals with the sky cities for protection. It is possible Old Rail City did not want to play ball, and they sent these scums to knock some sense into them."

"You really think they were dispatched by the Sky Cities?"

"I do. No normal slavers or raiders have the amount of gear these guys have. Not only that, the previous day I saw Papa Bright had contact with a person from one of the Sky City. I had assumed it was a direct slave dealing, but maybe that was his contact."

"That's not good. Your right, it's only a matter of time before they get in here. I know your friends have got the door secured down, but if they start bringing down sky tech..." Nikki trailed off.

"Which makes it imperative that we get out of here before they full lock down the area. I want to leave tonight."

"How are we going to achieve that? If you weren't looking, there is currently an army camped up above us" Nikki said sarcastically. "For all you know if we had just opened the door earlier, we would have been able to fight our way out. Jacob wouldn't have had to lose his dick."

"Nikki, I did what I believed was best at the time."

"You always do what you think is best! You never listen to me." Nikki said angrily.

"I'm sorry Nikki. I'm just doing what I can."

Sighing Nikki said "So what do we need to do?"

"We need a distraction. There is no way we can fight through all of those slavers without one. What I have in mind is to shut off the Sonic Fence. There is a bunch of mutants outside the fence. Once I shut it down, they will swarm the assholes, giving us time to get away."

"How are you going to achieve that?"

"The sonic fence can be turned off remotely. I had been working to connect the control to the old radio in the security room. I stopped because I ran out of parts to do it." Jessica looked at Blaze and asked "Do you think you can look at the device and see if you can get it up and running?"

Blaze waved a tendril saying it was up for the job.

Nikki said "That might work for the short term, but I don't see the slavers dying to those mutants. What will we do if they start tracking us down?"

"I want to take one of their vehicles. If we disable the majority of them, we will get a large headstart. If we leave this region, I don't think they will pursue us any further."

"Do you even know how to drive?"

"No, but how hard can it be, if they can do it?"

"What about the slaves and Jacob?"

"I can't help the city, but we can set the slaves in the cage free. They could take the other vehicles, make it harder for the slavers to hunt us down. As for Jacob, I don't know if we can get him. If we get the chance, I will get him okay?"

"Fine."

"We also need to get out of here soon, because I think they are investigating a way to open the facility below us."

When Jessica said that, the blobs all freaked out. They were waving tendrils about as if they were screaming in terror. "Calm down you guys. From their reaction seeing that freaky thing in there it makes me want to be nowhere near here when they open it up."

"I don't like them, but maybe we should notify them?"

"I don't think they will listen to us."

Nikki looked down at the still shivering blobs and asked "Do you know what that black cube, or the black creature is?"

Skye nodded and made several motions Jessica didn't understand. At that time all the blobs began to perform the same motion, and Jessica felt they were saying it was an enemy. "Are you saying those are your enemy?"

Waving affirmative Glass seemed to say it was a downright dangerous foe. Nikki said "Great, I hope it kills all the slavers then. I just hope it doesn't travel far and start hurting other cities."

"Before we go, I need you to start making packs for us. Get as much food and water as you can get into them. When they are battling the mutants, I will activate the back exit. Hopefully, the battle will muffle its noise. Blaze you got your job for the moment. You three take a look around the bunker and look for anything that will aid our escape."

They headed back up, Nikki began to fill two packs. Jessica went to the bunk room and filled a pack with some old clothes for the trip ahead. She left it near Nikki, and walked into the security room. Blaze was working hard on the radio and carry out several modifications.

Looking at the monitors, she found the creepy black cube was no longer where it had been. Jessica was a bit alarmed at that. The Creepy black slime skeleton was still staring up into the camera. Panning out with the overhead camera, she saw a bunch of mutants prowling around the edge of the sonic fence.

The cage of Slaves had been moved to the backyard, and inside Jessica could see that Doctor Melissa was attending to some bleeding slaves. The number of them had jumped up to at least ten. Several vehicles were also parked in the backyard, and she began to look at the one that would be the most suitable for her to take.

Jessica pulled out an ancient map and began to make plans for where they would need to head to next. According to some travellers she met in the Rail City there was another city about five hundred miles to the east. To the north was a rad zone they would have to go around. To the south was the mutant forests. To the great west was the expanse of wasteland.

"East it is."

Jessica stood and went to check on Nikki, she found her having finished the packing and was now getting dressed in a old combat uniform. "We will survive this okay?" Jessica hugged her sister. Nikki hugged her back.

She went around looking for the three other blobs. Skye was ripping parts out of a wall and was dissolving them into its body. She discovered Glass down next to the fusion plant hooked up to it. Jessica could see arc electricity shooting through Glass. When Glass pulled away, she asked "Are you alright Glass?"

Glass waved that it was, and she went to check on Daisy. Daisy was at the computer working on it, and thousands of images were flashing across the screen. Seeing they were all working hard, she came back into the security room and found Blaze had succeeded.

"How did it go Blaze?"

The red blob waved excitedly and pointed at two switches. The first one it waved as if to say that this one would shut down the sonic fence. "So what does this switch do?"

It waved its tendril as if to say it would send out a sonic wave. To do what she couldn't tell. Seeing everything was ready to go she got everyone together again. "We are ready. When it gets dark, and they go to bed, I'm going to deactivate the barrier."

They sat in silence for the next hour or so, before Jessica went back to the security room and looked at the overhead view. She found the slavers had mostly gone to sleep. To the south she could see a lit up vehicle parked next to an crumbling abandoned shack. She frowned this was the car that was mostly likely searching for the facility entrance.

Nikki came up to her and said "Ready?"

Nodding, Jessica flicked the switch that shut down the barrier, then the one that sent out the sonic wave. A deafening screech came from outside picked up by the speakers. Some of the guards looked around for the source of noise. They were startled when dozens of the mutant lizards dashed out from the darkness and began to invade the camp.

Sounds of gunfire and fighting, came over the speaker. Jessica swiftly went to the back exit and activated the device to start digging a route upwards. The drill was loud, almost unbearable to be near. The bar said it would take five minutes to reach the surface.

They got all the gear ready, and the blobs all lined up ready to go. "Stick near me. I will go for the cage then we will snatch one of the vehicles." Jessica said as she cocked her rifle. She made certain the power level for the gun was set to the lowest setting.

Large explosions began to happen overhead as the slavers were starting to fight back. When the device registered, it had breached the surface; it expanded the sealed off part and allows them inside. Climbing quickly she popped her head above ground and found the slavers were in an intense fight.

There were at least over a hundred of those mutant lizards. That sonic wave must have drawn more over here. Pulling herself out, she dashed over to the cage. Daisy followed and Jessica said "Open the cage quickly Daisy." The yellow blob began dissolving the lock.

"Is that you, Jessica?" Doctor Melissa said.

"Yeah it's me doc. We are making a break for it." Jessica said, Nikki came up behind her.

"Have you seen Jacob?"

Doctor Melissa shook her head. "He's in the house."

The door popped ajar and the people inside rushed out. Some fled out into the darkness while others attempted hijacking the vehicles. "Come on doc we need to get out of here before they notice we are escaping." Jessica grabbed the Doctors hand and began to haul her towards the vehicles.

Nikki looked at the house hesitating and Jessica said "We don't have time Nikki."

Before Jessica could say anything else there was a massive explosion to the south of the house. She felt a violent thump go through her body. A bad feeling rose in her body. "Shit we need to go now! I think they just breached the facility."

"You girls ain't going anywhere!"

Startled she looked over and found Papa Bright was holding a gun right at them. Jacob was standing next to him, made up to look like a girl. "Put down your gun and get in that cage."

Weighing her options Jessica was about to lower her gun, when space seems to twist about her. Feeling sick she heard an odd hum coming from above. Glancing up she was startled to see the black cube was descending towards them. Papa Bright said "What the fuck?" He brandished his gun at it and fired.

When it was struck, there was a flash of red and Papa bright screamed as he was lifted up and brought towards the cube. As he connected with the cube, he began to dissolve and disappear screeching in pain. Skye grabbed onto Jessica and began to jerk her towards the vehicles.

Jacob started to laugh hysterically as he too was started to be pulled into the air. "NO!" Nikki shouted and tried to pull Jacob down.

Jessica yelled "Let him go! We need to get out of here!"

Nikki pulled out the pistol and fired a blindingly hot shot at the black cube. The cube shuddered, and Jacob fell to the ground. A flash of red light went over Nikki, then the cube started to spin faster and faster.

Before Nikki could move the cube opened in an impossible way. She began to struggle as the cube held a red light on her. From within a dark red crystal fell out and Nikki began screaming as her arm was forced upwards and the crystal seemed to enter her palm.

Shaking free of Skye Jessica ran to her sister. "Nikki!"

Her sister pushed Jessica back and said "Oh god, Jessica get out of here, I can feel it in my mind. It's so angry. Its taking control of..." Nikki voice changed to a deeper feminine voice "Finally I have discovered a suitable body." Nikki stood and began to look over her body.

"What did you do to my sister?" Jessica said.

Nikki looked up. "So you were the one the I felt, I had thought we had executed all of them. Regardless, I will simply carry out the job."

"Fuck you. Get out of my sister."

Nikki laughed and said "No. Don't worry, I will take care of this body."

The Black cube came to her side and shrunk down, and attached to her chest. As it did so black slime began to pour out it. Soon it concealed her body in a thick suit of black slime. Nikki stretched out her now covered arms and said "Ah I forgot how good this feels. Now I have to deal with you."
