‘With the shitty rate of 50xp/week I will need around 5 years to breakthrough to QI Condensation! While I will make the 25 year old deadline…5 years is too long. One of the only other avenues for xp available to me now is the annual competition for outer disciples around the corner. That should give me a sizeable chunk of xp. Another method is if some other Qi gathering Disciple challenges me to a non-lethal duel. That retard Zhen Ji didn’t bother me anymore since last time and my reputation is too fearsome for most people to willingly challenge me. I need to find some way to make people challenge me.’
‘For the past one month, I have been trying to form the 1st seal by performing the ensemble…but I haven’t been progressing too much. Although I can perform each of the 9 moves with ease…my ensemble lacks something crucial…a rhythm. Perhaps wearing encumbering armor while attempting to form an ensemble is making me off rhythm? And my Qi is quite pathetic to attempt a full ensemble smoothly. I guess I will not have the Qi issue if I breakthrough to Qi Gathering along with some higher quality pills…or drink truckloads of spirit wine! Perhaps I should give one last attempt!’
A glint of reckless abandon flashed in his eyes as he entered his cottage. He hastily disrobed and fully unequipped his armor. With most of his skin being covered by armor, and with minimal exposure to sunlight he looked like a buttery yellow ball of lard in a loin cloth. The spirit wine he had received for the past couple of weeks was especially potent. Since he wasn’t progressing too well in the 1st ensemble of the Divine Vajra Body Scripture and was loath to waste it for some minor Spirit/Qi boosts, he had managed to save one full jug of it despite the usual embezzlement.
He retrieved his treasured jug of wine from his cultivation room and hesitated for a bit before his eyes glinted as he thought, ‘Since this will be a huge gamble…I might as well go all in!’ He stripped himself of his loincloth and retrieved a bulging bag as he proudly marched naked into his court yard. He sat cross legged on the grass and kept the jug on one side and the melon sized bag on the other. The bag contained around 500 fasting pills, his entire savings from the past one year! He was preparing to attempt the first ensemble with all the resources at his disposal. He then promptly got up took the bag of pills and the wine inside his cottage.

Outside the courtyard an unseen coal black young man with shoulder length mane of white hair felt relief when Fang Hao withdrew into his cottage. ‘I thought this fatty was going to do something rash. He is probably at a bottleneck of sorts and wanted to forcibly breakthrough. But consuming all that spirit wine, which is quite potent even to mid Qi Condensation disciples, can lead to severe consequences. And why in the heavens was he naked? Is he a pervert too? Seems like Brother Zhu has picked someone eccentric like him as his disciple.’ The coal-black young man mused as his invisible figure rippled and disappeared.
Meanwhile, inside the cottage Fang Hao was taking a relaxing shower. Well a simulated shower as he had to splash his head with mugs of water. ‘While determination is good and all…there is no point in being rash and restless before attempting something this big. I should properly relax before trying.’ thought Fang Hao as he hummed the chants of the Divine Vajra Body Scripture to himself while he took a poor man’s simulated shower. Once he felt refreshed and relaxed, he took a long satisfying nap. It was way past midnight and he was in an ideal condition to attempt a breakthrough despite being a bit hungry. But then again, these days…he was always hungry to a certain degree.
Fang Hao dried himself and exited his cottage in his birthday suit proudly with the spirit wine and bag of fasting pills. He was determined to go all in and breakthrough to form the first seal of the Divine Vajra Body Scripture. He sat down cross-legged and took a sip of spirit wine as he started chanting the Divine Vajra Body Scripture in his mind while humming the tune subconsciously. He took a couple of more sips till he was reasonably tipsy, yet strangely his humming and mental chanting was becoming more fluid and melodious.
A significant amount of Qi was aggregating in his Dantian. He subconsciously felt that if he drank half a dozen gulps of the spirit wine and cultivated the Sublime Qi Manual now…there was at least one in three chance of reaching Qi Condensation. But he brushed the thought aside, the chants and humming of the Divine Vajra Body Scripture sounded somehow different from before. Every verse, corresponding to one step, seamlessly blended into the next. He was no longer trying to follow the sequence of the moves from the 1st to the 9th in order previously. Instead, in his drunken haze he jumbled up the order and kept on chanting till he found the “best” rhythm.
He took a few more sips of the potent spirit wine and surges of Qi were bellowing in his dantian. Fang Hao started circulating his Qi in sync with the mental chanting and humming. After a while and a few gulps of spirit wine, Fang Hao started moving according to the steps of the Divine Vajra Body Scripture. The turbidity of the Qi in his dantian rapidly reduced as it spread of its own volition into his fleshly body, strengthening it. To anyone observing it would look like a drunken dance with some humming in the background. A naked fatty with a jug of wine was continuously drinking and dancing under the moonlight, with the tempo of his movements gradually increasing.
