Memory I, Part 2 : The Alignment

After the Severance, the original world was divided into 3 "worlds" (lands), The Underworld, The Lingering World and The Overworld. These 3 lands were forever separating and distancing themselves from each other more and more. Because of the Severance, The World created by Blanc and Ket had fallen into chaos and the "Balance" of that World was lost.

This imbalance caused unnatural casualties to appear everywhere around the lands. That deadly substance later known known as "Unholy retribution" was a deadly gas that could bring about instantaneous death to whatever was exposed to it.

It spread to the waters, which were starting to fill the "gap" of the 3 lands, and polluted the oceans. Now this murky water was impure and toxic. Nothing or noone could ever stand a chance against this substance. Not even the Gods themselves. It was like an emptiness that could instantly suck out the lifeforce of living beings and even obliterate lifeless matter (except for Hydrogen and Oxygen).

The reason for this lost "Balance" wasn't just the act of the Severance itself. The most important reason why the balance was lost was the hatred among the gods. (Specifically between the 2 original ones).

Blanc and Ket are the embodiment of the Universe's will. They are the Universe. They are the "World". For them to be fighting and hating each other means that the "World" itself is having an internal conflict.

After the Severance, it was impossible to see each other's faces again. From the moment they all "parted ways" and ever after they were by themselves. Even if they wanted to reunite, it'd be impossible to leave one's own land and travel to another. (Due to the destructive gas that couldn't be dealt with)

The years passed and the 3 "worlds" had separated greatly. The distance they had was immense. Blanc and Ket had created a new home for themselves in their respective lands. Blanc and ket had become very different. Not only was their character different, but they had also developed different powers, as we'll see later.

What both of them did have in common however was that they built cities where they spent most of their time in. Blanc had built a grand city named Saintdom, that thrived of luxury, elegance and beauty.

Ket had build a more reserved city, but in an extraordinary location that allowed for many facilities. It had great view from above the hill it was build and had easy access to both wood, water and ores from the mines beneath the city. The name of his city was Wargram.

They both admired their creations and took pride in them. They lived the rest of their lives in their respective cities all alone.

Even though it seemed that the 2 gods were on the same page, that was not the truth at all. Blanc saw ket as inferior and thus she enjoyed her life alone, without having any regrets. She believed that she did nothing wrong and that Ket was all to blame.

On the other hand, Ket, despite being mad at Blanc for her egotistical behavior and the misunderstandings she created, was starting to take Blanc's words seriously. "Are you messed up in the head?!". "I'll try to fix what he's done!" "It was all his fault!"

Combined with his mistake of hitting Aima in the eye from his anger, he was starting to become overwhelmed by his regrets. He realized that he was indeed the one who proposed the plan, and probably the only one that felt this way (loneliness) in the first place. (that's not true but these are his thoughts)

It was his idea to try and impress Aima, too... Everything was seemingly pointing towards him. When he realized that, he had actually become really depressed. In comparison to Blanc, he was starting to hate his life being alone. He wanted to do something. And that was to apologize...

More and more years passed however, but he was unable to do so. The age of the Gods was almost over. Blanc and Ket had lived for about 10 millennia. Time brings an end to everything, even the Gods.

The end was nigh and Blanc· accepted it gladly. She covered herself in her wings (Phoenix form) and she released them when her life was over. The moment she died, 4 transparent, light purple pieces of her wings were left behind. These parts of her wings were later known as Angelic Veils. From the Godly Essence that was left behind from her death, 100 beings were also born. These beings were later known as the first Lingerians.

Blanc being mentioned here first doesn't mean that she was the first one of the 3 gods to have descendants. The first ones appeared a couple of thousand years ago, by the Created Goddess.

From her blood that had spilled on the edge of the Overworld, 100 beings were born. These beings were the very first Humans, that Humanity nowadays doesn't even know they existed. The Created Goddess, with all of her strength gone, couldn't inherit anything to her descendants. Even if she was able to do that, however, she'd prefer not to. She in fact wanted everything in that world to die and hated her creation even more. Aima gave "birth" to these 100 beings unwillingly. It was only the natural way of things for that to happen.

In comparison to Aima, Blanc wanted her descendants to have some sort of power. She wanted them to be strong so that they could match or even surpass Ket's future descendants. Consequently, the Angelic Veils that the Lingerians Inherited weren't granted to them randomly, but there was a solid intent behind it all.

In his latest days, Ket would refuse to die if he hadn't apologized to Blanc first. He had decided to try whatever method he could think of to apologize. He sacrificed a large portion of his Godly power and he turned it into the ability to teleport.

It took him some time to master that ability and be actually able to use it, but in the end he had finally found a way to talk to Blanc and apologize. He focused his thought and travelled his mind through the vast deadly Oceans.

At last, he set foot in the Lingering World. When he arrived there, he was not welcomed by Blanc, but by a group of 100 human-like beings. Ket had arrived late, indeed. Blanc had accepted her end and had fulfilled her goals in life. Therefore, her end came sooner than Ket's who still had an unfinished goal. Not only that, but Blanc's descendants didn't welcome Ket in a friendly way. Witnessing a room-sized phoenix that appeared out of nowhere, the first Lingerians saw him as an enemy.

Ket felt extremely sad, as he looked at Blanc's offspring from above. He was not only unable to apologize, but also forced to embark in a fight with the Lingerians. Of course and he didn't want to do that. He tried to communicate with them at first, but they wouldn't listen to him.

He then tried to teleport back to the Underworld, but the Lingerians started attacking him. No technological advancements were made by them and still· they presented a decent force. The powers of the Angelic Veils were utilized to their limits in order to fend off that "monstrosity".

Ket, who didn't want to kill them, just pushed them back and injured them. He didn't use his slightest potential. He just wanted to survive and return to the Underworld. This battle that lasted a few days ended with the first Lingerians victorious and was known as the War of the Worlds. The ending was just an act executed perfectly by Ket. He pretended to be dead, only for them to celebrate their victory and give him a chance to escape.

When he returned to the Underworld, his depression was all the more apparent. He started hating himself for what he did, and as he couldn't apologize, he decided to do the unthinkable. He sacrificed every last bit of his power in order to punish himself eternally. He cast aside all of his power and stored it inside 4 personal items he was obsessed with, His Scepter, his shield, his book and lastly his pendant.

Each of these items were given one part of his strength, similar to the Angelic Veils. His plan however, was not to just strip himself of all power. Sacrificing his wings as well, he used this power to transform the Pendant that had the power of swiftness and agility into a different kind of power. A power that he didn't use to gain something out of, as it only served as punishment. He created the Pendant of Immortality. A pendant that made the bearer immortal.

Ket thought that being unable to die, thus living an eternal struggle, would account for his past sins. (He believed that dying would be an easy solution)

Inside an enormous church he had built centuries ago, he put himself inside a giant tomb. He left all of his belongings that each had a part of his godly power aside and wore only the Pendant of Immortality. In this way, even if he decided one day to break free, he'd be unable to do so, as he wouldn't even have the power to escape from the tomb.

Holding his pendant with his hand, he said his last words before closing the tomb shut.

"May this be my eternal condemnation"

His body remained in the same state for centuries. With the Pendant of Immortality he was unable to die, so he lived an unending self-brought tragedy. What he didn't take into account however was that his soul didn't have the same fate. This emptiness in Ket's soul was starting to erode and destroy it bit by bit. Even though his body didn't have the slightest sign of wear, similarly to his pendant, after a thousand years his soul had undergone so much pain that it was about to be destroyed.

His soul reacted to that erosion, and it finally left his body in order to avoid its destruction. When that happened, his body, even with the power of immortality, soon perished.

Similarly to Aima's case, it was the natural way of things that his Godly Essence would give birth to 100 beings that were called the first Demons.

These beings found the 4 items, inside of which were Ket's Powers, fragments of his own soul, the now widely known, Dark Essence. The four of these human-like beings that inherited the corresponding abilities were called Demonic Lords.

The irony in Ket's decision was that by wanting to pay for his so called sins, he had actually committed a sin anew. This Past Sin revolved around the now lost equality of the Two Gods and therefore the Universe itself.

When he transformed his power of agility and swiftness into that of Immortality, he defied the principles of the Universe. The Universe obeys to the laws of balance and symmetry. The two gods that represent the Universe were born equal. They had balance and symmetry.

When Ket defied that symmetrical balance by making himself different in both beliefs (not accepting the natural way of things by wanting to experience eternal struggle) and especially powers (having the power of immortality instead of agility, having no wings, etc.) the nature itself reacted to that change.

It caused his descendants that acquired a fraction of his "cursed" power to be unable to have offspring. Nature denounced those beings that had the same powers as the Sinful Ket and it took away their reproductive ability.

With Ket's death, the era of the Gods was officially over. The beings born from them multiplied and developed societies. Even though Humans had lived for more than 2000 years when the First Lingerians were born, their evolution and technological advancements were a hundred times slower than that of the other 2 races. Since they didn't have neither Demonic Items nor Angelic Veils to use as stepping stones in order to advance, they represented and underdeveloped society.

The Lingerians were able to utilize the powers Blanc had left for them. They advanced really quickly and soon surpassed the Humans in every aspect of evolution. The Demons were born about a thousand years after the first lingerians, but they would advance with seemingly equal or even a bit faster speed than that of the Lingerians.

Not only were they able to utilize the powers Ket had unintentionally left for them, but since the Underworld was a lot smaller in size than the Lingering World, the Demons were able to adapt faster, with more ease. They didn't spend much time exploring the land as it wasn't that much to begin with. What's more, they were a lot more united than the Lingerians, which made their society to develop more quickly, more healthily and allow for steady advancements and evolution.

Societies were built by each race. They developed farms, languages, religions, and even some sort of basic education. They had invented survival tools such as bows, iron spears and fishing poles. Each race was very distinct and its people were united. The only race to form an actual army was the Lingerians. This race wasn't as united as the other 2 and they had a few unnecessary battles between themselves here and there.

——————————————————————————

Even though the Gods were all absent from the world, their souls didn't actually die alongside them. If they did, then the universe itself would die, as they are its embodiment. The soul of each God was connected to the land they occupied before dying.

Blanc's soul was connected to the Lingering World, Ket's soul was connected to the Underworld and lastly Aima's soul was connected to the Overworld.

As I mentioned earlier, the 3 "worlds" (*lands), the Underworld, the Lingering World and the Overworld were moving away from each other. Their distance was becoming longer and longer. Moreover, the waters that separated them were polluted by the murky gas, which made it impossible to travel from one land to the next.

Although it lasted for a long time, this state of the "worlds" was not perpetual. With the passage of many centuries, things were about to change. Surprisingly for the better.

The 3 gods were not alive in the world but their souls did exist. They still represented their will, even after their death. The 3 gods had actually developed feelings of forgiveness for one another. After so many years, they had left behind their past differences, hatred, anger and hostility. They wanted to reunite. Like the old days.

Their souls had that distinct will of reunion. They wanted to be together again... And so, that will made the lands that were constantly separating, to approach each other. They approached each other slowly but surely. Their will was absolute. It was the will of the very Gods, indeed.

But as the lands were scattered around in random directions, in order to reunite they first needed to align. This event that lasted 100 years was called The Alignment.

After the Alignment was complete, the hatred of the Gods was gone, and the world was starting to repair itself. The "Unseen Retribution" disappeared, and the waters became clean again. It was time for them to start approaching in order to finally become one. In order for that to happen, however, many many years had to pass. Therefore, a good number of events took place before they were ever close to converging.

Many eras of peace and war, construction and decomposition, life and death.
