Chapter 4 : Golems, Golems Everywhere

Ding!

You have been revived.

There is no level and item penalty because of your current level

Satiety and Thirst are also unavailable until you reach level 10

Later that night, Raka logged in right after the server opened. Maya’s server will only open at 21.00 PM until 5.00 AM. 8 hours play time a day was considered enough. Everything was to prevent people from neglecting their jobs and/or schools.

The gear could adjust the body into the deep sleep condition while playing. They would wake up the next day feeling refreshed.

This way, everyone could play while getting the sleep their body needed.

Ragna looked at his surrounding. He was revived into the same place where he arrived yesterday. Looks like there was no lucky coincidence such as reviving in a town.

He opened his inventory, seeing the empty screen before him, he sighed heavily.

He didn’t spend his day idling around. He opened Skynet, the improved version of Internet. This technology was the prelude of everything, including the VRMMORPG. By harnessing its speed, Maya could operate with no less than a millisecond delay. Imagine the amount of data one would have to transmit while playing the game.

In the Skynet, he checked all the forums about Maya. By doing so, he found some information about the game, including his unprecedented overly high stats.

He found out that even though the innate stats may only have a difference of 1 or 2 stat points, but those points will somewhat affect the future development of the characters. How it would happen was still a mystery.

Then, he also understood how other players were faring to the game. The leveling system was a bit hard. On the first day, none had reached level 5. The highest was level 3.

Players had to kill a bunch of rabbits and slime at their current level, but obviously, they wouldn’t do that barehandedly.

There was an NPC who would give you all the basic items and weapons just by listening to him teaching all sorts of basic things.

Of course, he whom never even met the NPC, would never get the basic items.

Closing his inventory, Ragna followed the same path he went yesterday. When he arrived at the yellow temple, he felt the same feeling as before.

He frowned, his instinct was never this strong before. It seemed that he really had to explore the temple.

After a few steps, he met the golem. Still in the same position. Standing guard in silence with a dim colored gem in its eyes.

Ragna clenched his fist. He knew he had to try and fight the golem. Worse come to worse, he could just run away.

Yesterday he was scared, that’s why he stumbled and let the golem killed him.

He stepped forward. The gems in the golem’s eyes brightened, the rune on its body flashed.

“INTRUDER !” the golem shouted. It ran towards Ragna, brandishing its fist.

Ragna gritted his teeth, he observed the movement of the golem. He was waiting for the right moment. His eyes showing a high level of concentration.

The golem was closing into Ragna at a noticeable speed. It lifted its right fist and punched towards Ragna.

Ragna was already prepared for the punch. He knew he had to dodge. He sidestepped to the golem’s left side, its fist only brushed his shoulder.

Ragna felt a bit pain. He knew he had taken some damage. But now, the most important thing was that he had to counterattack.

He stabilized his footing, he focused all his strength into his fist. Then, he punched toward the golem’s left ribs.

He trembled. His fist was overflowing with pain. It felt like hitting a steel. Even though the pain was somewhat lessened, it was still enough to make him frown.

Ragna knew that he wasn’t supposed to pay attention the pain. The important thing was the golem. How many damage did my strike deal?

Unfortunately, what Ragna saw next was too harsh for him.

-1

“What the..?” Ragna was dumbfounded when he saw the red number in front of him. It seemed that reality poured another a bucket of cold water to him.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

The golem didn’t just wait for him. It swung his left hand. Trying to swipe Ragna with its arm.

Ragna came into his sense. He racked his brain for the way to dodge to strike. It would be an instant death if he got a clean hit from that.

He quickly jumped backward. The sudden movement caused him to stumble. But, he quickly got up, preparing his stance.

He observed the golem’s health bar. It didn’t even budge. Its health must be around 200 or more.

Then, Ragna observed his own health. It was missing 30 points. 20 points from the golem’s punch and 10 points from his own punch.

After seeing it, Ragna knew what happened.

'This golem was never meant to be defeated. I have to run.'

A punch from it could instakill him. A slight brush from its punch could deplete 20% of his health. And the most unbelievable thing was that he would get hurt from punching him. Even an idiot would know that there was no way anyone could kill it.

He turned his body, focusing all his strength to his legs. He started to run like a madman.

The golem chased after him. Its speed was slightly faster than Ragna. Ragna knew he had to juke the golem. He made a slight stop to fool the golem into punching him, then he avoided the punch and continue to run.

The tactic was to maintain a certain space between them. He used the terrain to his advantage. Even though there was only one path, it could serve as a tool in Ragna’s hand.

Ragna sidestepped, jumped, and ran in a zigzag motion. Surprisingly, it could shake the golem. The golem never landed a hit on Ragna.

Ragna was known as a clever man. No ordinary person could have used the path as a mean to dodge the golem. Of course, some part of it was also thanks to his nimbleness.

Unfortunately, after running for a dozens or so seconds, Ragna met another golem in front of him…

“DAAAAMNNN, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS PLACE?!”

Ragna blamed his bad luck. Just how many lives did he screw in his past life for him to deserve something like this?

The golem welcomed him with his punch. It was a straight punch towards his torso.

Ragna concentrated. He knew that he had to exert himself to survive in this place.

He quickly found the trajectory of the punch. After careful consideration, he chose the best way to avoid the punch, by sliding.

He slid through the legs of the golem, barely avoiding the punch by a hair’s breadth. looks like he had managed to barely preserve his puny life.

Panting, Ragna continued to ran without looking back. He knew he had to utilize every second that he has.

Ragna silently prayed to God. He barely survived with just one golem. Of course, he wouldn’t stand a chance being chased by two of them.

After a few seconds of running, he found the answer that God had given him.

'Oh God ………………..'

He saw another golem blocking the path in front of him, two of them.

Ragna looked back, he found that two of the past golems were closing on him real fast. Then, he looked at the scene in his front, the golems which were blocking the way started moving.

He stopped running. He racked his brain for any possible solution to the impending danger. He closed his eyes, trying to feel everything that his eyes couldn't perceive.

Suddenly, he opened his eyes. His eyes were calm but full of resoluteness.

'This is the only way'

He smiled, he squatted down until his butt reached the floor. He hugged both of his knees. Finally, he sunk his face inside the space created between his knees and chest.

The legendary move, Curling in Despair !

BANG BANG BANG BANG !!

Ragna was beaten to death from all four sides.

Ding!

You have died

You are restricted from logging in before the next instance open

Time till the restriction lifted : 23 Hours 15 Minutes

Raka laughed bitterly after opening the helmet. He knew he had bad luck, but it shouldn’t be this bad. He got his helmet for free yet he couldn’t do anything with it.

May as well not give me anything, He thought.

He shook his head and sighed heavily. That night would be another sleepless night for him.
