Chapter 12 : Blood Sentinel
Ragna slowly walked toward the huge platform. While walking at the passage, he could feel his scalp go numb from the pressure. From the looks of it, the giant ape which was sealed inside the statue was terrifyingly strong.
'I wonder what kind of person the Blood Master is, to be able to seal such a strong monster'
When Ragna reached the platform, he didn't approach the statue right away. He needed to take a good look at the platform first to find a strategy.
The platform was huge, it was about the size of two basketball fields, except that it was square sized. Ragna tried to look for anything that could help him, sadly he couldn't find any.
He saw the abyss surrounding the platform. He knew that he would instantly die if he were to fall. There was nowhere to run.
Ragna took a deep breath while slowly walking at the statue. His eyes radiating resoluteness.
No tricks, just a plain fight!
Bring it on!
Ragna stopped when he was near the statue. He knew that it was about to awake.
Sure enough, the statue trembled heavily. The ground shook. The statue was starting to be covered in red lines, which soon turned into cracks!
Ragna quietly charged his skill. He couldn't do a surprise attack because he didn't know anything about his opponent. He had to wait.
Slowly the cracks became more visible, revealing the beast inside. Its eyes were starting to radiate a bright red color!
"GRRRROAARRRR!"
The giant ape was fully awake by now!
The giant ape had a silver fur with a bit of red luster. Its eyes were blood red, clearly showing its savageness. Its arm was huge, enough to pulverize a human with a single slam. It stood up while staring at Ragna below him. It was clear that it didn't have any good intention toward him.
Raka felt a huge pressure coming from the giant ape. He could see the name above its head.
Blood Sentinel : Red Eyed Giant Ape.
Type : Boss | Tier : ???
Level : ???
Suddenly, red lights descended toward the ape. It seemed to encompass its entire body. The ape let out a shrill cry, it seemed that the lights were restricting its power.
All of a sudden, the ape's information screen changed.
Blood Sentinel : Red Eyed Giant Ape.
Type : Boss | Tier : ???
Level : 1
Ragna heaved a sigh of relief. He knew that not being able to see the boss' level meant that his level wasn't high enough. It seemed that this place could really match the difficulty with the challenger.
The bridge like passage behind him suddenly crumbled, he knew that it was the signal for the start of the battle.
Ragna ran toward the ape, he jumped by using its feet as a platform. By using the momentum, he slammed his skill into the giant ape's right knee.
"GRRRAAAAAA"
The giant ape shrieked. It was truly enraged by now. His disturbed slumber, the red lights which constrict it, and Ragna's Mana Strike, it all had raised its anger to an unprecedented level.
Ragna couldn't even bother to pay it any attention. He was currently in the air because of the recoil. He quickly somersaulted, using his fall momentum to throw another punch to its leg.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
The barrage of punch didn't end there, he ran toward its heel. He threw another Mana Strike, trying to somewhat damage it's tendon. After following it with few punches, he quickly retreated.
Sure enough, a palm came smashing into the place where he stood before. The palm carried a terrifying force. It's hard to believe that this boss was actually only level one.
Ragna felt a shiver down his spine, he knew that he would be instantly killed if that palm was able to connect.
Ragna retreated into a certain distance from the giant ape. If he was too near, then he couldn't even react to its attack. And if it was too far, he would spend too much time closing in the distance after he found the opening.
The ape let out another howl. It punched out a fist at Ragna. The punch was akin to a moving train.
Ragna quickly dodged to the side. He saw that the punch made the wind a bit chaotic. Even the wind it generated could blow Ragna away if he wasn't prepared.
He grabbed its hand and climbed over it. He was trying to run at the ape's arm. Obviously, the ape wouldn't let him do as he pleased. It quickly swiped its arm abruptly in an attempt to shake Ragna.
Ragna quickly jumped before the ape could even start swiping. He was trying to fool the ape!
While the ape was busy shaking its own arm, Ragna was already on his way to another part of its body. His real target was again its right knee!
Mana Strike!
The ape shrieked! It was unable to understand how it could be fooled by a mere human. If it was in its peak state, its breath was enough to obliterate him.
Unfortunately, the red lights constricted its power to the extreme. There wasn't enough room for ability when you were only level one.
Ragna kept doing the strategy for a few times. The giant ape slowly became annoyed. Ragna's movement was too unpredictable for it
Of course, the giant ape wouldn't let Ragna keep doing the same strategy over and over. After Raka threw his third combination of attacks and was about to retreat, the giant ape retreated back too!
It knew that by keeping the right distance, it could gain quite an advantage by relying on its long and thick arms.
Strangely, Ragna didn't move backward at all. He kept moving forward as if he knew that the ape was going to retreat backward.
Ragna had predicted its move!
Because the ape was retreating, it couldn't set up any guard. Obviously, the element of surprise had a part in this success.
Ragna threw another Mana Strike at the giant ape, because of the combination of the momentum, the ape was thrown far away to the border of the platform!
Ragna clicked his tongue, that strike should've been enough to throw the monster off the platform. It seemed that the giant ape wasn't that shallow after all.
"GRRROAAARRR" the giant ape was furious. It didn't expect to be fooled again and again. It charged madly toward Ragna while madly swinging its arm.
The arm was moving at an indescribable rate. It was akin to a violent whirlwind.
Ragna sensed an intense amount of danger coming from the ape. Of course, he didn't panic. Panicking wouldn't help, right?
He moved toward the side, his target was the platform edge in his side. He ran swiftly to be able to not get caught by the ape's attack.
The whirlwind like ape followed closely behind. It seemed quite happy seeing Ragna trapped at the edge with no way out.
Ragna didn't even move an inch from that spot at the edge. He looked a bit flustered because he had nowhere to run to.
The ape started to swing its arm more fiercely. It was looking forward to seeing Ragna getting blasted away by its huge steel-like arms.
But strangely, right when the ape's attack was about to hit him, Ragna closed his eyes!
What was he going to do?!
