Floor 1 HIllside Part1

HIs eyes opened to a spinning, disorienting world.  Colors and sounds mixed together in a myriad of sensation.  The swirling chaos of colors and sensation came to a head, a sense of calm swept over him.  He was no one, nobody, and nothing, he was falling, and everything stopped.  Clarity swept over him.

He was laying in a bed, that was odd, because the last thing he remembered was playing kh2.5 on his couch.  His bed was was comfortable. if a bit hard.  The shoe had yet to drop, he couldn't put his finger on it.  He was in his boxers and with a shirt on, check.  He really didn't remember putting on pants today.  Then he noticed something as his vision came into focus. Small globes of light lit the room revealing a large log cabin instead of lightbulbs.

Let's say his name was Nobody and he didn't remember falling asleep in any log cabin.  He hadn't been drinking, he knew that much.  This place smelled like cedar, so it wasn't one of those artificial log cabins either.

Tossing the covers off the bed, he decided to have a look around.  Reaching out, he brushed a hand across the rough wooden logs that made up the wall.  The logs were a hard wood so whoever owns this place must have a lot of money.  Walking along the wall, he saw a portrait of a grey-haired man with a goatee and a monocle.  A vanity protraite kind of said it all.  Something down the hall got his attention.

“Welcome to Dungeon of Dreams.  I’m Claudia your safe zone NPC, if you bring me a,” He jumped and turned around his fight or flight instinct activated.

Trait acquired:  Transdemensional +10INT

“Shut up bitch, did I say you could talk.”  When his ears locked on the noise, he spotted three men in orange jumpsuits fucking a tall blonde-haired woman.  The site was so out of the norm that his mind froze on the spot.

The one currently gagging the NPC turned to him.  “Yo, the name's Jarome Mile.  There are about a hundred of us popping up every couple of weeks.  This bitch was about to blabber on about how you need to kill monsters and get experience.  RPG shit.  The door out of here is down the hall.  Don’t let it hit you on the way out.”  The giant black man said.

Tears were falling from the NPC’s eyes, as she chocked on the man's dick.  “What about her?”  He asked.

“What’s your name?”  Jarome asked.  He thought quickly and was reminded of one of his favorite westerns.

“My name is Nobody.”  Nobody said, while flashing his blue eyes at the man.

“Lay off the guy Jarome.  Listen here Nobody.  Normally, if someone tried something funny like that we would add your holes to our little gang bang.  Fortunately, for you we have all we need right here.  Get out of here.”  Nobody was feeling rather agreeable.  He wasn’t in any shape to fight off three legit thugs.  Not to mention it was just an NPC.  The title of NPC  hovered over the girl’s head as proof.

“Oh, and in case you get any ideas.  Once you leave the safe house you can’t come back.”  Nobody nodded and walked through the doorway.

Momentarily, he was blinded by the light.  HIs vision slowly cleared, he was in a grassy meadow surrounded by grassy hills and a multitude of pop up.

                Welcome to floor 1 Hillside

System    Message

“You must be confused.  I wish I could explain everything in a single message, but I feel it would be better to feed you bits and pieces  to ensure you climb my dungeon.   My world is in danger from a  creature called a Titan.

I have tasked you and the others to grow strong and travel through my dungeon.  If you train diligently and take every quest possible, I’m sure you will gain strength far surpassing my own.  It was my hope this world makes all of you powerful.  Perhaps, strong enough to defeat the Titan.

I hand crafted this world in hopes that it will keep you vested in your training.  Journey North to the town of beginnings there are any number of NPCs in the town willing to train adventurers.  Choose any job you desire and train diligently.”

From the Creator

It finally happened.  He had watched too many anime and was driving him insane. In his mind’s eye, he could see red and blue for health and mana.  Yes, he could do this.  In the back of his mind he wondered if he was in a padded room somewhere.  First he needed to kill monster, then he needed to choose a build, and finally he needed to find a good place to grind.

Good bye boring normal world and hello adventures, monsters, and princesses.  He looked back to see the door he had just walked through.  It stood there in defiance of what he was told.

It was then, that he realized something truly horrible.  There was no mini map.  He had no way to find where north was.  The sun couldn’t be trusted, heck there were two of them.

Don’t panic, he could still do this.  Beads of sweat began to fall down his face as he thought for a few moments.  Taking the direction the door was facing in consideration. Nobody headed the opposite direction.

Why did he choose the opposite direction? Because that’s normally where the secret stuff was.  The door more than likely faced north.  So, if he went the opposite direction, he would hit something more interesting.  So, he traveled in the direction he thought was south.

Nobody wanted to level grind and get a jump on his competition.  All he had to do was get lucky.  Kill a powerful creature with a trap or something and get a few levels quick and easy.  That was the plan, whether things turn out that way or not was immaterial.

Later, Nobody was climbing a windy hill and spotted a rat in the grass.  It was large yellow and had seven eyes. The creature scurried about looking around for predators.  It continuously turned its head listening.

Monster

Grass Rat lv5

He brushed away the message and ran forward.  The creature squeaked just as Nobody kicked it in the throat. It was more like a punt.  The rat felt like a heavy socker ball.  It lifted off the ground and squeaked.

Kicked target damage -20HP

He followed up jumping and landing on the monster.  Blood shot out of the poor animals mouth as its guts were mushed.

Stomped target damage -50

                Internal bleeding Target damage -20

Target Grass Rat defeated.

He picked up the rat and had a pop up.  It asked him if he wanted to put it in his inventory or not, and of course he said yes.  Who didn’t want a monster in their inventory?

He picked up a rock and threw it.  The rock sailed through the air and hit a nearby tree.

                New skill acquired:  Throw

                Throw lv1 +2DEX +1STR

Would you like to know how skills work?  Y/N

                Nobody hit yes.

                Skills:

Description:  Actions taken that are repeatable and can be improved upon.  There are no known limits to the level skills can reach, though on the first floor they cap at 10.  Skills can be combined with other skills to create fusions of two or more skills.  Multiple skills can belong to a skill tree and other have specific spells that are empowered by them.  Example Mystic Blade Mastery every multiple of 12 will grant the user a spell that can only be used with this skill.  By merging skills and spells the user has an endless number of possible combinations to choose from for battle.

He rubbed at his head thinking about how best to capitalize on this discovery.  Surely, the throwing skill could level up quickly.  But what other skills could he get.

Picking up a few rocks, he started tossing them in the air and catching them.  A large rabbit leapt from its burrow and headbutted him in the solar plexus.  It happened so fast that all he could do was fall over and start rolling down the hill he was climbing.

Every few rotations he could see the rabbit get closer to him.

Damage taken -15HP out of breath.

He had collected a new rock every chance he could on the way.  Nobody had 32 in his inventory currently.  With no other skill, he started chunking them at the rodent.

The rabbit was a quick devil.  It jumped around getting closer for another blow to the chest.  After a few more throws, Nobody threw himself to the side as the rabbit passed by.

                New Skill Acquired: Dodge lv1

                Dodge lv1 New Attribute +3AGL

With the new attribute he felt a little faster on his feet.  He dashed to the side as the rabbit continued its onslaught.  Every rock missed until Nobody was down to his last ten rocks.

He felt his body rack itself with pain over the new lv.  It was like being reborn.  His muscles hardened uncontrollably and his control over his body increased.  Still it wasn’t enough to catch the rabbit.  Nobody targeted it.

                Blitz Rabbit lv10

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Anything with blitz in the name was fast on its feet that fact that he could dodge it at all was a miracle.  Holding a rock, he had an idea.

He let the rabbit line up for another head but, while he dodged, he took his rock and smashed the creature’s face.

                Target damage -10HP

Nobody grabbed one of the creature’s ears and threw it on the ground.  He then proceeded to stomp it to death.  Once dead, he put the rabbit in his inventory.

There was no new level.  His throw skill was slightly higher than it was before, though not quite a new level.

                New location: Cave of Skeletons

Why was there a dungeon inside of a dungeon?  This area of the grassland was dead.  Black soil covered the area and a Skeleton was beginning to stand up.  It was unarmed, and it walked very slowly.

                Basic Skeleton lv2

He held one of his trusty rocks and chunked it at the skeleton.  Nailing it on the head had caused it to lose balance and fall over.  Nobody ran up to it and started to chunk rocks at the thing while it was still on the ground.

                Target stunned -10HP

                Target damaged -20HP

                Target slain

There was no new level up but at least he killed one.  There was something shiny on the skeleton’s waste.  It was a key ring with a single key.  Nobody picked it up and felt the breeze rise his boxers and his stomach growled.

He picked up his rocks and sighed.  Nothing he could do.  He had nothing to skin the animals with or fire to cook the meat.  If only he had his flint lighter on him.

Nobody looked down at the rock and targeted it.

                Common Item: Flint Rock

It still didn’t matter, he needed kindling.  Maybe going to the village was a better idea than going off alone now that he thought about it.

Most adventurers would have already gained their first job and learned how to channel the elements.  Besides the guys back at the safe house, Nobody is the weakest of the lot right now.

He unlocked the door to the cave and walked in.

                New Trait acquired: Trailblazer +5AGL

Bending down to a crotch he began to slowly travel through the cave mindful of where he stepped.

                New skill acquired: Sneak lv1

                Sneak lv1 +1AGL +3DEX

When he reached the end of the tunnel he spotted another skeleton and targeted it.

                Skeletal Warrior lv15

Nobody immediately stepped back from the creature until his back touched the cold stone of the cave wall.  He remained in sneak mode and opened his status.

                Sneak lv1 26% next level

                passive

Description: Helps the user remain undetected.  A common skill among Rogues, Rangers, Thieves, Mystic assassins, and Ninjas.

Effect: +10% remain undetected in sneak mode per skill level.  +1AGL, +3DEX per skill level.

Alright sneak was a badass skill.  Nobody watched the skill slowly increase until he received a lv up.

                Sneak lv2 +1AGL +3DEX

Just like that, he felt himself become  faster and far more in control of his body.  He peaked around the wall and noticed the warrior’s back was turned.  A smile crept across his face.

He crept behind the skeletal warrior and stood there.  The Warrior didn’t pay him any mind.  It didn’t’ know he was there. Exallent, he could use this.  If the creature wanted to be his his escort, the he wouldn't stop it.

Nobody had a good look at the the warrior’s gear.  It had a heavy looking axe on its side in a leather looped holster.  On its chest was a leather vest, on its legs leather grieves, and on its feet leather boots.  This skeleton didn’t have a helmet.

The skeletal warrior stepped forward on a predetermined path.  Nobody in his boxer shorts and a t-shirt followed behind the warrior.  He made sure to match the creature step for step.  If something happened, he could always turn tail and run for the door.

Once they reached the next turn in the cave he saw two skeletal archers, a skeletal mage and four more skeletal warriors.  Nobody decided to turn tail and walk back slowly.  There was no rush, he needed to increase his skills.

                Sneak lv3 +1AGL +3DEX

He had a 30% increase to sneak mode in a single trip through the cave.  This was easy and more than likely a boot was going to drop soon.

What Nobody didn’t know was the cave was home to multiple high-level skeletons, his sneak mode was leveling because he remained undetected among all of them.

The next time he followed the skeletal warrior to the next room, he noticed a few barrels.  They were to the side and more than close enough to get to.  When the skeletal warrior turned Nobody ducked behind it and snuck behind the barrels.  From there he watched the skeletons make their rounds.

A song began to play in the back ground.  It was steady and continuous with long bouts of bells.  It took him a minute to realize it was his BGM.  The music began to play when he reached this part of the cave.

He turned around and spotted a small book shelf.  The books in question were fortunately in English.  Perhaps it was the dungeon creators doing.  He steadily approached the shelf mindful of the skeletons.

The first book he pulled was red.

    System Message:

Red Magic for Dummies is an initiate level book that teaches the fire shot spell an instant spell meant to cause intense damage. Only those with a natural Mana type of Red can learn this skill.  To obtain this natural mana type you must master your original mana type then branch over to another.

Alright, so he wouldn’t learn anything from the red book.  He tossed it in his inventory for a later date.  The next book was purple.

System Message:

So, you want to rule the world is a initiate level book that teaches the spell Mind Crush an two verse spell for Purple mana users.  This book is currently unavailable to you.

Just like the first he tossed it in his inventory for a later read.  He got the point.  He could only learn blue mana style magic.  Luckily there was a blue book on the shelf.

System Message:

Traps for Fools a charming initiate level spell book that teaches the fine art of runic arrays and basic magic traps.  This book on magical traps is perfect for a young blue magic user who wants to manipulate a battle field.

requirement: 20INT, Blue mana

Would you like to Learn Traps for Fools Y/N

He barely made the requirement.  After hitting Y.  He was assaulted with knowledge of runes and how to fit them together to make traps.  The entire halve a second it took to learn from the book was the most condenscending moment of his life.  He was sucked into a pocket demension and forced to mentally copy notes from a blackboard.

New skill

Magical Trap Mastery lv1 +4INT

New Array Acquired: Electric Trap

After his mind stopped spinning from the new information he found another problem.  He needed something to write with to make the traps.  Without clear and concise runes, he was sure to fail.

He decided to improvise.  Instead of moping about because of a lack of materials, he instead decided to make use of his flint rocks.  If he scratched the floors and made his traps, they should still work.

While in sneak mode, he began to practice making the trap on the barrel.  It wasn’t difficult.  The Electric Trap was the beginner array.  It had five steps.  Gather mana, Store mana, Convert to Electricity, detect foreign mana, and Discharge it was a simple set of five symbols in a circle.  By his clock it would take about 20s to scratch them.

                Sneak lv4 +1AGL +3DEX

He took the level up the second he left his cover.  The skeletal warrior was already turned around and heading towards the end.  Nobody had little time.  He counted out the time it took the skeleton to reach the other end of the tunnel and turn around.  It took exactly 25s, if he was lucky, he would be done with five to spare.

The skeleton was just turning around when he finished.  Nobody moved slowly away his undetected was flashing yellow and back to green as he moved.  The skeletal warrior was turning its head trying to find something.

When Nobody turned around the wall, it flicked back to green.  He slowly made his way back behind the barrel and waited.  He listened to the leather boots of the skeleton warrior make its way back.  Every step made Nobody more nervous.

Something clicked in Nobody’s mind then sparks of electricity began to shoot everywhere.  The other skeletons ran from their normal patterns to investigate.

                Magical Trap Mastery lv2 +4INT

His familiarity with the array slowly increased.  He didn’t gain any new runes, but he felt that his array would be stronger.  Nobody also knew that a circle drawn around his array would increase the power of his traps.

                Sneak lv5 +1AGL +3DEX

Nobody let out a breath, he wasn’t in any danger.  The skeletal warrior got back on its feet and the other skeletons departed back to their rounds.

Nobody drew another trap on his barrel and circled it.  The action took 18s.  He was sure this new one would be more than enough to take the skeleton down.  Something caught his eye before he moved to finish the skeletal warrior off.  On a desk near the skeletal mage, he saw a bottle of ink and a quill not to mention a roll of paper.

When the skeletal warrior next approached the larger room, Nobody followed it back.  He memorized the creature’s pattern and with his high-level sneak there was little threat of the creature attacking him.  He followed it back to the cave entrance and began to draw the trap except for the mana absorbing rune.  Nobody had to thank his high intelligence for his master plan.

He followed the skeleton and made the traps all over the tunnel.  Then on the last walk back to the cave entrance he finished them all and stepped behind the skeletal warrior.  He moved next to the cave entrance when it happened.

Blue sparks of electricity shot up everywhere and the skeleton warrior shrieked and stepped on another trap.

The mage arrived first raised its staff and all the traps vanished.  It then shot three black balls of magic at him.  Just when the black balls of death would have hit him in the face he leapt away.  Dodge had just saved his life.  An arrow flew out of nowhere and hit Nobody in the left shoulder.  Nobody screamed in pain and ran out of the cave.  Another arrow caught him in the leg just below the knee.  He managed to open the door and shut it just as the warrior slammed into it.

                You have been shot -50HP

You have been shot again -20HP

The door shut behind him and he fell down behind it.  Fortunately, the skeleton he had just beaten was still dead.  He had no idea what respawn times where here.

Nobody had 5HP left.  He had gotten cocky with his traps and paid the price for it.  The skeleton’s may be set in their ways but that didn’t mean they couldn’t be crafty.  That skeleton mage knew dispel.  That wasn’t good what low-level mage knew dispel.

Little did Nobody know the skeletal mage didn’t in fact know dispel.  It was a passive ability all skeletal mages had that negated low level magic traps.  Many magic based creatures had it.  In most magic jobs it was a common skill.

Nobody had an arrow in his shoulder.  He stared at it and grabbed the shaft. His high dexterity transferred to a massive HP regen.   In ten seconds he had 23HP back.  He calmed himself down and ripped the arrow out in one go.  The shaft came away.  Sweat covered his face as the wound slowly healed itself.

The one on his leg was another matter.  He reached down and tugged on it.  The thing wouldn’t come out.

For everyone there was a time to cut losses and throw in the towel.  He wasn’t at a high enough level to conquer this place, he didn’t even have to tools to do the job.  It was time to head to the village and do quests.

Nobody hobbled his way north.  He needed to get to the village and treat his leg.  He also needed a job.
