Floor 1 Hillside part 4

He had to move quickly.

A fledgling got up one less heart. Stabbing one in the heart merely stunned it. Nobody tossed a fire bomb to finish her. After the fiery explosion, he pulled out his paint brush.

Nobody rubbed at his face. Dark shook him, that’s why the whole place was covered in bombs.

The fledglings wanted in, much like cats. They would get in eventually. He didn’t want to be here when they did.

He ran a finger over his dagger cutting his finger. Flint rocks made great wet stones.

Amateur surgeon lv2 +4INT

To buy some time, he piled the pews against the door. He needed time to get some cover and for the traps to gather mana.

New skill Siege Arts lv1 +3WIS

Finally, a wisdom skill, things were looking up. Looking at the rubble of pews shaking didn’t change that.

Behind the dais was a set of stairs that hopefully would end at a prison. Alone, he was no match for a master vampire. With a party of adventurers, it was in the air.

After opening a very thick door a fledgling leapt at him. Dodge activated, and he plunged his dagger into the vampire’s heart. It froze, and Nobody wrenched his dagger free and stabbed the vampire in the neck.

He cut both arteries and watched the creature grab its neck. “Mana Pulse.” Nobody called sending the creature sprawling back. The fledgling smacked into a cage and white hands latched onto the creature.

A woman with raven black hair and red eyes ripped off the creature’s head and pulled its stump in. The woman was naked and covered in old blood. Crimson liquid flowed over her body as she struggled to get more of the creature’s life essence in her mouth.

Nobody stepped into the room. The woman gave him little attention. He glanced over at the other cells. A larger cage held a series of prisoners. All deceased. They were the adventurers who made it to the village. All of them were drained dry. Even their natural recovery couldn’t protect them from the hungers of a vampire.

“I’m sorry, I was too late to save you.” One of these corpses could have been him.

“Hello, I’m Nora thanks for the food. I’m guessing, you locked the door to keep Dark out.” The vampire said. Nobody tossed one of his firebombs in the cage with the dead adventurers. It was better that a necromancer didn’t disturb their rest. “Hey what are you doing that for?” The vampire shouted and covered her face.

“I’m helping them rest. What happened here?” Nobody asked the vampire.

“Well you know we earthlings were taken from our homes to this place. What you don’t know, is that more than just humans came here. Ever read any of those trashy vampire novels or maybe one of the classics like Stroker.” Nobody raised an eyebrow. “I’m a bit of both of those tall blue eyed and scary. When I revealed that fact to the goth guy, I thought, I had made a useful adventuring pal. I mean why not turn him and have a friend for life. How was I to know he would go mad with power and be all, I’m going to make my own city of the damned and devour the sun?” Nobody rubbed his temples.

“Maybe anyone. It makes too much sense for it not to have happened that way. Your still an undead demon in human skin out for blood. I don’t know if I can let your out of here.” A sad smile graced her lips.

“I know and that’s why I turned the duffus. To humans I’m a monster. Talking with you is pointless. Burn me and get it over with.”

“Did you really think that would work?” Nobody said.

“Can’t blame a girl for trying. I mean, oh burn me and get it over with, you big bad vampire hunter. Oh, no don’t take me on the wall, Uh, Uh, no don’t take my 100 years’ worth of virginity.” The bodies were spewing smoke. It had a stink like nothing he had smelled before and Nora was already covering her nose.

“Can you at least let me out of here and away from the burning corpses. It smells horrid, I’m going to need like ten showers.” Nobody took a step around the cage maintaining his distance from the bars. There were runes all over the bars.

“I surmise the runes are what keeps you contained. Vampires are said to be far stronger than a normal human. The leveling system must increase that to ludicrous levels.” Nobody said.

“Smart, yea these little scripts keep me from bending the bars. Any pressure capable of bending them is met with an intense electrical shock. You’re a smart guy, any knowledge of runes? You look the type. If you help me out, I will make it worth your while.” Nora said.

Nobody glanced over the runes and spotted the triggers. He memorized the pressure and number runes for later.

Over the next few minutes, he glanced over the runes. Thankfully, she shut up, so he could think. Taking out his knife he scratched away the output runes. With no output runes the energy had nowhere to flow.

“Thanks, but why free me. I could easily turn on you.” Nora said. The black-haired girl was tall and powerful. Her slender hands wrapped around the bars and bent them.

“I’m dead anyway, if Dark gets in.”

“I see. I would have killed any vampire I saw not of my blood or sworn to me. What’s to stop me from killing you here?” A smile spread across her face revealing a mouth full of dagger like fangs. She glowed with dark power. The shadows began to swirl around the room taking on demonic shapes.

Nobody narrowed his eyes and held up a handful of firebombs. She vanished from his sight and placed a hand under his and nuzzled his neck. He felt her breath on his ear.

“Don’t worry, I want my vengeance on my stupid little fledgling. You freed me and for that, I’m thankful. Would you like to be a vampire?” She asked.

“No,” It was tempting. He could boost his physical stats by the levels he already had. It would be like gaining a bunch of new skills and gaining a bunch of instant levels in them. He had placed enough traps to see one whispering in his ear.

“Too bad, you seem fun. So scary and serious, I like it. In exchange for letting me out I will give you a gift of information. There is another set of stairs to a sewer that leads out of here. Its infested with high level monsters. Good luck. Don’t come back here.” He targeted her.

Nora Vampire Noblewoman lv50

“You said you were always a vampire, right?” She raised an eyebrow.

“Next time we meet, I want you to tell me about the world we came from. There seems to be a lot I don’t know.” She smiled her eyes glowing red.

“If you grow so strong, then maybe we will talk.” She placed a hand on her hip and stretched. He couldn’t help but see her lower lips reveal themselves. Her small breasts bounced as she moved. Her shadow cupped Nobody’s face and he could feel it’s touch on his chin.

“We will see each other again. When we do, I will relieve you of ignorance. For now, leave and…” A massive explosion rocked the area above us. “What was that just now?” She asked shocked.

When the rumbling stopped Nora opened the door. “It seems the ceiling collapsed. So, we have only one exit left, the sewers.” Nora stripped what clothes she could from the decapitated fledgling in the floor.

“What ugly clothes. So humiliating. If one of my sisters saw me dressed like this, they would gossip.” She tied her hair back with a strip of cloth ripped from one of the pants legs. She was still covered in blood and looked like a thing from nightmares. With no light in the room he took one of her ice cold hands.

“Well it could be worse, you could be naked.” Nobody said.

“If only, fighting naked is respectable, so long as it serves a purpose.” Nobody raised a brow and smiled. “Flashing my rescuer is different. You mammals often get gratification from this form. If we had time, I would have rewarded your thoroughly. Unfortunately, Dark didn’t die in that explosion and we are in a bad position. Were you going to warn me about your bombs on the first floor?” She asked.

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

Nobody started to sweat when she glared at him. “It slipped my mind.” Her mouth opened and closed.

“Well it’s a good thing Dark triggered them then. I would have hated to have died from my savior’s idiocy.” Nora said.

“Are there any other supernatural creatures in our world?” Nobody asked, hoping to Segway away from the topic of his idiocy.

“Sure, werewolves, the occasional Demon, and warlocks. Before you ask, the reason why no one knows, is the politicians. We have been using them to cover our tracks for generations. After making an example of JFK everyone fell in line.” Wait JFK. She saw his face and laughed. “I’m joking, we’re just careful. We buy blood and clean up after our kills. Targets are picked out and often we abduct people from countries with less police.” Nobody shivered thinking about all the poor people these vampires abduct for food.

“At least you’re not raising a population for consumption.” She blinked at him a few times.

“That’s a great idea, I can’t believe I never thought about it. When we get out of here, I know what I’m going to do.” She said. He saw a line of drool fall from her mouth. He shivered involuntarily again.

They turned a corner and entered a lit room.

You have entered a special zone all xp +25%

They crawled through a massive pipe and came out in a room filled with green slimes. Nobody targeted one.

Sewer Slime lv15

“Hey what’s your name. I never asked.” Nora said.

“Its Nobody.” He said.

“Like the western… cool.” Nobody equipped his dagger and ran at the slimes. “These guys don’t really give me much xp anymore, so I’m leaving them to you.”

He took out a firebomb about to make them explode when her hand stopped his. “There is enough methane gas under here to destroy the city. Let’s not kill ourselves by firebomb ok.” He nodded and leapt into the fray.

Keeping his knife close to his body for short concise cuts he used Mana Pulse. A large circular explosion of mana shot from his body picking up the slimes and slamming them across the ground. One of the slimes exploded giving him a series of job level ups.

Another two mana pulses brought his level to 7.

From that point on he could create a dagger mid battle and use his throwing skill to deliver rapid fire weapons. Blue mana formed slender throwing knives in his hands and he threw them at the slimes’ cores. After gaining another level, the xp dropped off.

“An impressive skill. Let’s go to the next area.” Nora said. Nobody nodded, and they walked through another sewer pipe and came upon moss covered zombies. After targeting them he found they were only slightly stronger than the slimes.

Sewer Zombie lv17

They shambled around rotting and utterly slow. A smile covered his face. A spear appeared in his hand. It seemed to stretch the skill to the absolute limit, it formed half the size he envisioned. “Don’t you hate when that happens.” Nora said.

“Shut up I’m trying to aim my spear.” The zombies turned their heads to his location and began to shamble in his direction. He threw one then the other. Each spear veered off the mark. It wasn’t his throw skill he realized it was him. He was a couch potato turned adventurer. All the skills in the world couldn’t compensate for experience.

Let the spears return to mana particles and decided to make something a bit more familiar. Fire arms were out, he had little understanding of how to make combustible mana.

Instead, he formed a recurve bow and fired an arrow or tried to. The string wouldn’t move. That was the flaw in mana constructs at least at his level. They were hard like diamonds but didn’t have the flexibility needed to make a string or a decent spear. He would have to resort to simpler arms until he leveled his skill enough to compensate.

Holding his spear firmly, he let the zombies get in close and used mana pulse. Once they were down and disoriented he used the spear to stab them through the head for criticals.

“Your intelligence does you well. Most humans would struggle to change tactics with a horde of zombies charging them. Its human nature to run when something’s chasing you. Good for you.”

Nobody bowed his head and began to pour over a 1000MP into a spell. There was so much mana flowing through his mind, he felt like he could pop at any moment. Something began to creep into his mind. It slid in like sludge, slow, deliberate, and greasy. The consciousness was thick and alien to his own. It recoiled and bounced off the heavy mana walls protecting his fragile mind.

He had to make a form for the creature and send it forth. If he didn’t, then it would find a crack in his defenses and rip his mind apart. In his mind he pictured a metallic figure. The force took advantage of his mana arms and built itself a fragile shell at Nobody’s expense.

A shiny Golem made of hardened blue mana stood facing him.

Warning this entity has constructed itself with mana. To gain a body with more substance it must consume the necessary materials. Be wary of it.

“Tell me Sentinel are you my master?” The golem asked. Its voice was heavily metallic but held a feminine tone.

Shadows leapt from the ground and wrapped around the golem holding it in place. “Nobody, you should be more careful. Look at her arm.” He looked down to see his golem was sporting a hidden blade.

“You may not attack me nor my allies. Go hunt and gather materials to strengthen your body.” Nobody said.

“You have to give me a name. Otherwise, I will have no place in this world. And any experience will be mine and not yours.” Nobody had just the name in mind for her.

“Your name is Salome FM Bitchtron. Now go, get out of my sight.” The shadows released the golem and it ran off down a corridor.

“That was a mistake. She will try her best to kill you.” Nora said. “You may have just fucked the dog with that one.”

“I just stuffed a fire trap up its ass and set it off in a shelter. But she can’t be trusted.” She also didn’t see him add a little something to her design when she was forming.

They made it to the last room of the sewer. There was a rumbling sound just before a massive roach dropped from the ceiling.

Edgar Mad Roach lv35

The roach had three heads with ugly misshapen mandibles. It glowed a sickly orange color and constantly turned its heads. Many smaller orange glowing roaches fell off its body and began to rush at us.

He made a blue war hammer and handed it off to Nora. She took it with both hands and tossed it back to him. “Its too heavy the hammer is more likely to swing me than the other way around. Give me a mace if you want me to have a weapon.” He took the suggestion and handed her a mace and dispersed the Warhammer.

Nobody made a few daggers and tossed them at the boss monster. It contorted its body to dodge the attack. The smaller roaches were already at his feet, so he was forced to defend with Mana Pulse. The roaches were flung away. He continued throwing knives as Nora’s shadows rose up and slashed through the smaller roaches. The Mad Roach dove in the shadows to escape the shadows.

Throw lv10 +1STR +2DEX

He was spamming spears and throwing them at the roach. It was large enough that a little variance in accuracy didn’t matter. They hadn’t scratched the creature yet. It continued to spew roaches on the ground and dodged their attacks.

“This thing is so annoying. Don’t you have anything useful like ice shard or some other mage type spell?” Nora asked. With every spear he altered the form of his weapon making them barbed, longer, and spiraling. His spears cut through the air and slammed into the walls.

Despite the level cap it felt like he was getting better at the throwing skill. The mad roach opened its maw and spew forth a cloud of acid. Nora shrieked when the acid hit her. Her face began to bubble, and skin fell way revealing pink muscle underneath. Small black tentacles swirled under her flesh.

He formed a hazmat suit out of mana arms. He had to make the suit out of a type of chainmail to grant himself some flexibility and it didn’t breathe. He ran forward and dodged one of the creature’s scythe like legs. A black streak leapt over his shoulder and smashed the creature.

Nora was blinded and smashing her mace through the creature’s shell. Guts oozed out of the creature as Nora made paste out of it in her blind fit. The creature died, and he reached 11 in Sentinel.

A treasure chest formed in the center of the room. It opened and spewed weapons, armor, gold, and potions on the ground. He picked a red healing potion from the ground and poured it on Nora’s face.

“Thank you.” She said.

They divided the loot in their inventories and walked out of the sewers. The tall walls of the village were behind them.

“I have to go slay some goblins. Want to come with me?” He asked. Nora nodded her head and they traveled east towards the goblin camps.
