School Again

Edward contemplated his options. There was no way he was going to be able to do Gene Ascension. The technology of this world was too low. He also didn’t know if he would be able to survive long enough to consider his options.

Judging by the fact that he also didn’t see his sister or him wearing robes nor could he feel the thing called Qi in the air. Then this was probably not a cultivation world.

‘How could a genius like me not be able to detect qi?’

And there was no way this was a world filled with mages, if so. Then Beast Tamers would definitely not exist or be this high in society. Mages were cruel people who would do anything for the sake of knowledge. Human cruelty is not beneath them.

All his thinking was interrupted as there came a knocking on the door. Followed by it being forcefully opened. This sister of his didn’t even bother if he allowed her in or not.

“Edward, I brought you your breakfast!”

“Let me feed you.”

Seeing what was happening, Edward shivered. He had to lower her affection. He wasn’t stupid, from what the System’s Remark told him about her. She probably had some sort of admirers that she didn’t realize or care about, and if he actually got too deeply involved with her, he would probably end up dying by those random admirers of hers.

“It’s okay, I can eat by myself.”

She gave him a blank look. It was the look of one who couldn’t believe what she just heard. As if by instinct she grabbed the metallic spoon and force-fed him the porridge, completely ignoring what Edward said earlier.

‘God damn it!’

‘The life of being a harem protagonist is too hard.’

“Eat up, Edward, we gotta get ready for school.”

After being force-fed by Annie, he was dragged to a carriage with her. The school they went to was prestigious. There were many children with influential parents in the school. Each of them was studying to be a great general or be part of the political system.

Exiting the mansion, he realized they were pretty stacked. This was the biggest house he had ever lived in. Not only that but there are countless attendants. Each one cleaning the house and serving the masters.

Annie and Edward were led into a royal carriage by the family’s guard. The horses neatly galloped across the cobblestone streets. Countless vendors and merchants were advertising their wares at passersby.

‘The technology of this world seems to be a bit more advanced compared to Medieval Europe.’

Edward compared the technology, just based on the fact that he had a working very modern toilet in the mansion. One can only imagine how Edward would fare in a place with a toilet system that barely worked. The economy also seemed to be very prosperous, as merchants and vendors advertised their wares to pedestrians who were walking by. There weren’t famine, diseases, or any sign of poverty yet.

‘The kingdom seems to be in a good situation right now. There might be a slum in the kingdom, but judging from the normal residents it shouldn’t be too much of the population.’

‘It’s not too bad.’

Being inside the carriage felt very nice but his sister was seated next to him instead of the opposite seat. Making him feel very claustrophobic. There were clearly plenty of seats. Why did she insist on sitting next to him?

The ‘school’ that they arrived at was quite large. It was basically an enlarged castle. The red spires of the castle pierced the clouds. The castle was built with different minerals. Giving it a rough texture. Inside the castle was different, marble covered the floor and rooms were made out of wood.

“Edward, hurry up.”

“I know you hate math, but you can’t keep dawdling.”

“I’m trying my best.”

It’s not that Edward wanted to be slow, it's just this negative 25% debuff made him constantly exhausted. He could barely walk for a few minutes before he needed to catch his breath. He seriously needed to get stronger, this body was too weak.

He had already thought about the path he was going to take. Although it was risky for most, with his vast amount of knowledge about this world. It should be relatively easy for him to take.

The path of the Cultists. The path of the Cultists dealt with the higher beings who ruled the Main World. They were Gods, Demon Lords, Gene Ascendants, Immortals, Magus, and many others. Many mistake cultists as just followers of Demon Lords, but this is a misconception caused by many higher beings finding it beneath them to talk to mortals. Not only do they not gain much benefit from it, they also find it a waste of time.

It was different for Demon Lords though, they gain more power by corrupting and influencing mortals. So they spread their name and incantations around. Making it so cultists can only make dealings with them. The reason why they were so disliked by Gods is mainly because they liked to corrupt believers, fanatics, and devotees of Gods. Not only do they gain a kick out of it, but they also gain more strength for corrupting such a pure belief.

So the Gods and Demon Lords were always against each other's throats.

Luckily for Edward, he had knowledge about the many true names of Gods, Demon Lords, and other beings. It would be quite easy for him to make contact with them. And he also had a lot of information that could be of interest to them.

As Edward reached the door of his math class, he was heavily panting. Desperately trying to catch his breath. Standing outside the door, he heard his sister bickering with another woman.

“Where’s Edward?”

“Why do you care about him so much, Silvia?”

“Everyone knows about his health, clearly you don’t take enough care of him.”

“What did you say?”

His busty sister was arguing with another woman, she had blonde hair with blue eyes. Seeing the situation, Edward felt the approaching migraine. Although the life of a harem protagonist might sound good to many, Edward hated the concept of it. His belief is that a man should only be true and faithful to one person.

Not only that, but his life would be in danger because of the women who were interested in him. It seems like this was a regular occurrence as the classmates ignored their bickering, many male students even sent envious gazes at him. Edward didn’t even know why so many women were interested in this body, to be honest, although he looked a bit handsome, he looked more of a sick patient than a dashing and charming young man.

As Edward took a random seat, the seats around him were slowly filled with women who tried to make small talk with him. Edward in the middle was dying slowly inside. He didn’t even know who they were, so he pretended he had a headache, it was best not to say anything or reveal anything, the more he said the more he would reveal himself.
