Getting up, I dust my robes off, annoyed.
As I felt the adrenaline fade away, it weirdly didn’t hurt as much as I expected, I suppose the noble folk don't do much exercise.
Well, the next thing on my to-do list is to write up that report about the layout of the mana core. Which means I need to go into my dorm, grab the quill and notebook and head to the library, after which figure out how the hell I’m supposed to use a quill.
You know, the idiots could've at least found a better spot to meet up, if I’m supposed to meet those nincompoops every day to be beaten up, then at least don't make it a place that is half an hour away from the dorms. Well, it’s not like I can just tell them to change the location as I am being beaten up.
Making it to my dorm, I walk in and grab my stuff. As I am walking out I hear Ustos fidgeting in his chair and screaming into his gag. *sigh why is this man such an idiot. I walk up to him and give him my harshest slap yet, definitely not because I’m letting out my frustrations on him. Of course, he shuts up, and I make sure to give him a good threat before heading out to the library.
The library is separate from the academy's main building, but it is basically right next to it. Walking inside I find a small line in front of a booth, next to the booth there is a sign that says ”If you are a first-timer, please pick up a library pass.” so I join the line. After a while of waiting and a couple of disgusted glares, which I have started to get used to, still it is hard for me to handle being slandered by these lesser creatures, yet I still hold with my iron determination.
Walking up to the counter, the clerk glares at me with a disgusted face because of course he does, who the hell even is this guy, he's definitely not a noble because he works a clerk job, oh whatever, why do I bother caring about these bottom feeders.
The clerk asks me “Is there anything I can help you with?”.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
“I’m here t-to get my library pass.”.
“Ah– you seem to be a first-year student, first years get a free library pass, but don’t lose it, it will cost you money to replace.”.
“I will need your soul-bound necklace to create a library pass.”.
After giving him the necklace he placed it into the same magic item the doorman had with him but this time it has a hole on the bottom. Eventually, it popped out a metal-looking tag out of the bottom of it. The worker handed me the tag and told me “This is a first-year tag it will only let you access a small part of the library, when you become a second year you will need to return to redo it.’.
Entering into the actual library part of the library, I find it quite satisfying, there are many books stacked on shelves nicely and there is peace and quiet.
All right, I am tasked with writing a report about the layout of the mana core, so I suppose my great self better start searching for some good books.
After looking for a while, I find a book called “The functions and layout of the mana core by Daniel Remington”.
Looking through it, I find the gist of what I want to write down, the only problem being the lack of luster writing options. Whatever I will need to learn it eventually so why not now.
The only real thing I know about quills is that you need a slanted table to write on it and it’s easier to do downward strokes.
I spend my time practicing and it's hard and annoying, and will probably take me a while to learn. But I still need to write the report for tomorrow, so I need someone that can use a quill to write… damn it.
Checking out with the book I head to the dorms, where I will find the idiot that can use a quill.
I entered the apartment and set everything up. I place a table in front of Ustos and place the notebook and quill on it. I untie one of his hands and tell him what is going to happen.
“I tell you the words, and you write them down, and if you do something else, I will find out and I will punish you for it. So don’t be an idiot Ustos, you understand?”.
Ustos started nodding his head and we commenced. I told him what he should write down sentence by sentence, and we slowly chipped through it all.
After reading through it all several times I find nothing suspicious, it’s all as I wanted, I guess no skinning for today. But still, I can't risk doing this for a long time, after a while of doing this something might get past my great attention and the sneak-in will all be ruined. I need to learn how to use that damned quill.
