Chapter Seventeen

This guy just then walked over to Jessica. He held his arm onto the locker and stood in a casual position, then he just started chatting with her. Jessica didn’t seem to be annoyed by him at all. Instead they just walked to classes together.

Skye and I sneaked outside the classroom door. The teacher began the lecture already. I saw the handsome guy’s lips moving as he was about to whisper something. I immediately closed my eyes and let my subconscious focused onto my ears. The faint words became clearer and clearer.

“… The dance is coming up… Do you have any plans for that day?”

“Skye, come up with something, he’s gonna ask her to the dance in thirty seconds.” i desperately needed something to interrupt their conversations.

Skye looked around and saw her target. It was the classroom backdoor. It was half open, and Skye pulled it open completely. But of course nobody noticed that; they were too immersed in the things they were doing behind the teacher’s back. Then Skye kicked the door shut. It flew closed with a loud bang, almost knocking it off its hinges. A few girls screamed weakly to that sound, and the teacher was trying to reassure everyone and persuade them that it’s just the wind.

“Wow Skye. That was smart.”

“Well won’t delay them for long, you need to think of a way to ask her before that dude does.”

“How, I can’t just show my face and go up to her.”

“Write a letter then!”

“What? A love letter? How do you even write that?”

“Just ask her to the dance!”

“That would seem so not-sincere, and looks like a prank!”

“Then what? Write a love poem?”

I contemplated for a few seconds.

“Actually Skye, a poem would be a good idea. A sonnet.”

“Wow, and you can finish that in thirty minutes before the class ends?”

“You can help me. And love is my guiding star.”

“Still no way you can do it. Don’t forget the pentameter.”

Oh no. I should just leave out the pentameter. Point is to write this in thirty minutes and race back to the camp without being discovered. I should write the first four lines. Just create the mood, bring Jessica into it, so she would continue reading.

Doused with the faint white veil of the moonlight,

Interlocked with our words, the two hearts link.

The beauty and serenity of night

Transposes forever into a blink.

“Wow Andrew, that actually is not bad.”

I guess I just need to write out my true feelings. Well they could be hard to put into words.

Doused with the faint white veil of the moonlight,

Interlocked with our words, the two hearts link.

The beauty and serenity of night

Transposes forever into a blink.

I’m locked in the boundary; fates constrain,

Of all the shackles and chains that I felt

Days without each other, the lovers’ pain,

By true love’s raging flame shall loose and melt.

Two contrasting worlds of blackness and white.

Two lives of dreams and reality true.

The world still turns, of my feelings despite,

Through the fog and mist, I only see you.

A chance where our hearts together can be:

Please go to the oncoming dance with me.

I went to Jessica’s locker and put the letter on the top of the books, don’t ask me how I got past the lock. Then I added a note telling her to leave the response, hopefully a yes, at the same place.
