Dream 26

Alex looked around. The tunnel had little in the way of natural light and was descending slowly. It was wide enough for both him and Eian to walk side by said with the girls behind them. Once more he was glad Sarah had chosen fire, she had two fire-balls out. The heat of the fire as a little uncomfortable though. It was extremely moist, with the occasionaly puddle. It reminded him uncomfortably of that area where they encountered the crocodile monstrousity.

'Well we have no more food.' Alex thought to himself guilty.

There was a giant blob of liquid moving near a puddle of water that instantly exploded from one of Sarah's fire-balls. Eian got touched the remains and Alex had to heal it after they realized it was corrosive. Luckily the acid didn't eat so fast only causing some skin to peel. He washed his hand in a puddle afterwards just to be sure. They made sure to be careful of the corrosive slimes.

"Guys. I think I heard something move." Eian.

"Where?" Sarah.

"Up ahead." Eian.

The tunnel widened on a curve. Eian once more lead the way. Alex saw something round and big on laying down on the floor. A big rock, it reached up to Alex's waist. It was laying in the corner of the watery tunnel, narrowing their passage slightly.

"Careful." Alex.

"I don't see anything." Sarah squinted.

"Huh? Weird." Eian scratched his head.

"You must have water in your ears." Jessica.

"Maybe behind the rock?" Sarah.

Eian kept going and as he reached the rock. Alex saw a snake head, the size of a humans, reach out and bite his leg. He didn't even have a chance to yell a warning.

"AH!!!." Eian fell to the ground.

"AH!!!!" Jessica.

"EIAN!!" Alex

"KILL IT!." Sarah

Eian quickly stabbed it's head with the long-spear multiple times. The entire rock shuddered and lay still. Alex rushed over to Eian and quickly healed his bleeding leg. Eian grit his teeth and groaned through the process.

"It's a turtle." Sarah.

"A big turtle." Jessica.

After the group gathered their wits. Eian asked if they could cook it. Sarah observed the rocky shell and said if he could extract some meat from the neck and legs. It was extremly hard and almost not worth the effort, they only got enough for about two meals. The shell was too hard to break to reach in much deeper. They had the Jessica and Alex carry most of the leftover cooked chunks.

"Yuck. We need something to carry this in." Jessica.

"YOU had SOMETHING before you DROPPED it." Eian.

"Eian man chill. I lost the bunch of meat too. We couldn't see well." Alex didn't want another arguement.

"He's right." Sarah.

".....fucking turtle...." Eian mumbled.

The tunnel evened out eventually and Alex saw less moisture. Shortly after they saw a large Iguana. Sarah shot her fire-ball at it, but it succried off. Alex saw the tunnel become more refined as if the builders put more effort into it.

"Something else is up ahead." Eian.

Alex spotted something up front. A group of five perfectly preserved human skeletons were laying about, they wore medieval clothes and were armed with various weapons. One held a short-sword with a shield, another an axe with a spear tip at the top, another held a morning-star style mace with a shield, and the last two held winged long-spears. The shields and spears looked exactly like the ones they used. Alex felt fear.

'Armed people were here and they died. Did goblins kill them? Is that how they get their weapons? Are they close by?' Alex thought.

"Don't get near them." Sarah.

"Why?" Alex.

"Movies. Zombie movies." Eian said.

"Eian! SHUT UP!" Jessica.

Sure enough, Alex quickly realized Eian was right. Black smoke emerged from the skulls. Dark shadowy tendrils spiraled out from the smoke and wrapped around their bones like ligaments and joints. The skeletons began getting up and Jessica let loose her most horrified scream ever.

"HEADS! ITS ALWAYS THE HEADS!" Eian.

Eian dashed foward and stabbed a long-spear skeleton through the skull just as it got up. Dark smoke leaked from its skull like blood and moments later it crumbled. Sarah blew the one with the sword to the floor, but it absorbed the impact on it's shield. Sarah's second fire-ball impacted the second long-spear-skeleton on the chest, which promply caught fire and dropped to the floor. Alex noticed even it's long-spear caught fire. Alex sprung to action and blocked a blow from the axe skeleton and promply stabbed at it's ribs, he felt the smoke was semi-tangible.

-'Shit! Skeleton right!' Alex though even as he blocked another blow, they weren't that slow.

This time he managed to stab its eye socket and he felt it penetrate a gel-like substance easily. He absorbed a final impact before it crumbled in pieces. Eian had killed the mace-skeleton and was engaging the sword-skeleton on the floor. Sarah threw another fire-ball at the burning-skeleton and as it's body parts were falling apart too slowly.

Alex engaged the morning-star skeleton. He stabbed at it but it absorbed the impact on it's shield. He did a short back and forth attacks with the skeleton. After absorbing another impact, Alex lifted his shield and bull-rushed. He bashed the skeleton's shield with his and the impact rang. It stumbled backwards and he used the opening to stab its skull. Dark-smoke leaked out its skull and it crumbled.

Alex turned and noticed Eian had killed the sword-skeleton. Sarah was busy observing the remains to see if any would rise again.

"Well it's safe to say harming the head kills them. You were right." Sarah said to Eian.

"Your fire killed it too." Alex.

"Yeah whats up with that?" Eian.

"YOU PEOPLE ARE CRAZY! HOW CAN YOU JUST SHRUG THAT OFF!" Jessica

"Relax Jess. The bigger mutant-things were scarier." Alex tried to placate her.

"THIS ISN'T THE SAME ALEX!" Jessica.

"Yes it is. The door of death probably allowed someone to make these." Sarah.

"What?" Jessica

"Wait! You think someone killed these people and made them into these?" Alex was worried some deranged killer was loose.

"Oh my gosh!" Jessica sounded a little hysteric.

"Sick....I mean like bad sick." Eian.

"Well he could have just found the skeletons in a graveyard or something." Sarah.

"That's sooooo fucked up." Eian.

"Not if he did it for protection. We've seen what's around here. What if he did it to survive?" Sarah.

Alex thought it over. It was still distasteful, defiling someones resting place, but if he had to would he do it to protect himself? He realized yes, he would. The dead's souls are gone and he can't hurt them, hopefully.

"You're assuming he did it to survive though. He could well have just killed them and brought them back." Eian.

"EIAN! SHUT UP!" Jessica.

"Jess calm down please." Alex held her arm trying to comfort her.

"True. But let's keep an open mind. I don't want to hurt someone on the chance he might be innocent." Sarah.

Jessica calmed down after a few minutes. Alex worried she would faint, or something, sometime. She was too fragile for this kind of stuff and she could get hurt if she fainted while they ran or something. He was glad Eian and Sarah were coping better.

Eian took the spear-axe and Alex took the sword, which was heavy. The skeletons had buckles and sheaths for the weapons. The morning star wasn't too heavy, as only the head was metal and Alex took the buckle to that. Jessica managed to replace her long-spear with one that had a strap.

They left two long-spears behind as they were begining to be cumbersome and Sarah had burnt the shalf of the spear on her skeleton. The shields were a little heavy for Sarah and Jessica was already loaded with some food. Alex was begining to feel like a badass with his sword and mace strapped to his waist.

The group kept going, but were cautious of any undead they could encounter. They enountered another group of five skeletons about ten minutes later. This group all had shields. Three had an assortment of swords and two had maces. The problem was they were all standing and held themselves in a sheild wall.

Luckily Sarah's fire-balls sewed chaos unto their ranks and sent two backwards. Both men charged and rammed their shields into a standing skeleton violently. The last skeleton engaged Eian and he was fending off its attacks. Alex quickly ended his staggared opponent with a stab to the face, though Eian couldn't. Alex saw another fire-ball clash into the shield of one of Eian's two opponents.

Alex was quickly beset by the two skeletons that had gotten up. He hunked down with his shield blocking sword and mace. He parried a sword though it sent a wierd shock down to his hand. A fire-ball caught one of his opponents and sent it down to the ground.

Alex quickly shield-bashed his enemy and killed it. Alex saw that Eian had killed his two opponents and came to help him. Together they teamed the skeleton and Eian let him get the kill.

"Those shield's are annoying." Sarah.

"We couldn't have done it without you." Alex noticed Jessica looked sad.

"Yeah awesome fire-support." Eian.

"You okay, Jess?" Alex

"Huh?! Yeah. Thanks everyone." Jessica looked a bit depressed.

"They're easy enough maybe we should get you to kill some. We still need you to get stronger." Sarah.

"Oh! ummm... I'm not sure." Jessica looked nervous.

"She could get hurt Sarah." Alex, Jessica seemed to mildly frown which was strange to Alex, he was defending her.

"Calm down Alex. I mean like how you two double-teamed that last one. As long as there's only one you guys can try to disarm it. Jessica can easily kill it that way." Sarah.

"It's okay, Alex thanks. That sounds wonderful thank you Sarah." Jessica smiled, which made Alex feel weird.

"Okay. That sounds good." Alex heard Eian mumble something to himself.

Eian strapped a long-sword and mace to his waist. Alex took another mace. Sarah strapped a short-sword to her waist too, just incase. Jessica strapped the last short-sword. They looked like a group of crazy murderous teens roleplaying, especially with all the blood and sweat.

They kept following the tunnel as it seemed to be becoming more and more refined. They even began seeing extinguished torches along the walls. Finally after ten minutes they saw the ground become cobblestone. They almost rushed foward.

"Cool this looks promising." Eian sounded as if it was a dollor on the road.

"Yeah man." Alex was excited at the possibility of an exit.

"I hope so." Jessica sounded so excited Alex almost felt bad because of all the dead-ends they had hit.

"Let's go." Sarah sounded neutral.

Close by they once more saw a group of five skeletons all wearing shields. Sarah blew two to the ground and they both bashed into two more. The fight went down almost exactly like the last one, except this time Sarah helped Alex first. Sarah still didn't get any kills. Also they left the final skeleton for Jessica, whom got the kill with a little reluctance.

They saw the skeletons were guarding an entrance that seems to have had a metal door. Only the metal bars remained with an open frame for a door. There were many broken skeleton corpses littering the area. Two giant empty metal suits of armor were broken apart near the fence. They looked slightly rusty.

"What are those?" Eian.

"Maybe the undead killed a giant that was inside? Or they thought something was inside?" Sarah.

"Who cares lets GO. I want to see if this leads to an exit." Jessica.

"We should be careful. If something can break through metal we might be in mortal-danger." Sarah.

"The skeletons could have just bashed it for a really long time. I mean, there seems to have been alot more." Alex.

"True. Let's just be safe." Sarah.

"Yeah. I still want out." Eian.

"YESSS!" Jessica.

They passed the metal bars and continued onwards.
