Rushing into battle (2)

Rushing into battle (2)

He had done something so reckless thanks to the words of his mysterious collaborator. He didn't have to worry because that person he is currently chasing wouldn't use magic against him. Whatever intelligence it may have, they are still monsters trapped in human skin.

The reason they didn't attack each other or their creator was a spell that kept them under a certain degree of control, and something as complicated as that can't be used simultaneously with another magic lightly. The effects on the body, the cost of touching that law, simply was too great. Or so the lab coat man had told him.

—Who are you!? —exclaimed the magician—. That girl was alone until now, how come I didn't feel your presence until you arrived?

—You have nowhere to run —said Aiden—, I'm the one who will kick your ass, wizard.

He chased him until he cornered him on the terrace. Marking with great force with each step, cracking his fingers and a smile written on his face, Aiden approached the cornered wizard.

—Before you lose your teeth, tell me, last words before being captured?

—Don't screw with me. Don't screw with me! Why are you getting in my way!? You have no idea how terrifying it is to know that you're going to die soon!

—You…

—That's right… Nothing worked, I had no hope. Not even the magic that I spent so many years cultivating could save me. I had no other choice! Tell me…! In my situation, if an option appeared in front of you, would you take it, no? No matter selling my soul to the devil, I want to live! This investigation is my only hope. That's why I!

—Ah, ah! Sorry, that's enough. Today we don't have more time on the program, much less to make an empathetic villain. I understand where you're coming from, but, No! That doesn't excuse killing innocents.

—What does it matter? You wouldn't understand anyway.

—True. Now get ready, hold your teeth tight, so they don't fall out —Aiden began to take aim, focusing all his strength in his fist.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

The sickly man had to decide: Release the control over the homunculi or receive a beating from Aiden, and the wizard regretfully made his.

—Fire of the king, come and protect yours, with your sword sentence my enemies to hell!

In response to his words, a long sword of fire more than two meters that extended from his staff cut diagonally towards Aiden, who threw himself onto his back to dodge. He had succeeded. He made the wizard lose control over the homunculi, and immediately there was a change on the other battlefield.

The monsters had wounds all over their bodies, one was half dead already; another would soon be; and the last one was still in good condition, but something strange happened right then. Without any warrant, the two creatures that could still fight stopped in mid-flight.

Inside the building, Aiden rolled on the ground and took some distance, but his enemy did not give him time to recover. A series of fire guillotines fell on him at full speed. He managed to dodge the first guillotine by only a few centimeters and roll between the following ones.

The brush with the heat source burned his back and made his eyes burn. The pain was not small, but he endured it. The adrenaline flowing through his veins was such that it allowed him to get up and run towards the magic user, only to be pushed back again.

—You're quite the rat scurrying, but how much longer can you resist? Hm?

Certainly, how much more did he have to resist? He doubted he could last much longer; he was reaching his limit. Honestly, some of his attacks he had dodged by luck.

—The games are over! —Said the wizard—. Chaos calls, with your fire, upset this world.

Midair, in front of him, a crimson sphere formed. It was so fast that there was no way to dodge it. Aiden turned his back and started running, he got as far away as he could when the sphere imploded, creating a hole in the ground. As he received most of the impact, the destruction on the ground did not stop there, where Aiden was also giving way to the explosion and fell into the hole among the pieces of concrete and metal. There was no way for Aiden to defeat this wizard, but he did not have to, from the beginning he was not a match for a wizard, his goal was never to defeat him, that was Maika's job.

The moment Aiden fell into the hole, Maika, after improvising a way to immobilize the homunculi, tracked the constant source of magic, and now was in the nearby building. She aimed and readily took the shot, hitting one of the wizard's legs. Unlike the bullets she had used so far, this one did not explode, it only invalidated him so that he could not flee.

It was her victory.

Or at least that's what she momentarily believed. One of the homunculi had appeared flying with its repugnant wings, and even more so, there was something strange about it. It barely had human skin, and its skeletal frame was cracked and contorted.

Without giving her time to react, it lunged at the wizard, covering him between its nasty wings and took him to the sky.
