Chapter 7
“So, that’s why you brought him with you?” Arthur asked.
Aiden and Arthur were in Arthur’s clinic recounting last night’s episode with Kylan.
“I didn’t know that was your type?”
“I don’t have a type. A type for what?”
“You know, people to associate with.”
“I didn’t know you wanted to kill yourself too.”
“I meant willingly associate, going out of the way to invite them to one’s house.” Arthur glowered.
“That is not a type, if it was then I would want to associate with everyone. Since everyone wants to off themselves at some point in their life.”
“True.” Arthur shrugged. “So, what are you going to do now?”
“Well.” Aiden dragged out for a moment “That’s why I am here.”
Arthur stopped for a moment and raised his eyebrows pointed at himself and asked, “Me? You want me to do something about it?”
“I mean you are the doctor.”
“I heal wounds, diseases, ailments, illness. I don’t heal I don’t know what even that is.”
“You are a Physician; it is your job to save lives. You swore an oath.”
“I did no such thing.” Aiden forgot for a moment that it was a concept of his previous world. And an oath was a very big thing in this world. His memories of his previous world were always so confusing, he had a concept of what his previous world was like, how it functions, its common sense but he had no memories of who he was.
“Is there even a person for this kind of healing. Maybe go to priest to receive a blessing. That might help.” Arthur suggested.
“Ugh priests.” Aiden scowled as he glared Arthur.
“Anyway, these kinds of situations need a friend not a doctor. Just be his friend.”

“I am trying, but two friends are better then one.” Aiden stated.
And he wasn’t sure where they stood after last night. Dinner was ruined and he spent the rest of the remaining time trying to shove down as much food as he could as Kylan nibbled on him. Needless to say his Papillion meat was ruined. But when he woke up in the morning Kylan was in the kitchen again preparing breakfast. And it was good, he really was a good cook. Now he didn’t know where he stood with him. It was ok to not be his friend as long as he was able to stir him in the direction he wanted. Maybe with the next candidate he should not approach directly, rather try and stir them to where he wants.
“Do I really look like someone who can be delicate in matters like this.” Arthur stared at him with his dead eyes. If one saw him for the first time, they would run the opposite direction not because he looked scary in fact, he was quiet pleasing to look at. It was his droopy eyes with dark circles underneath that made people take a step back. He claims he didn’t want to be this way but that’s just how he was made.
“Its what’s on the inside that counts.” Aiden insisted.
Arthur sighed, “Fine, send him my way, I’ll see what I can do.”
Aiden’s lips turned upward as he said, “Thank you.”
When Aiden returned, he was met with an unexpected sight of Ivar and Kylan together in his house sitting opposite each other in the front store.
“Ivar. What are you doing?”
“I wanted to check up on you when I met Kylan, your new friend. I wanted to know more about him.”
“There is not much to know about me.” Kylan said with a strained face.
“Yes, you are quiet the mystery.” Ivar stared at him making him conscious of himself.
“If there was nothing important Ivar you can leave.” Aiden intervened
“I just wanted to know when will you be going back to visit.” Ivar turned to Aiden.
“Not anytime soon, but you are welcome to go back. I am sure your father and your brother miss you.”
Ivar remained silent for a moment before getting up.
“I thought he was an intruder for a moment the way he was snooping around.”
“I was cleaning.”
“Yes, then I thought you might have hired someone.”
“He is just a friend, Ivar. Let me show you out.” Aiden put an end to the conversation and led to the door.
Aiden closed the door, “What were you doing?”
“I just wanted to feel him out.” Ivar responded.
“Stop doing useless things.”
“I was making sure he is not a threat.”
“He is not. I can figure out who is a threat and who is not. Don’t undermine me.”
“I apologize. But we don’t know anything about him.”
“I know he is not a threat.”
‘If anything, I am a threat to him’
Ivar just stood there with his head low.
“Just leave.” The next sec Ivar was nowhere to be found. Aiden stood there looking around for sometime then went back in.
When he returned Kylan was still sitting in the couch but got up as soon as he saw Aiden.
“I am sorry if I over stepped my boundaries. I was just cleaning to keep my mind of things. I tend to do that when I am anxious. And I like cleaning.”
As Aiden looked at Kylan, his long face with wavy red hair and brown eyes that can never keep still he couldn’t picture him as a clean freak.
“Its ok if it helps you if fact, I can actually hire you if you want?” Aiden asked
“No. I don’t think I will stick around for long.” Kylan responded.
There was an awkward silence for sometime before Aiden broke it, “Arthur wanted to meet you, to check up on you, you should go.”
“Now? Didn’t he say three days.”
“Yes, but he just wanted to make sure…... there are no… other… complications.”
“Ok then.”
