Somewhere in the mountains of southeastern Homstala...

Inside a small opening within a forest in the mountains of Homstala a wooden cabin stood firm, next to the entrance was a wooden sign that read "The Kray Residence". The wind blew the trees and flora gently to the west as a human male walked out of the cabin. He was thin but with an average amount of arm muscle, wavy ginger hair that gave him a fringe, and bright green eyes. His attire consisted of a white shirt, black jeans, and steel toe brown boots. He folded his arms as a figure came out behind him, it was a woman with short black hair with blue eyes. She was on the short and petite side and was wearing a hoodie with a pair of jeans, being barefoot.
She leaned against him and he put his arm around her.
"Morning, hon'"
The man yawned out, rubbing his eye with the hand that wasn't around his lover.
"Morning~" She looked up at him, before looking at the forest in front of them. "Jet was up rather early this morning, he ran off into the forest to fish in the lake."
The ginger man looked down at his wife, smiling. "Is that you suggesting I should go and watch over him? Oh Cyan, ever the protective one~" He kissed her forehead gently and started to walk off.
She smiled, before waving a gentle goodbye. "Be careful, Khris. And make sure our Son is doing the same."
"Of what? The birds shitting on us?" He chuckled as he walked into the dense forest, waving overhead at his lover Cyan as he did.
Khris searched and searched, looking for his son until he found him sitting on a bank of a large lake in the forest. He walked up behind him and sat, looking at his early teenage son who had black hair which was brushed back off his forehead, having green eyes much like his father. His eyes were focused on the water at the bait on the end of the fishing rod that he was holding.
The two sat silent, as to not disturb what may lurk in the water...before suddenly:
Swish!
The bait was tugged and Jet quickly stood. The teenage boy started to pull the rod towards him whilst turning the reel. "Hmph!"
Khris sat silently, watching his son at work. Jet's green eyes narrowed as he dragged a flounder fish out the water, watching it struggle as he hovered it over to a large box filled with water next to him, placing it inside. Inside this box were fish of various sizes. However, the flounder which he had just caught was the largest. The water inside the bucket was rather clean but had seaweed and small pebbles here and there.
"Heh, good job kiddo." Khris patted his son on the shoulder gently. "We can eat those tonight."
Jet looked up at his father, a large grin extending across his face.
Soon enough the two made it back to their cabin and started descaling and gutting the fish one by one in the kitchen inside the cabin. Jet would descale the fish, passing them to his father Khris who would gut them. Cyan leaned against the doorway of the kitchen and watched the two work. "That is a lot of fish, Jet. Did you catch all of them yourself?"
"I sure did! I got lucky today." Jet smiled at his mother who smiled back, before looking down at his greasy hands descaling the fish. "These would make for some nice small nuggets."
Jet would focus on descaling, much like he did when he focused on catching the same fish.

Khris looked at Jet descaling before gently placing a hand on his shoulder. "Careful you don't descale your finger." He grinned and went back to gutting.
"But I don't have scales? I have skin..."
"I'm joking, son!" Khris chuckled out, before gutting the last fish and putting it on a metal tray with the rest. He then added some cooking oil over the fish on said tray before sliding it into an oven, turning it on. He then washed his hands and motioned his son to do the same, which he did.
Cyan looked at the two washing their hands, smiling slightly before glancing to her left outside a window inside the kitchen.
"Jet, you stink of fish! Go have a hot bath." Khris smiled and patted his son's head.
"Urghhhhh~ Fine! But you better give me more than four nuggets!" Jet ran out of the kitchen, passing his mother who stopped him. She looked at his hands that had a few thin tiny cuts along his palms and fingers. "Hmm. from the line on the rod I presume? You need to be more careful..you'll end up losing a few fingers."
"I'm fine I'll just clean the cuts!" Jet shrugged his mother off and rolled his eyes, soon running to the bathroom.
Cyan sighed, looking over at her husband cleaning up. "Never changes, does he? If he's like this when he's an adult he'll get himself killed..."
"Jet? He's 17, honey. Of course he is gonna change as he grows. Everyone does!" Khris walked to his wife, giving her a peck on the lips before going to their living room. Cyan sighed and did the same, sitting next to him on the sofa inside as Khris switched on the television in the corner of the room.
"Our reporter from Homstala has successfully infiltrated the city of Skarka inside the wolven country of Wrathak alongside his camera crew. Reports have shown that the civil war has calmed down in terms of death rates yet the conflict continues. However, the rebellion are the ones who remain atop of this conflict and have been for a few days now!" A human female in a suit was standing on a war-torn street inside of the gray city of Wrathak.
"Turn it over, it has nothing to do with us.." Cyan itched her cheek as she cuddled next to her lover Khris who turned the channel over. "Hm."
They were a happy family living a happy, low-stress life in the forests of Homstala.

> The Next Afternoon
Khris was outside of their cabin with a pickaxe over his shoulder, wearing a pair of cargo pants and a black vest. Attached to the pants was an unlit lantern. As for footwear, he wore his pair of brown steel toe boots. He was facing his wife Cyan and child Jet, both of whom were waving.
"I'll be back with minerals to sell soon, you two look after each other!"
"Bye, dad!" Jet waved swiftly to his father with a large smile across his face, Cyan was waving as well, giving him a soft smile.
Khris smiled and soon walked into the forest on a specific path down a small cliff face, along the path was a cavern that led into the cliff. He turned on his oil lantern attached to his cargo pants and slowly walked into the cave.
The cave was damp and dark, but thanks to his source of light he was able to see a dozen meters in front of him. He came across a small flow of water inside of the deeper parts of the cave and drank from it, gulping it down and wiping his mouth. "Nice and fresh.." He mumbled to himself as he kept walking into the cave.
Meanwhile, back at the cabin.
"Mummm~ I'm hungry..." Jet flopped onto the sofa in the living room of the cabin as he spoke to his mother in the room across the hallway. Cyan came in with a bowl of noodles and gave it to him. "Lucky for you I was just making this!" She gave him a few head pats before going back to the kitchen.
Jet watched the TV as he ate the noodles with a fork. "Slurrrrrrrp~"
...
Khris meanwhile was still looking for ore deposits in the cave, crawling through a tight space before standing up again with a grunt. He spotted a tint in the rock opposite, grinning to himself as he gently felt it with his left hand.
CHIK! CHIK! CHIK!
He soon started to dig into the ore with his pickaxe, his defined arms going to work. He had placed his lantern on the floor whilst he did this, making sure that it wouldn't swing on his hip whilst he dug and risk it falling onto the ground.
But then, Khris' eyes widened as they fell upon a bright object lodged into the ore. It seemed to be a large ring...no, much much bigger than a ring. It wasn't a full circle either, rather a quarter of a full circle. It glowed a bright white too, and as Khris stared at it his eyes slowly started to bleach like he was staring at a star. He blinked twice and reached out to it, but before he could...
SLASHHH!!!!!!
Khris felt a stabbing sensation through his back, blood dripping from the side of his mouth as he slowly dropped his pickaxe. As it hit the cave's floor he looked down at a silver, immaculate longsword with his green eyes that had pierced his flesh like a knife would if it struck butter. Khris' ginger hair was then dragged back as a strict and booming feminine voice spoke into his ear.
"I must thank you, Sub-Being...because of your objective here you have helped me in mine. Yet that is all your role is in my mission. Die now.."
Khris' eyes shook as the blade ripped out of his back, he fell onto his knees as he looked down at his wound, his arms in his lap. He thought of his wife and child, slowly slumping to his side as his lifeless eyes met the dim lantern...that slowly...
..slowly.....
went out.....
