No, it's better not to. Now that I think about it, it sounds like a really stupid idea. Yeah, it would probably just make me sick. Or kill me.

But than again, what should I do with it?

Mmmh... a Core... could I use it to fuel something?

Now that I think about it, can't I combine it with Earth Magic and create golems? There could be other uses, but I can't think of anything else for now.

Okay, it's decided, I will go with Golems. I will probably need one hand or two to fight multiple enemies at once.

So, first of all I should create the Golem frame. I manipulate a couple big rocks lying around and bring them together to make the body. After making it in a seemingly human shape (I still don’t have enough control over Earth Magic to make it too detailed), I insert the core into the lower part of the bust and reinforce it by compressing a couple more rocks in that place.

I wait for a couple minutes for something to happen, but seeing as no changes happen I start inspecting the core and the soul power lingering around it, only to notice that the halo around the core didn’t expand for the whole body, remaining like it was before I inserted it in the body frame.

I decide to try moving the soul power halo around the Golem and surprisingly something happens.

Congratulations. Through trials and errors you created your first Golem. As the Golem master he will obey every command you give him. As the master you can visualize the Golem Status by sheer will. Remember that you can always dismantle the Golem body and recover the Core in any moment.

Lesser Soul Magic LV.16 reached enough proficency, advancing to LV.24. Earth Magic gained enough proficency, advancing to LV.5

Good, seems like it worked. I also gained a couple levels in both Earth and Soul magic.

At the same time the Golem turns towards me and kneel down to me, seemingly waiting for orders. I leave him alone for now and turn towards the Rabbit and what I see shocks me. He seems to have aged a lot of years, he was a lot skinnier than before, he lost a lot of fur and his breath was ragged. I free him from the cage but he doesn’t take a step out, so I end his life out of pity and bury him.

Then I turn around and think about the Golem Status.

Seems like he already has a skill. I wonder what it means by Body Reconstruction? Does it regenerate his body using rocks? I will have to wait for a real fight to happen I guess.

Well now, what should I do now? I could step out and hunt more Rabbits to experiment more with Golems, but after what happened to the last bunny I feel like that would be too much of a cruel thing to do. Maybe I can extract their Soul Essence after I kill them? That way they would suffer less. Alas, I would only do so with the ones I intend to eat afterwards.

Mmh. I don’t feel like going out hunting more Rabbits after I stock up the last day, so maybe it’s better if I concentrate on the last skill I still have to test: Dark Magic.

I postponed this one because I feel slightly unease about the “raising the dead” thing. I know it was me who choose, but that was intended to be an in-game character. And I’m pretty sure this is not a game. So it would feel a little bit too… sacrilegious, raising the dead and all.

But at the same time, it doesn’t say anything about reviving the dead. It’s just Dark Magic. Like I used Earth and Soul Magic together to make Golems, the purpose of Dark Magic could be different than just making Zombies.

So I will try to do something different with it.

[I just realized that I already said all these things about Dark Magic in the previous chapter, but I will leave them here. You have to remember this, it’s quite important. Probably.]

First of all, I have to think about it. What is Dark Magic? Is it about manipulating darkness? The shadows? Both? Well, seeing it from another point of view darkness and shadows are the same thing. So that’s it. Probably.

I try concentrating on the shadows in a corner of the cave, thinking about my magical power moving it, and the skill comes into play. Black smoke starts separating from the shadow. Not much, just a little, but it’s a start.

Lesser Dark Magic LV.1 reached enough proficency, advancing to LV.7

Five days passed from when I started the intensive training with Dark and Soul magic (with a little of the Earth one mixed in) and I became quite proficient with all of them.

As I didn’t have any subjects to test Soul Magic on I just moved the soul essence inside my body and inside the Golems. At first it wasn’t much useful doing so with the Golem, as most of the levels I gained in Soul Magic were from moving the essence inside of me, but then the Golem level suddenly raised by one. In these five days it raised to level 4, which may not seem much, but he didn’t even move a finger!

Also, at the end of my training I became able to use a lot of skills at the same time, so skill leveling became faster. Right now I can move the essence inside me and the golem, while covering my legs with darkness and moving rocks around.

And last of all, my mana usage for all of my magical skills lowered by a quarter.

Also, these are my stats right now.
